You have got such wonderful beautiful fabrics and I know you will let your imagination soar. I’m like others maybe go try on a few things to see what suits you. Also I’m retired and a senior citizen so I like easy to put on and off things and comfortable. However I go to church and I go out with family and I go for appointments so I want to look nice also. I’m still a woman and I still want to have a nice hairdo & a bit of makeup & nice comfortable stylish clothes & accessories. You sure have a nice start of fabric to get started on some nice things. Also look and see maybe if you can coordinate things to stretch your wardrobe. Oh and just have a great and relaxing time sewing.

Oh, sweet Claire! What a gorgeous stash! I loved every single piece. Lots and lots of great pairing options. Once you get the dress fitting the way you want, you can always change the neckline, sleeves, and length to get different looks. I made ten completely different looking tops from one pattern by hacking the living daylights out of it. If you don't think certain colors are flattering on you, then use that fabric for a skirt or trousers. Put some distance between your beautiful face and the fabric. I have been looking forward to this video . . . and you did NOT disappoint. You never disappoint. It was so fun! Thanks for sharing your treasure of a stash with us. Btw, you know what else is gorgeous? Your skin! My gosh . . . it is flawless. Looking beautiful, love. Bye for now.

Hi Claire, you are looking well. 2 years ago, I stopped working because I had medical issues. I will not be returning to work. Therefore, my days consist of mostly staying at home, quilting, etc. I am not a garment sewer. I bring this up because the clothes I used to wear, when I was a working professional now sit in my closet. I have no use for skirts, blazers or dresses. This is something you need to ask yourself. If you don't go out much, would you really wear dresses, skirts and blazers ? Some of your fabric could be used to spruce up your new apartment. For example, throw pillows, curtains, pillow cases. Just a thought. Cheers from Canada.

Pale pink Irish linen would be a beautiful dress. The peacock pattern would make a fun shopping tote. Ditto for the magazine covers. The brown twill as maybe a swing style coat? Hawaii print as a summer dress. Lavender linen with flowers as a blazer. So much fabric, so many fun possibilities!

If it were me, I’d organize my fabric by color way. That way, you can figure out a basic wardrobe of pieces that all go together to mix and match. Once I settled on the main colors and neutrals I really loved, choosing an outfit is dead easy because everything goes with everything else. Personally, I’d start with the leggings since you’re already settled on the pattern and fabric. Jeans/jeggings go with everything, which is a bonus. I love the idea of the oversized shirt in the pink linen, and the color is fabulous on you. I’d do the same with that fabulous embroidered linen at the very beginning. You could add white camis or tees (or both) to wear under, or wear them on their own.

    • @Penguinandpear
      @Penguinandpear  7 дней назад +1

great advice. I do want jeans camis and shirts to wear and to wear neutrals. I just feel I should use this fabric because I already own it.

Hi Claire, I made the Pattern Emporium Bestie Tee with my jersey that hardly had any stretch. There are so many options to make. It’s well worth the money and effort of printing and sticking it together. The instructions give you a list of pages to print for each option too, so you don’t need to print the whole pattern. 💞

I think you would look good in a sheath dress and a long jacket. I think the magazine fabric would be really edgy for the jacket. You could use the brown linen for the sheath dress. Just take the jacket pattern you have and lengthen it.

Making a dress from the Hawaiian fabric is a great idea. And I would love a cardigan style jacket in the pink and grey houndstooth. I like your idea for pajamas made of the pastel pieces you have. Maybe the brown twill could make a pair of trousers and a bag or two. That’s all the thoughts I have 😊. I find it easier to come up with ideas for other people than myself!

I like most of your fabrics and the idea of a feminine jacket made of the wool fabric. I want to suggest something you do BEFORE you start making clothes with your fabrics. If it is handy, go to the shops and try on clothes to find out what looks good on your body now. I had gained weight and my body changed (I actually had a hind end!) and then I lost the weight and my body didn't go back to the shape it was before I gained the weight. I had to try on clothes to find what suited my body now.

The pink linen would make lovely wide leg pants. The brown thicker fabric could be a nice long winter skirt, kinda a-line plus. I've been searching for a skirt pattern like Supernanny wears, a-line with a flounce at the bottom. If you come across one let me know! The Hawaiian print is beautiful! Whatever you make with it will look great!

I really like the Bettine dress pattern(I spelt that wrong) it was the first thing I thought off when you showed the denim colour blue fabric. Then you said exactly what I was thinking. I love the Indian blue fabric with the crabs. I thought a dress as it would be nice to show it off in public. Nice to see Frederick, well his tail anyway. Good to see you making plans and your positive attitude. You may not realise this but watching you makes me feel positive too, as I want to do some sewing too and I haven't for years. The only problem with me is I've got to do the cutting out first and that's the part I don't like. Take care❤

These are my ideas (nothing new I'm afraid) :
    1. A shirt or a skirt
    2. A kimono, a short or trousers
    3. A pajama
    4. A dress or a shirt
    5. Long dress shirt (may be the same idea as you, sorry, my english sucks...)
    6. A bag, a skirt or a jacket
    7. Yes, definitely a summer dress !
    8. Instead of a pajama may be an apron or a skirt
    9. Cushions
    10. A suit
    11. A summer dress or trousers
    12. Yes bags or simply a sheet you can put on your sofa
    13. A suit
    14. A T-Shirt with long sleeves
    15. A jacket and a skirt
Of course it depends on what you need and what you like.
Good luck in finding good ideas
    😅

I keep thinking of pj's with some of the lightweight cottons. The mag covers, I thought first of like a big floor pillow for extra seating, bags, and I saw a few in there that might look nice as half curtains. I don't know your window situation, but I know you'll find a way to use it because you are on a roll! OH, I wondered if you might need a bathrobe, or a caftan for around the house on cold mornings this winter? That's on my list, I'm kind of wanting to make myself a simple kimono this winter. Thanks for making me think tonite!

The Hawaiian shirt fabric, I’m picturing a dress you made a year or two ago (will try to find). It was a drop waist empire waist (so above natural waist and below typical empire waist). It had such beautiful flow, my favorite of all your makes, and there was an end of video sequence where you were outside in the sun, and twirling or swaying that dress. Of course I always want to see you use that pattern again, with 2 thoughts: not sure if it was knit or woven fabric, so pattern might not be suitable this time; and it might be a lot of work (⏰toile, etc.) to use that pattern now. But what I loved best about it is that, to me, you looked more yourself in that dress than any other pattern. (If I can find it, I’ll post the link
to your video here). Nice stash, I can see I need to get busy too 😜

@@Penguinandpear My reply got lost, will try again. I am still looking for the actual sewing video, but I’m pretty sure the dress is on the right of the thumbnail for “Homemade or Handmade”. Not quite sure until I see it in motion. Is that thumbnail the Tilly and the Buttons pattern ? It is so pretty. P.S. I know the video I’m looking for ended with about a minute of you outside in the sun, modeling the dress. Maybe that will help find it. (I have a deadline at work, so it may take me a few days to find. )
