SO glad you went to Dumbo! You CAN sit on the top of the ferry! It’s deceiving bc the front bit is roped off…once inside the ferry you walk to the back and up those back stairs!
The "bright red bird' is a male cardinal. They are common across the Northeast and Midwest US.

We don't have the red cardinals in California so I freaked out the first time I saw one. They are gorgeous!
Cardinals are somewhat common at least in the Midwest where I’m from. St. Louis baseball team is the Cardinals named after the birds. Also there are Bluejays which are bright blue birds that are around in the mid west similar to cardinals.

Watching your vlogs brings back memories when I was in New York. When I go back I’m definitely going to target as I couldn’t go last time I was there. I went up the Statue of Liberty that was amazing. If you go back to Brooklyn bridge take a pen and a padlock.

We went to Las Vegas and La in September and everything was locked away cosmetics and alcohol and sweets all needed a attendant to come and give you it
Ridiculous really
It stopped us purchasing a lot of things because waiting for staff to get the stuff was a ball ache as apposed to just throwing it all In our trolley xx

The red bird is a cardinal and I believe it represents the same as a robin for us.
Robins mean the same for us in NYC... Spring 🌱👍🏻 we have Cardinals and Blue Jays too
Love love New York was there last year we did a cruise to the Carribean for 2 weeks and then stayed with my dads sister in Yonkers it was the holiday of a life time.

The bird is a cardinal, you can find them all over the place USA but they are the state bird of Arizona. My father in law had a mated pair that used to come and tap on his window in Florida, we loved watching them. ❤

The red candy bar in your MIL's treat is a Crackle. It's like a Nestlé Crunch. Basically milk chocolate and rice crispies. Whatchamacallit was my fav as a kid!

Loving these vlogs as it’s bringing me all the memories back for when I was there for a week at Xmas last year. Was amazing to be there for Xmas but the amount of people was way more than I expected so queues everywhere. Looks like you had an amazing time xx

You are so lucky seeing a Cardinal I’ve always hoped I’d see one whilst on holiday in the US. I believe the males are all red.
I saw a documentary about Grand Central Station many years ago. It was going to be pulled down as it was in such a bad state of repair. Jackie Kennedy Onassis was outraged by this and started a successful campaign to save and renovate it. Thank goodness she did.

I've never been to NY - I just googled where Dumbo actually is and found out it stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass... well I never knew that! 😘

As other's have said, the bird is a male Cardinal. The female has more brown with a red beak and a few red marks/feathers on their face/head. Many people believe that cardinals are their deceased loved ones coming for a visit to say hello. They are gorgeous to see in the winter against the white snow.

I’m a Brit now living in Canada the red bird is a male cardinal the female is brown we feed them in the garden here when it snows and they are on feeders look do Christmassy …enjoy New York we drove to New York from Ontario a few years ago took 12 hours lol

Kristina I was fully in the moment with my kiddos. From our NYC trip there was 45 mins footage filmed over 6 full days. The joy we all get watching them back. And past trips. How lucky to relive special moments! x
