Did the same on my M550, was the hardest mod I've done but so worth it. Grab a stage 2 DME or BM3 tune and consider custom or Dinan 3 inch midlines (with x-pipe) and a Dinan axel-back muffler for insane performance (while retaining factory exhaust valve control). Then you have a 650 hp monster that is essentially straight piped in sport/sport+ and a quiet luxury cruiser in comfort/eco-pro modes!
That’s awesome!! Check some of my other videos we got this thing to stage 2 on an E30 blend and it’s a monster !
Did you end up with constant check engine light?
@@mikimiki195 yes but flash ecu tune fixes that. No issues keeping it off running BM3 Stage 2 for me.

I have a m550i just picked it up. It’s of bootmod3 stage one tune. Want to do intakes axle back exhaust and downpipes. How loud is yours? It’s still a daily driver so it can’t be too crazy.

i got a 23' m550i, any tips or tunes i could get since the ecu is locked? also would you recommend a res delete for the first "mod"?
I think tuning wise you might have to wait just a little bit for something like a JB4 to come out (if it’s not already)which is a piggyback system and tricks the system into making more boost or the other way might be to get an ECU that’s already unlocked from a previous year m550i that is compatible.
As for the res delete you really can’t go wrong with it! It gives a great sound and can be done pretty cheaply from a good quality local shop ! Only thing about it is that it’s not super noticeable in the cabin still which is all dependent on the driver ;)
Is everything else stock with the exhaust? And did the drone get really bad on the freeway at 70-80mph ?
If I remember correctly, the resonators were also removed, but that initially didn’t make much of a difference sound wise . As for drone, it was not existent. The cabin is super insulated on these cars.
@@ParkerTheRapper I have the 750i m sport, so it’s the exact same engine and and size etc. but just with a muffler delete the drone is unpleasant smh :(

The exhaust also has a resonator delete so that makes it a decent bit louder

How long did this install take I have the same downpipes and was looking to do it myself as well. Also did you follow instructions or just figured it out?
On the 2018+ models years expect this to be an all day job just incase! It was a lot of trial and error even with the introductions provided with the downpipes…simply because it was instructions from the early model years. Doable at home for sure just time consuming

@@AuReXBoBo honestly we just followed the instructions that were provided with the pipes as well as ones we found online for removing the cats but there aren’t many tips I can give other than be extra careful with all the plastic piping, we broke quite a few. The O2 sensors were sort of tricky when it came to getting them back in due to the mesh insulation and cups that they sit in. We ended up putting the cups in first and then the insulation rather than doing the cups on the outside of the insulation. And when it came to fitting the pipes to the main exhaust, it could’ve been a fitment issue, but those were a little bit of a pain, but if you get some thing like an exhaust spreader, it will make your life a lot easier. I believe they can be rented from any auto store or purchased for very cheap. That’s all that I remember off the top of my head as this install was quite a while ago.
Do you have to tune the car after the downpipe install?
It’s not 100% necessary but it’s definitely a good idea to do so. The car will run with a check engine light and a tune will really take advantage of the extra flow and you don’t have to worry about the car freaking out since it’s got no cat.

Did you end up having check engine light?
If you don’t tune the car , yes you will but you can flash a stage 0 tune to just get rid of the light if you don’t want to add power

@@lmSteveo I’ve got a couple more videos of the car on my channel. Tuning the car using BM3 and the Downpipes is all that was done, but the other videos have some driving and such
@@ParkerTheRapper I have a 21 and thinking about deleting both resonators. I don’t want to do DPs since it will trigger the check engine light and I’m not ready for a tune right now.
@@lmSteveo the res delete is a great option ! This car also had them deleted and it was (in our opinion) still way too quite but made the pops way more prevalent
