WAR had so many bangers - this is one of my favorites of theirs. Yes, please do the album/studio of this song. Other WAR songs; Low Rider, Slippin into Darkness, Summer, Why Can't We Be Friends.
A legendary & iconic group with a huge catalog of classics,, WAR "Low Rider",, "The Cisco Kid",, "The World Is A Ghetto",, "Slippin' Into Darkness",, "Summer",, "Four Cornred Room",, "Gypsy Man",, "Me And Baby Brother",, "Why Can't We Be Friends" & "City,, Country,, City"..Etc..Etc.
Soul Train taught me how to dance~ lol. Soul Train, American music variety television show, the first to prominently feature African American musical acts and dancers. Broadcast nationally from 1971 to 2006, it was one of the longest-running syndicated programs in American television history. This song could go on ALL DAY for me! Love this band.
Tragically this performance was cut short but a rare treat because this was done LIVE while 95% of the artists who performed on Soul Train lip synced their songs. Definitely give the studio version a listen; it's rich, full and funky!!!
YAY!!! Lee Oskar on harmonica is incredible like he is floating, looks like he is floating. The music moved his soul. I love this song for summer to inspire me to go to the park. I really loved War. Great Reaction Shawn
70's kids here. Still grooving to these classics from Soul Train where everybody had an afro, even the white cat playing harmonica. Such a smooth groove. lol
Oh hell yah. I was IN LOVE for the first time in my life in 1974 when this song circulated through the hispanic pop musci genre. Great times. I'm now 67. Mi Carazon!
OMG this is one of my favorite songs. Even though it came out when I was a little kid, I remember it from later in the 70s and I would hear this song in my neighborhood. I lived in a close knit Mexican neighborhood. In particular, it reminds me of Sundays at the park. It seemed like the whole neighborhood would go to the park on Sundays after church. Families mingled, people brought food, some kids played ball, the older teens and young people cruised around in their lowriders playing music, and it seemed like everything was good. That's what this song reminds me of and why I love it so much. Listen to the studio version to get the whole effect.
Wars music always gives off that friends and family hanging out and barbecuing at the park. You should check out one of their most popular songs "Lowrider"
You got the gist of the song-I'm pretty certain you have heard War's Low rider-War faves-Cisco Kid and Summer. There's a ton of Soul Train videos on youtube-features late 60s early 70s R&B artists.
So good!! Around the same time that The World is a Ghetto came out Lee Oskar came out with a solo album that was absolutely fantastic, you know that he was a great harmonica player if you record a solo album.
'Gypsy Man' has a soulful harp solo if Lee's but for a very long solo try his 'Before the Rain' song from the same titled album...absolutely great chromatic harp playing.
The studio version is probably the best, but honestly this live version is pretty terrific, especially for a TV show. But Soul Train did tend to allow their guests to play live quite often, as opposed to lip-syncing to their songs. 🙂
This song is magic
Lee Oskar on the harmonica. So good.

Can't go wrong with War, with or without Burdon, just a great group.
This is my favorite War song. I never saw this live, it was great but you need to do the album cut too. Thanks!

All excellent
@@KurtSauers-mi5ev 100% Agreed.
I hope you'll see more Soul Train performances in the future. American Bandstand was another popular music/dance show from that era.

Thanks, Pluto 😁no doubt he was playing with all his soul
I used to watch Soul Train, and American Bandstand all the time growing up. That's how I learned to dance, by watching them.

Love Soul train♥️ brings back such great memories👏🏻🎼🎵♥️
Listen to War, “Slipping Into Darkness”. Live or studio, it’s amazing.

Very successful large multi-ethic groups of that time period,, WAR,, Santana & Malo (Jorge Santana/Younger brother of Carlos..R.I.P. Jorge 🙏❤️)
War's got so many great tunes...Thanks for this one - for a few minutes, it felt like summer!
Another great song/album from 1971
Never saw them on Soul Train before. Nice. Thanks for that.
My favorite War song. I saw them perform this live.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤠 👍💜
This was a real Soul song. Real Soul.

Now hit some Tower of Power!
Other great songs by War, and probably a lot more iconic: Low Rider and The Cisco Kid. Gotta check em out.
Studio versions please! All Day Music, Slippin into Darkness and the World is a Ghetto are musts.
'Gypsy Man' has a soulful harp solo if Lee's but for a very long solo try his 'Before the Rain' song from the same titled album...absolutely great chromatic harp playing.
When you get the time you should check out Eric Burdon/ War - Spill The Wine Live (1970).
Pick any WAR song you want to listen to, and you will be groovin’ ❤
yeah check out the studio version!
This was live, and to shorten it a bit for the show, they cut out the middle verse. It's rock, it's bluesy, it's jazzy, and it's funky; all at once!
The studio version is probably the best, but honestly this live version is pretty terrific, especially for a TV show. But Soul Train did tend to allow their guests to play live quite often, as opposed to lip-syncing to their songs. 🙂
Cisco Kid is certainly worth a listen.
Sooooul Train
Try the studio version of this!!
This kinda music just makes me cry because the world is so bad today...
Great band. Maybe try “the Cisco Kid” by war.
