This song was directed at ZANU PF and it's ruthless and selfish leaders. Doro munongotambura naro hamugone kusira vamwe meaning 'You are clueless of running the country yet you can't leave it to others who can efficiently run the country' .
Fun fact : There are two slightly different versions of this song, both from 2003. There is Shungu which was the lead track on Andy Brown's 2003 album (Passage of time) and then there is Zim connection which was on Revolution's 2003 album (The Journey Continues). Because "Zim connection" was a collaboration with Revolution, it is a house track, and a classic one too. "Shungu" however is not exactly a house track with a clearer feel of the live instrumentation and was also a banger. You could easily play either version in club and most people wouldn't really notice or care. They just loved the song, and the sing along . . . . especially if they were drunk. About the backing vocalists, I cant help but wonder if Chiwonisa was not in there. Those that know, please educate.
There is a version released on Tigere CD (Metro Studios). I don't know if it was recorded in 1997, or if it was added to a later reedition of Tigere CD (it does not appear on the K7). Chiwoniso could have ensured the backing vocals in 1997 😉🙂😊
Wow...what a beautiful find. So sadly missed Andy Brown. To all fellow Zimbo's...Surround yourself with people who make you hungry for life, touch your heart, and nourish your soul.
Andy you went too soon, beautiful music brother. I was awestruck in 1999 muna April, when I saw Andy achitamba pool namdara wangu paZisco Club kuRedcliff, they were not friends but Andy was a sweet soul
Still can't believe Andy is gone we love you forever bro. I was fortunate enough to bump into any brown in Mopani bay Kariba once and the guy was a stand up guy he spoke to me with respect and did not even have that I'm better than you attitude that some stars have.
Joseph mapondera _ Aww, this makes me miss him more...I only know his music, and I sense a great man in his lyrics. I sense a conscious and woke man! You went too soon, Andy Brown...today I celebrate your life and am listening to your iconic tracks....what talent😍😍😍😍
Revolution's Zim Connection brought me here🙏🙏by far one of the greatest artists ever I may not understand the lyrics but I love the instruments and how he sings in harmony with the backing female vocalists this song is just magical
THIS tune is just amazining blaz awa waigona kumixa masounds ,this must be the reason every time I PRAY TO GOD HE is in A good mood MUKOMA ANDY IS KEEPING HIM CHAFFED and I believe he has forgiven all zims pips thats BECAUSE oF ANDY,mese from ZIM going TO heaven, big up MUKOMA ANDY.REST IN POWER
Another great one gone ... but the music lives on.... fambai zvakanaka mukoma Andy will miss you a lot asi "tichangoramba tichishaina" reflecting on your good music.
