To be fair, teams that rely on freshman stars almost never win it all. You need 3rd and 4th year players to win it all in college.

I'm a life long Kentucky fan. I'm going to be honest, I'm feeling conflicted because I have so many good memories the past 15 years watching these Kentucky teams with my family, but this deal is best for Arkansas and Kentucky. You can't take away years between 2009 to 2015 from Coach Cal, but the last five years have been painful and embarrassing to be a Kentucky fan. 1 NCAA tournament win, 2 SEC tournament wins, worst record in Kentucky basketballs 100+ your history. The Kentucky wildcats is all I have. I don't have any other favorite teams. So it's been very painful the past few years, and its time.

2015 was one of the greatest things to watch as a student, thought we had it locked up. However, he always seemed to get his players to adjust in high pressure situations. Loved him as a coach for my Cats, but it feels it is just time for both sides to embrace some change.

Let me get this straight, Coach Calipari doesn't embrace the transfer portal and primarily builds his teans with freshman. People are up in arm.
Coach Prime embraces the transfer portal, and people say he should recruit more freshmen. You can win anyway you see fit in the arena of fan/press opinion.

I don't think he is a bad coach, I think 1 and done's can not win games vs experienced teams, even if they do not have big stars. Minus his AD team, his absolute best team all year included the Harrison twins who were multi year stars. I think some coaches get railroaded by the NCAA, like Kelvin Sampson, he sent text messages and got sanctions for IU......DRose had a fill in take SAT's, thats bad, but Coach Cal may not have even known.

He is going to an inferior program. Also many of the fans including me have been wanting him gone for years. He refuses to teach free throws. Even in years Kentucky couldn’t make them. He once said the regular season didn’t mean anything. And his players first mentality ruined Kentucky. It should be about the historic program and fans. I hope for a great coach but it isn’t going to be easy. I want Dan Hurley or Nat Oates. As long as we don’t end up with another Billy Gillespie.

90% of success are the players you bring in. his 10% coaching must have sucked but also having a new team filled with new OADs each season resulted in early ncaat exits. dook joined the oad only a couple years after cal and had similar results. the batch of Fr. dook is getting next year may be the most successful class on paper in history. we shall see if they can be like '22 or '15 or like the other early ncaat exits with future NBAers, some future all stars with no tourney success.
