@@tomjohnson4681 I don't think he has said precisely that. There is certainly close to 100% efficacy in preventing severe disease and death, but lower efficacy in preventing infection. Also, if infected, there is a lower likelihood that you will infect others becasue of the lower viral load.
Tomorrow I get my second Pfizer dose. 🙏 Hoping for mild reaction, but so relieved to be closer to max immunity. Update - I am post second dose now, five hours. No fever, no exhaustion, no feeling ill at all. I will say that my upper arm is sore at and around the injection site, but really nothing to get worked up about. My brother, who is a 67 year old registered nurse who works at a military hospital, told me to drink extra water yesterday and today, which I did. So, maybe that’s something we can all do to reduce negative reaction to the vaccination. 🤷♀️. Bottom line - don’t be afraid to take the vaccine based on some rare, possibly unrelated negative experience of a RUclipsr. really here in Canada people rarely travel outside the country no point , i myself haven't left Canada since i was 16yr for a brief trip too the US too go to the air force base ... in fact people are so poor normal people cannot afford too travel abroad at all ...

Hi doctor, greetings from India. I had my AZ vaccine yesterday in a very clean and sophisticated environment. It took only 10 minutes of process. But after vaccination, advised to wait 20 minutes for any reactions. So far so good. Even while I was in the vaccine centre , I could download my vaccine certificate from the website. This was pretty quicker than faster.
@@messrsandersonco5985 Not with the AZ - statistically, side effects more likely with the first dose, and the second not, with the mRNA vaccines the other way around. But everyone is different,some get no side effects at all.

I do understand what you are saying about mask wearing but you have to remember there are people with conditions that don’t understand about the virus or don’t remember about the masks. When I take my mother who suffers from dementia (even though its just to medical appointments and for walks) she just does not remember and keeps pulling it below her nose as she says she cant breathe. I remind her every time but Some people have been horrible to her and she has become very distressed, please people think that not everyone has the capacity to understand the situation. She still needs medical treatment and exercise, the pandemic has sadly already cut off her vital visits and support from family and friends and her regular shopping trips.
People like your mum are exactly why the rest of us need to do our bit and distance, wear masks and get vaccinated. It gives people like her a greater chance to not catch the virus. I hope you are both keeping safe and she isn't too confused by all the changes going on. It can't be easy when you're already confused or unable to understand the changes in daily routine.
There will of course be folk like your mother but I believe they are a small minority in terms of the mask issue. Around 1% I've heard it reported have genuine issues. I see many people on a daily basis flaunting mask rules from all demographics. I cannot accept that 25% of a population at any given time are so seriously I'll or forgetful as to be incapable of something as simple as covering their noses. I mean, why have a mask on if it's under the chin? When people genuinely and consciously care about others around them, they'll wear a mask. Sadly there's too much of me me me me.
You may need to look at alternatives on your medical, as there are few private business doctors that are not accepting patient appointments either in person or virtual. (yes, I have seen seniors adversely affected by these types of events)

In a country where vaccine supply is constrained it isn’t as if the 1.6m people would have had the Pfizer or Moderna alternatives. Therefore you would have had 1.6m people with a risk of being exposed to the virus, I’m not a statistician but I would expect the death rate would have been higher in this case.

In the cemetary of my parish, there is a corner with two or three dozens of graves belonging to women in their early twenties. Yesterday I learnt of the death of my 88 years old aunt from CV-19. Vaccinated in the first wave she was in good spirits Saturday when my cousin and his wife visited her in her care home, plans were even made to take her out in their new car which enabled a wheel chair to be carried. The shock phone call from the home yesterday morning, which up to now has been exemplary in protecting their residents, stunned my cousin, her so, such that emotions went from acute sadness to one of anger then despair. Whatever people may think this pandemic isn't anywhere near over yet just because we are being vaccinated. Take care out there and follow the advice, it's in both your and everyone else's interest.

I had the virus in June 2020. Had mild symptoms for a few days. Went to Quest labs in July to see if I had IgG antibodies. I did. In Dec 2020 I did another test. Still had the antibodies. In February, I did 2 tests. Still showed the IgG antibodies from Quest and had Adaptive Biotechnology do a t- cell test thru their T-detect platform. Got the results 6 days later showing I have the T-cells too. So, why would I ever get or need a vaccine? I haven't heard anything in your talk about an antibody passport. I will be furious if I have verifiable antibodies and T-cells and not be able to travel. Please address this issue as I am not alone
The only reason for a vaccine for you would be for the new variants when those vaccines are ready for the public. Pfizer claims to be able to neutralize the new variants. But both Pfizer and Moderna are upgrading their vacs to better handle the new variants. I doubt you have AB or T cells for new variants that are occuring allover the world. Reinfection has happened with new variants sometimes only a couple of months apart and usually more symptoms than original D614G. France now has a new variant that doesn't show up on current PCR tests.

Our bodies will produce antibodies, etc to various parts of the virus , like the capsular protein. In fact, if you go to Quest Labs after vaccinations and get their IgG antibody test, you will turn out neg because Quest tests for antibodies to the capsular protein and not the spike protein vs LabCorp that tests for antibodies to the spike protein.

Sorry Doc, I have to disagree about vaccine passports . What about the people who want travel but for whatever reason cannot take these vaccines, are they not supposed to travel. Not to mention that this disease is really only serious for older people so why would a person under 30 with good Health worry about getting a vaccine. Also why would one worry about someone getting on the plane without being vaccinated or not if they themselves are vaccinated . I thought that was the point of getting vaccinated so that you don't have to worry running into someone who isn't.
as of now Test for Covid-19 is require 24 h before departure in all international flights and IT can be done for $200+ ;) :) in most airports. Apparently the vaccine do not prevent anybody from catching the virus YET just prevents as from becoming very sick and dying. Please consider this: According to the head of the EU commission, the EU received 300 vaccine export applications. All were granted, except the one batch blocked by Italy. Maybe the new Italian PM needed to show what some see as leadership. I am German and a staunch European, but I do not approve of this move at all and apologize for any inconveniance. @@johncarlaw8633 Well I do think people will start to travel but I should think we could do with holidays in our own country first for this year. Help the local economy. I myself am not looking to go on hols for at least 2022 or longer. But will start to go to some places here in the UK. I would prefer to have proper controls on people coming in and out but don't like the idea that you need a vaccine passport to travel. Id prefer testing before and after and of course covid proof insurance. I think get tested an hour or two before traveling and again when on the way back. If positive then 2 weeks in a allocated hotel. If clear then off you go back home. honestly I think people in UK will be fine. Its EU member states that are going to have the issue the way they are going with the vaccines or lack their off.

Simple question about the Astra Zeneca vaccine and the UK: we have given pretty much literally an order of magnitude more people that vaccine than Germany has, so logically said thrombosis condition should be showing up as around 70 cases in the UK in that scenario, where are those cases? Why have tens of cases of this not been reported in the UK if the Astra Zeneca vaccine is supposedly to blame for it?
In Germany the AZ vaccine was only available to people under 65 years old until last week. This is why this vaccine was only vaccinated here for teachers, police officers, medical workers' associations and other mostly young and healthy people. After this vaccination program was started on a large scale, these incidents occurred in a short time. This type of thrombosis usually affects young people, mostly women. Perhaps it was not statistically noticeable in England because mainly elderly people were vaccinated with it.

@@tomjohnson4681 I don't think he has said precisely that. There is certainly close to 100% efficacy in preventing severe disease and death, but lower efficacy in preventing infection. Also, if infected, there is a lower likelihood that you will infect others becasue of the lower viral load.
Tomorrow I get my second Pfizer dose. 🙏 Hoping for mild reaction, but so relieved to be closer to max immunity. Update - I am post second dose now, five hours. No fever, no exhaustion, no feeling ill at all. I will say that my upper arm is sore at and around the injection site, but really nothing to get worked up about. My brother, who is a 67 year old registered nurse who works at a military hospital, told me to drink extra water yesterday and today, which I did. So, maybe that’s something we can all do to reduce negative reaction to the vaccination. 🤷♀️. Bottom line - don’t be afraid to take the vaccine based on some rare, possibly unrelated negative experience of a RUclipsr. Two of my friends also got their second dose today and none of us are experiencing more than a sore arm. Be well and safe.

Hi doctor, greetings from India. I had my AZ vaccine yesterday in a very clean and sophisticated environment. It took only 10 minutes of process. But after vaccination, advised to wait 20 minutes for any reactions. So far so good. Even while I was in the vaccine centre , I could download my vaccine certificate from the website. This was pretty quicker than faster.
Not sure about downloading a certificate from a website. Couldn't that be open to fraud?
Depending on your age, side effects tend to occur after the second dose...

I do understand what you are saying about mask wearing but you have to remember there are people with conditions that don’t understand about the virus or don’t remember about the masks. When I take my mother who suffers from dementia (even though its just to medical appointments and for walks) she just does not remember and keeps pulling it below her nose as she says she cant breathe. I remind her every time but Some people have been horrible to her and she has become very distressed, please people think that not everyone has the capacity to understand the situation. She still needs medical treatment and exercise, the pandemic has sadly already cut off her vital visits and support from family and friends and her regular shopping trips.
People like your mum are exactly why the rest of us need to do our bit and distance, wear masks and get vaccinated. It gives people like her a greater chance to not catch the virus. I hope you are both keeping safe and she isn't too confused by all the changes going on. It can't be easy when you're already confused or unable to understand the changes in daily routine.
There will of course be folk like your mother but I believe they are a small minority in terms of the mask issue. Around 1% I've heard it reported have genuine issues. I see many people on a daily basis flaunting mask rules from all demographics. I cannot accept that 25% of a population at any given time are so seriously I'll or forgetful as to be incapable of something as simple as covering their noses. I mean, why have a mask on if it's under the chin? When people genuinely and consciously care about others around them, they'll wear a mask. Sadly there's too much of me me me me.
You may need to look at alternatives on your medical, as there are few private business doctors that are not accepting patient appointments either in person or virtual. (yes, I have seen seniors adversely affected by these types of events)

In a country where vaccine supply is constrained it isn’t as if the 1.6m people would have had the Pfizer or Moderna alternatives. Therefore you would have had 1.6m people with a risk of being exposed to the virus, I’m not a statistician but I would expect the death rate would have been higher in this case.

Yesterday I learnt of the death of my 88 years old aunt from CV-19. Vaccinated in the first wave she was in good spirits Saturday when my cousin and his wife visited her in her care home, plans were even made to take her out in their new car which enabled a wheel chair to be carried.
The shock phone call from the home yesterday morning, which up to now has been exemplary in protecting their residents, stunned my cousin, her so, such that emotions went from acute sadness to one of anger then despair.
Whatever people may think this pandemic isn't anywhere near over yet just because we are being vaccinated.

I had the virus in June 2020. Had mild symptoms for a few days. Went to Quest labs in July to see if I had IgG antibodies. I did. In Dec 2020 I did another test. Still had the antibodies. In February, I did 2 tests. Still showed the IgG antibodies from Quest and had Adaptive Biotechnology do a t- cell test thru their T-detect platform. Got the results 6 days later showing I have the T-cells too.
So, why would I ever get or need a vaccine? I haven't heard anything in your talk about an antibody passport. I will be furious if I have verifiable antibodies and T-cells and not be able to travel.

The only reason for a vaccine for you would be for the new variants when those vaccines are ready for the public. Pfizer claims to be able to neutralize the new variants. But both Pfizer and Moderna are upgrading their vacs to better handle the new variants. I doubt you have AB or T cells for new variants that are occuring allover the world. Reinfection has happened with new variants sometimes only a couple of months apart and usually more symptoms than original D614G. France now has a new variant that doesn't show up on current PCR tests.

The Moderna/ Pfizer vaccines only produce antibodies to the spike protein. Our bodies will produce antibodies, etc to various parts of the virus , like the capsular protein. In fact, if you go to Quest Labs after vaccinations and get their IgG antibody test, you will turn out neg because Quest tests for antibodies to the capsular protein and not the spike protein vs LabCorp that tests for antibodies to the spike protein.

Sorry Doc, I have to disagree about vaccine passports . What about the people who want travel but for whatever reason cannot take these vaccines, are they not supposed to travel. Not to mention that this disease is really only serious for older people so why would a person under 30 with good Health worry about getting a vaccine. Also why would one worry about someone getting on the plane without being vaccinated or not if they themselves are vaccinated . I thought that was the point of getting vaccinated so that you don't have to worry running into someone who isn't.

I myself am not looking to go on hols for at least 2022 or longer. But will start to go to some places here in the UK. Id prefer testing before and after and of course covid proof insurance. I think get tested an hour or two before traveling and again when on the way back. Common sense tells me it would be far far more sensible if every country kept themselves to themselves and concentrated on getting a good percentage of their population vaccinated before travel gets going again. But of course its all money and politics isn't it?

Simple question about the Astra Zeneca vaccine and the UK: we have given pretty much literally an order of magnitude more people that vaccine than Germany has, so logically said thrombosis condition should be showing up as around 70 cases in the UK in that scenario, where are those cases? Why have tens of cases of this not been reported in the UK if the Astra Zeneca vaccine is supposedly to blame for it?
In Germany the AZ vaccine was only available to people under 65 years old until last week. This is why this vaccine was only vaccinated here for teachers, police officers, medical workers' associations and other mostly young and healthy people. After this vaccination program was started on a large scale, these incidents occurred in a short time. This type of thrombosis usually affects young people, mostly women. Perhaps it was not statistically noticeable in England because mainly elderly people were vaccinated with it.

Until then, I think it was right to stop the vaccinations. You shouldn't take any risks, especially with the young and healthy. The risk of Covid in this age group is too low for that.

Another reason maybe that we have a full approval in Europe and in GB there is only an emergency approval for this vaccine. That means in England the state is liable for such consequences, in the EU the manufacturer is liable. Because of that the british government may not be interested as much in investigating such incidents.
