- In December 2023, senior Tibetan monks gathered in London for the Tibetan Sand Mandala of Wisdom ceremony, hosted by the Pure Land Foundation.
Over three days, the monks meticulously constructed a vibrant mandala dedicated to Manju Shiri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom.
This ancient Buddhist tradition symbolises the spiritual journey and aids deep collective meditation for universal benefit. Each grain of sand is blessed with prayers to form a geometric masterpiece.
In the ritual, the mandala was dismantled, illustrating impermanence of life and teaching the principle of non-attachment. The sands were released into the River Thames, spreading blessings to all and acting as a reminder to the connection to the universe.
