Not to be dramatic! but i feel emotional! Why did i not see this video earlier! Thank you so much for really breaking this down, i struggled with this topic for so long! God Bless you! This was really helpful! Please do more videos! Thanks :)
Having used the Osborne Business Tax tutorial, workbook, AAT Lifelong Portal and First Intuition RUclips videos - I was still not fully understanding basis periods. This video is perfect and covers every possible scenario in one viewing. I've finally understood basis periods with just under a week to go until my Business Tax exam, thank you so much!
If I said I love you, is it too far? This has been the most PERFECT explanation for a topic that left me confused for a very, very long time. I really REALLY appreciate this video, thank you.
Basis period is short but frequently examined as it causes so much trouble for us students......this video is by far the clearest and most helpful.....Sir i salute you!!! #gratitude
I have my exams next week and thank God I decided to look for explanations on youtube on this subject! I just get lost in the books. THANK YOU FOR YOUR EXPLANATION!
@@aswataxstudy88 thanks , looking forward for the new videos! You are a very good tutor. I have tried opentuition, but you explain much much much better , so I have got it from first time. Many thanks again, as I was desperate for this topic 😂
A most superb video! I suspect the rules are partly intended to coerce sole traders and partnerships to align there accounting periods with the financial year?
Do you have a trading losses video, you mention it I think in this video on basis periods but I can’t find it in your video list? I thought this was a great explanation and it’s helped me a lot on something that I just couldn’t quite get my head around. Thank you very much indeed
Hi Omar thanks a million for the video My question is' if business for Acc period is 01 Jan to 31 dec 20 with acc profit of 10000£ And company ceases to trade on 01 June 21 with accounting profit of 5000£ what would be the treatment for 2020/21 And for 21/22
In the UK, the tax year begins 6th April and end 5th April. Random and weird? Most definitely! 😂 There are current plans to potentially change to 31st March or 31st December... so we will wait to see what happens!
studying for my acca tax paper and this concept had been really challenging until I found this video.
thank you.

Good question but to be honest, no idea why they use 6th to 5th April. Maybe that needs to be looked at...

Pls can you share the link for overlap losses
Hi Omar thanks a million for the video
My question is' if business for Acc period is 01 Jan to 31 dec 20 with acc profit of 10000£
And company ceases to trade on 01 June 21 with accounting profit of 5000£ what would be the treatment for
2020/21
And for 21/22
That was fantastic, however as for ceasing trade, where that 5000 £ coming from?
It's overlap we got earlier period
Thank you for this.
My pleasure!

Wow. This is really helpful. Much appreciated. My question is, in the short AP, why wasn't the 2nd tax year made from 6th April 2020 - 5th April 2021?
Thanks.
Good question and the answer quite simply is 'those are the rules' LOL.
@@aswataxstudy88 Lol. Okay. Thanks very much for the video
Please why are you using 5th April? Or that's the technique
