    Without spoilers, who is your favorite character in The Green Bone Saga?

    • @zachary37
      @zachary37 Год назад +1

      I loved Lan, Shae, and Anden the most probably, but in terms of fascinating characters it's hard to beat either Hilo or Ayt Mada.

      Along with those already mentioned here, Wen is also a great character.

    Wow 🤩 This is definitely one of the best reviews for the Green Bone Saga that I have heard. I believe you are absolutely right about the comparison with the Godfather. Being a fan of both, I dreaded that it would end in a similar fashion and was relieved that it didn’t. I found Green Bone to be a lot more optimistic and pleasurable than The Godfather. Though I love the Godfather, it is a depressing story.
    I read this trilogy this past summer and I still can’t stop thinking of the characters. I love Hilo and Anden but something about Hilo is just unforgettable. Maybe because I am older but I enjoyed his progression and growth as a character. Thank you again for another great review 🤓

    Great review man! I’m excited to eventually continue in this series and see where Lee takes this. I’ve only read JC so far and I’m especially interested to see the character arcs of Shae and Anden as the series progresses.

    Honestly, no more words needed. You nailed this review!!
    I personally enjoyed book 1 and 2, but didn't completely get the insane hype... until I read Jade Legacy. And I've been wanting to re-read the whole thing ever since finishing the final book, but I don't think I am ready yet to put myself through that type of emotional turmoil again, lol.
    The character work is indeed the absolute highlight of this series. They are all so messily human and I love that.
    Loved hearing your thoughts 🤩

      Thank you so much, Esmay! Jade Legacy is certainly one of the most satisfying conclusions I've read to a fantasy series in a long time! It really knocked it out of the park in so many ways and I couldn't agree with you more on the character work! Thank you so much for the kind words and for checking out the video!

    I've only read the first one but as you said, I appreciated how each character was complex and had a distinct voice you could empathize with. When I was in Hilo's head I could understand him and his frustration at Shae, and then I'd be in Shae's head and understood her frustration at Hilo. Anyways, great review, excited to read the rest of the series!

    I have read Jade City last year and I didn't really care about the setting and characters. Given that almost everyone praises this trilogy for its character work, it feels like I'm missing something.. do you think it's worth to continue on or should I just drop it if I didn't really vibe with JC?

    • @TallGuyReads
      @TallGuyReads  Год назад +1

      I would definitely give JW a shot...I think it's a pretty big shift in storytelling and I know plenty of people who didn't love JC, but JW sold them on the rest of the series! Let me know what you decide to do!

    The series in itself sounds interesting, and I will probably give it a go sooner or later. However, is it really something special?
    As I see it, the specialty has much more to do with its context than its contents. Am I wrong in my interpretation?

    • @TallGuyReads
      @TallGuyReads  Год назад +1

      I would undoubtedly say that this series is special in both its context and its contents

      The contents are absolutely what make the series special. The character work alone is impressive, and getting to see these characters develop over long periods of time, while the world changes around them, is fascinating.

    • @toinenosoite3173
      @toinenosoite3173 Год назад

      @@zachary37 Thank you for that. Well, then I really have to try the series.
      However, please let me explain my first comment. It had a lot to do with the strange fascination of everything Asian in the US - something that I do not think is so common here in Europe. It is like with Manga - a style I do not care for at all, but seems to be very popular especially over there.
