Basically, he's overthinking it, and that causes doubt. A person who embraces the will of D just rolls with it. Luffy doesn't really care about his D initial, but he embodies it in spirit, so it doesn't matter. But Shanks is thinking about it like a celestial dragon would; that is has to be by birthright.
it comes down to the king of the pirates does what he wants. If Shanks wanted to surpass Roger, then let a prophesy decide for him, that's why he's not the one
I think Shanks is finally going to find the OP because he believes that Luffy will soon and he wants to be there waiting for him. Maybe his purpose is to test Luffy to make sure that he's ready to take on the entire world. Luffy has to be stronger than Shanks to do that. This solution allows Luffy and Shanks to fight but doesn't require Shanks to be evil. So, Roger may have told Shanks that he needs to wait for the one who will bring the dawn and help them to do it.
True I was about to say it would make sense if he would want to atleast try challenge the person closet to getting the one piece before completely abandoning his dream
I think that one of Oda's inspirations for One Piece was this really old anime where, at the end, when the protagonist got to the last island, it was the place where a very old, forgotten and technologically advanced Kingdom resided (!), its machines were powered by the sun (!!), the man guarding the island was the boys father (!!!) and the key to opening the gates of this city was a necklace the protagonist had with him this entire time (!!!!!!!!!!). I think Oda might not do exactly the same thing, but I think it will be something along those lines. Shanks being there and being the last test before Luffy can enter the island makes sense.
The name of the anime is The Mysterious Cities of Gold, by the way. The protagonist is a boy with the power to bring out the sun (!!!!!!!!). The amount of similarities to One Piece is uncanny.
Thanks for bringing this up... I once assumed Shanks was like Whitebeard. In that, they refused to be the king of the pirates for his their reasons. But recent events have put this into question.
@@iiD_ Buggy thought Shanks adventure would continue after Roger. Buggy seemed to think Shanks wanted to find the One Piece, and was pretty betrayed when Shanks decided "nah" last minute. It could indicate that Shanks wanted to be king, but something changed around Roger's death, as opposed to he simply never desired it. And Oda could potentially use this as fuel for a Shanks/Luffy duel, if such a thing ever happens. "You are what I always wanted to be, lets see"
I have a feeling that roger could have also said something along the lines of “look, I know you’re someone who craves freedom, but you need to maintain this horrible status quo until the one we’re waiting for arrives.” Cause at that point in his life shanks definitely knew he was a celestial dragon, he knew about the wrongs in the world, and based on what we’ve seen in recent chapters, this drive to protect those weaker than him, being told that would have crushed him
This would be such a sad story for Shanks, I love it. I would be super interested to see a video about the Gorosei and their planets in relation to the Divine Comedy by Dante. Merphy Napier posted a video about it today, but did not go into depth (see the "Recent Chapters Spoilers" timestamp). This has a lot of potential imo (although it is not easy to directly link it as she mentions), and I would love to see your take on it.
I think roger told shanks what his real name was that's why shanks cried because that's all he wanted, to know who he was and who is family is. told buggy that he is not going for the one piece yet because in his mind he had to get info on who and what are his family ties
I actually have a theory about the Gomu Gomu no Mi and Joynoy's Will: It's that JoyBoy and Nika are synonyms of each other (and also the same person) and that the Gomu Gomu no Mi is nothing more than the container of JoyBoy's Will. So the Gomu Gomu no Mi actually actively inticed and detered people from eating it because it knew that the one eating it would get their will merged with that of Joyboy. So it had to be the absolut perfect match that only the Will of Joyboy could recognize. That explains why Luffy transforms from a bratty kid to confronting the Bandits only a short time after eating the Devil Fruit. So the Will of JoyBoy inside the fruit actually could sway the decision making of people that came near it. Similar to all Zoan Fruits having their own will, only much more stronger I also think that Roger knew from the Poneglyphs about exactly that and thought that his son would be that perfect match to Joyboy's Will. He gave Shanks the mission to acquire the Fruit and in the worst case scenario force feed it to Roger's Son Ace. That was also the reason why Shanks was in Fushia Village. It also explains why the most powerful and skillful Member of the CP9 Who-is-Who was so easily defeated by Shanks' Crew. The Fruit manipulated the Will and/or thoughts of Who-is-Who because Who-is-Who knew that he had to defend the Fruit with his life and soul. Who-is-Who also knew he would be executed if he lost this Devil Fruit. But then we see him in Wano as Kaido's subordinate explaining to Jinbei this backstory. Shanks liked and knew Luffy but had no plans turning him into a pirate or the reincarnted Joyboy. The Gomu Gomu no Mi recognizes Luffy as the perfect match and enticed him to eat it so the Will of Joyboy could be merged with Luffy in order to fulfill the Legend of Joyboy's Return that can do that at which Joyboy failed over 800 years ago. The moment Luffy ate the fruit, Shanks and Lucky Roo panicked. Not because an incredibly important and expensive fruit was eaten but because they thought the wrong person had eaten the Gomu Gomu no Mi and therefore the Will of Joyboy being merged with the wrong person or even being lost completely. But then Shanks thought back what Oden had read to Roger from on of the Poneglyphs: "The one to eat the Container with Joyboy's Will, shall be the perfect match for Joyboy's Will and will be Person to fulfill the Plan and Goal that he, Joyboy, could not." So Shanks excepted that Joyboy's Will found the perfect match in Luffy's Will to merge with. From this on he took up the mantle of guiding the reemargence of Joyboy so that Roger's plan, for which he was to early would come true. So what do you think? If you want to, you can turn it into a theory video.
100% my bet is shanks was told to steal the fruit and travek around untik you find someone that can eat the fruit. As the Wg has said the fruit has its own will and has evaded them for 800 years. They freaked out as the fruit finally allowed someone to eat it.
Great video joyboy, i think whatever rogers last words to to shanks was i believe it was too blunt and harsh as it reminds me of luffy being blunt to tama about ace's death but rogers words gave shanks a new mission in life which required him to make a detour to his dream of getting the one piece to be a gatekeeper for it as he had to wait for joyboy to take center stage first. I agree that shanks isnt evil but oda wants to keep us guessing if shanks is gonna try and steal the one piece from luffy at the last moment, oda is a master troll
Lets not forget the important theme of inherited wills. By Wano its made absolutely clear to the audience that Luffy is the one who inhereited Roger's will. In personality, in dreams, in the way they live the two are parallels of each other. Shanks may know what Luffy's real dream is, its not being the Pirate King that is simply a requirement to obtain that dream. And said dream is always received with mixed reactions, some think its the funniest thing, others find it awe inspiring, while few find it absolutely ridiculous. And Yamato comfirmed this dream was held by Roger for us. If anything reminded Shanks of his captain, it would be Luffy's wild dream. Mind you we the audience do not know what it is. Its just as mysterious as the One Piece. It would not shock me if that dream had an intrinsic connection to it in fact.
I think in his last sentence roger shared his dream with Shanks and told him to search for the chosen one, who shares the same dream. Only Rayleigh and shanks are confirmed to know the dream, so it is nothing Roger shared freely (just like Luffy). Luffy already confirmed that being the freest man and therefore the pirate king is the precondition for his dream, so I think the dream is to share this freedom with everyone bringing one piece to the world (yes, it was always in the title). Remember when Roger told Rayleigh, he won‘t die? He knew he would reincarnate. Devil fruits also reincarnate. Possibly Roger possessed the Nika fruit but it was showing no ability at all so he seemed like a normal human. Assuming that rogers soul became one with the Nika fruit and shanks went out to search for the fruit of his beloved father figure. I like the idea that shanks expected rogers son to be the best guess to become his reincarnation. So he went for fusha village as roger told him it is Garps hometown but ace was in the forests. Instead shanks met Luffy. So he waited patiently for ace and tried to attract him with the nika fruit as the fruit would hide itself from any unworthy user and get its way to the right heir. The soul from the nika fruit attracted Luffy instead and shanks was shocked as Luffy didn’t mention his dream before eating the fruit. For getting back the fruit shanks would have needed to kill Luffy or let go of his dream. Due to Shanks kind hearted character, he would never kill innocent people and surely no innocent child. At least Luffy is always introducing himself as monkey D Luffy, so Shanks was carefully watching Luffys behavior now. Before the stinkfish attack Luffy must have shared the dream with shanks. Shank now knew he had to save Luffy to accomplish his own dream as thereby he would be rescuing rogers reincarnation Gol D./Monkey D Luffy (two D. Initials form a circle, standing for completeness, misinterpreted by roger to be the child of two Ds, forcing it by making a baby with Portgas D. rouge). Being convinced Luffy is the chosen one, shanks gives the strawhat to Luffy as it always belonged to roger. Shanks exactly knows that Luffy would eventually become a great pirate and finally give the hat back to shanks the day when Luffy accomplishes rogers dream. According to Vegapunk the devil fruit’s origin was imagination. I think this not the case for joy boys and Imus devil fruits, as those seem like the two original powers of the god and the devil. Vegapunk also explains that the Sun God Nika fruit is capable to bring everything to life that is imagined, implies Joy Boy was the one who created all various fruits in the first place during his laugh tale journey as he was granting his everyone their funny dreams e.g. his Clown fellow to become a chop chop man just for entertaining on their journey, not understanding what mighty powers he actually created. Joyboy being a giant lived then long enough to see the aftermath of his laughtale and that the powers now fell into the wrong hands of the 20 kings, who started to extinguish all other inhuman races. So he noted all down on the rio porneglyph on the island of laughtale for the future generations before he finally got killed by Imu. Imu took joy boys giant strawhat as a trophy and preserved it in ice. After Luffy eventually defeats Imu with laws help who undoes the eternal life surgery by sacrificing his life. I can imagine a last panel where Luffy stands in front of shanks grave yard, lays down the strawhat, thanks him for the guidance in his last life and then destroys all devil fruit powers with the power of his awakened god fruit by imagining a world without them in one piece and vanishes during those actions, freeing the world from the cursed devil fruit powers that brought centuries of evilness to the world and triggering the dawn of a peaceful new world. (Hopefully I am not right and Goda has some better idea, as this sounds too much like Attack on Titan😅)
I like your theory but I think your overthinking about a few things. Roger wasn't the right man for the job, poseidon, shirahoshi, wasn't born, and Roger was at the end of his life where he stood ill and knew there was so much to be done to bring harmony back to a despotic world. Bear in mind too he probably found out till the end he needed the Nika fruit to accomplish this,Roger wasn't a devil fruit user, and must have laughed so hard at the irony of reaching the final island with the full knowledge of being empty handed
@@axelgear666 just imagine what would happen to any human if you eat choppers human human fruit. Wouldn’t they stay the same? The elder stars only explained that in most cases the fruit abilities are a rubber body and it is hard to awake. It would just be a funny twist, if roger had the nika but it never has shown any ability at all. That would make me laugh even harder in rogers position and even further underline the fact he’s not the chosen one. Like the fruit hid itself from the government in the strongest D alive, but that was the whole purpose of roger having it to pass it to the next D, Luffy, who was the one roger was waiting for, as he was capable of utilizing and awakening the fruit to become joyboy. I cannot remember seeing gold roger swim around just like Oda showcased with Rayleigh (calm belt/ Amazon lily) I think Oda anyways added the Nika idea too late to the spry bringing many inconsistencies to it as a whole. Why did the government go not harder on Luffy in Ennies Lobby and Marineford, if they always tried to get their hands on the fruit and it hid itself from them.. why didn’t the 5 elder stars recognize the fruit early and do everything to enprison Luffy (kizaru could have easily handle the situation in ennies lobby without kuma being around)
@martinjordan2023 there is always an effect with devil fruits, I dont buy the theory that roger had a devil fruit, he likely only knew of its existence when he arrived to laughtale, it part of the gag of being too late to do anything about imu and the celestials. The gorosei even admitted how hard the Nika fruit was to acquire and how it can escape anyone's grasp. Zoans have a will of their own too. Shanks is an interest character, he's neither the chosen one but yet another inheritor of Roger's will till the right inheritor stumbles the across Nika fruit. Luffy is a by product of chance and destiny meeting together Roger probably hedged his bets, if his son wasn't the sun god then it likely be someone else Shanks is there to guide the sun god
I like your thoughts and I am totally with you. I just never heard anyone sharing the idea of roger having the nika fruit and I still think it is logically possible. Shanks has the blood of the celestial dragons as a figarland. Just like Sabo he was mainly influenced by the D. As he was raised by roger. But he never had the birthright to become Joyboy/Nika. If paramecia powers affect the blood, the rubber part of Luffys fruit has definitely affected his. As the kingdom of the D. were technologically advanced, they could have also changed their lineage factor. So shanks could never become Rogers heir, although he was raised to be a D. and inherited rogers will. Luffy on the other hand never met roger and still had the same dream without being directly influenced. Oda is Mixing all religions in one piece. There’s the Adam and Eve trees from the Bible, Asuras from Hinduism/Buddhism, so either the will inheritance is also a technological thing or some reincarnation mechanism. Egg head Stella’s even share the same brain and still have different wills. For the technological explanation my best guess would be a paw paw fruit awakened ancient user, who triggered the the will of D and will inheritance, e.g. making the dreams physical and part of the lineage factor. Devil fruits also seem to be the outcome of the ancient kingdoms technology, but let’s see how Oda will turn this out to be. Brooks fruit also has shown none affect during his lifetime. Why did Oda even choose rubber to be the side effect of the son god nika fruit in the first place? Son Gods can be found in all old religions. Those stand for life, for fire, for the king, etc. So why rubber? The Gomu gomu no mi is the name in the book of devil fruits where the world government erased the name of the mythical Zoan fruit Human human(Ito ito no mi, model sun god nika. The same confirmed type of fruit is the Buddha fruit, which produced shock waves. Senghok has no paramecia effect at all and you would not see any clue he has a devil fruit. Isn’t this the case for all Zoan? Who was not surprised when rob lucci turned into a Leopard. So wouldn’t it be normal for the Nika fruit to have no affect on the human body in its human form? All regular Zoan without rumble ball have the three states of pure human, half animal, pure animal transformation. Additionally there’s the awakening. Luffy shows following: human form became paramecia, his gears look like Zoan forms, but have nothing to do with his Sun god fruit. He is not partly laughing and partly playing the drums of liberation. The nika powers are only shown with awakening. So if rogers blood reacted to the nika fruit like it was a Zoan, not a paramecia, I would also expect no change in his human form body. The nika fruit is just pretty strange, even more hinting on being the original fruit of the tree of eden.
@martinjordan2023 it's not logically possible for roger to have had the Nika fruit, the govn would have noticed straight away and upon his death tried to reclaim it.
I think Shanks knows the One Piece needed to be found at a certain time (thanks to what Roger told him) and is more of someone who simply wants it to be found rather than the one who needs to find it. In stating that, I don't mean he doesn't desire the One Piece for himself; the treasure is the crowning achievement of the ambitions of pirates, but he wants to make sure that in pushing pirates like Luffy to strive for that remnant of Roger's legacy that it will find the hands of the right person who will bring about the promised dawn.
Its still yet to be determined how important Momonosuke actually is. If it turns out that he is crucial to finding the one piece like Shirohoshi is, then maybe he could've been too early aswell due to Momo still traveling through time. He wouldnt be able to command Zunesha or destroy the borders of Wano to obtain Pluton. Maybe he can break it another to get it, idk🤷🏻♂️maybe he did have to wait the 20 years. (Fixed post to say Pluton instead of Uranus) derp
i feel like, assuming Shanks is indeed a celestial dragon, has learned about Imu and the Not-So-Empty-Throne as he was growing up and is one of the very few celestial dragons who has an understanding of ruling and protecting as well as a sense of real justice. the thing is, Shanks also understands that it cant be him alone to bring down the world government. it wouldnt suprise me if, as Luffy becomes King of the Pirates, Shanks gets offered to be the new leader of the world and be like "Nah, i dont give a damn, the empty throne is supposed to be empty", creating an actual ruling world government without a heavenly tribute, ruled by all kings in votings, no Gorosei, no Imu. i think Shanks meant that they will go claim the One Piece, but not for themselves but following Luffy on his path, propably Shanks challenging Luffy as a final test before he lets Luffy go and discover what the One Piece is.
He didnt bet on the future. Roger told him to support whoever shanks give the strawhat. Rayleigh was watching while ace was being excecuted and didnt even help rogers son because he knows ace fate is to die. Garp told ace while crying to become a marine instead of pirate cause he knows ace is going to die if he became a pirate. Garp and roger knows the fate of the world, roger found out when he reached laughtale, he found and saw something that made him and his entire crew laugh. Luffy isnt the successor of joyboy. Luffy is literally joyboy in the future. World reset every 800 years. What Roger and his crew saw in laughtale was rogers strawhat and a record of their journey. He decided to help him so sets his crew like rayleigh and gaban waiting for that person who have rogers hat. Roger probably told wb that person hes waiting for will bring joy to the world as was written in luffy crews journal that roger will read in laughtale, obviously its not blackbeard. I have a feeling that egg in rogers ship has time abilities and will bring the strawhat crew into the past or future 800years.
In some ways I think it's more that Shanks rejected fate rather than the other way around, he had the chance to do it but he didn't want to, those reasons feel tied to whatever Roger said to him when he returned, a truth only he knows that made him want to enjoy his life before committing to the new era. It's worth reminding too that there was the prophecy of the monarchs meeting over a decade away, so even then it would not have been the right moment regardless of whether Shanks or Roger believed them to be 'the one'. But I don't think he saw himself as that one, if he did he wouldn't have stayed with Buggy to see Laugh Tale, and he didn't seem bitter about it when he said he wasn't gonna go for it yet, the man enjoyed himself, he followed his own will of merriment and adventure rather than trying to claim Roger's will. Shanks only became a Yonko after betting on Luffy, and there is a sense of him understanding the status quo, but I feel like Shanks simply wanted to live outside of Roger's shadow (in a non-bitter way) but also knew that whatever will shake the world, be it him or another, he could balance the deck, and perhaps his ties to the Figarland family gave him better insight to keep that balance in check
I wonder if the reason Shanks waited so long to go after the One Piece is because he now sees Luffy is right there ready to take it and Luffy promised him he would become a great pirate like him / surpass him. So this would be a great friendly rivalry / competition and would solidify even more in Shanks mind that Luffy is the one Roger was waiting for if Luffy gets the One Piece somehow (either beats him to Laugh Tale or beats him in a fight).
It sounds perfect to me that shanks would have some pent up resentment about the fact he was not the one according to Roger. He was tasked with finding the true joy boy, and if you combine his duty with how much giving up on his dream of being joy boy mattered, then it only makes sense that he would also chase the one piece and fight luffy for it just to make sure that he is truly ready. Maybe Shanks will have a serious but ultimately friendly bout with luffy for the one piece where Shanks fulfils his mission that Roger assigned and also let go of his resentment because luffy will "do it all"
I think you're spot on. The thing Roger said to Shanks, making him cry, just can't be something as simple as "I'm dying etc." because Oda wouldn't tease us by not including the actual dialogue. Also, some people in the comments think that Roger said something like "You're not the one because of the prophecy but the prophecy says you will help find the one", but imo that's too specific. Him not being the one because the one to do it is supposed to be a D. makes more thematic sense to me, because I believe the initial D. is something anyone can adopt if they want to, and not an inherent trait. It would be bad for the overall story if some poeple were just destined to do such and such. It would clash heavily with the theme of freedom.
Been waiting all week for this. I've been wondering why Shanks isn't PK. In fact it doesn't make sense that he isn't. Him betting on Luffy is the only logical excuse. I think he's only going after the OP now is to thin the heard, and maybe test the SH.
Shanks doesn't want to become Pirate King because he knows its not his destiny. If you look back to the moment Roger told Shanks something after returning to Laugh Tale which brought him to tears, its obviously he wanted to be the one to turn the world upside-down but Roger informs Shanks he is not the one but he does play a key role in the future. He probably didn't know what Roger meant by this until he meets Luffy.
@@hjlnbihe said he think its time to get the one piece. Not that he wanted it. Shanks dialogue were always for the new generation means he knew this generation would get the one piece. Not himself
I'm only 4:16 into video and I still firmly believe gol d rogers words to shanks that made him cry (that we don't know yet) is that shanks is not to be the new joy boy. He was not the one to enherit the gomu gomu no mi. For whatever reason, gol d Roger had the proof of this. And this is why shanks knows he couldn't just eat the fruit. It's even more suspicious that his whole crew is non fruit users. 🤔 But not suspiciously bad.
The one thing, even after all of these years, that I still don't understand, is why Shanks let his arm get gnawed off. Knowing what we know now, knowing partly how powerful he is...I'm sure he could have easily fended that bite off without a scratch even back then. So why didn't he? My only guess is that his observation haki was so advanced even back then, and that if that event didn't play out like it did, it could have or would have changed the desired outcome when it came to Luffys journey. Shanks was able to know the outcome of his battle with Kid before he even arrived and because of that decided to end him quickly to avoid the damage he saw to his fleet with his observation haki. So it could technically be a possibility that he saw what would have happened if he didn't lose his arm that day and wanted to prevent what he saw.
So considering Shanks personality, the interaction with the mountain bandits and Luffy's interaction with Bellamy, I can't see that he doesn't have a dream of his own. What is it then, what want does he want to fulfill on his own?
Shanks waited luffy with gum gum no devil fruit becoz it hasn't awakened since 800 years, becoz now he understands that luffy is the man roger is waiting for & at some point of time when they met both luffy and shanks will go against world govt
I think there is something about the timing of it all too, like Rogers said that he wished he was born at the right time, but he wasn’t. So maybe there is something else to it too, that makes it so Shanks understands he can’t be Joyboy even if he ate the fruit. Not just the D thing.
Amazing breakdown as always man! Btw I think there’s also another very simple explanation to that question and that is the same way Oden was foretelling that JoyBoy will return in 20 years Maybe Roger said something very similar to Shanks without having to really spoil anything about the One Piece except for JoyBoy and the Gomu Gomu no Mi So Shanks basically waited to go for the One Piece for the same reason people in Wano waited desperately for JoyBoy to return.
Shanks and WB are my fave characters but Shanks is just not that guy. The world might end but I can't see Luffy or Garp or Roger actually going over to talk with the Gorosei and leave without punching one/all of them. That's the difference, you need a streak of absolute madness to be the pirate king, the "fuck you I won't do what you tell me to" attitude that Shanks and WB simply didn't have. Also hilarious if Rogers last words were "You're not Him."
i agree with u that i cannot see Shanks as evil. i am a romantic that feels his mentor role will end in him sacrificing for Luffy. maybe D is for Dream which Shanks didnt have personally before, he was trying to fulfill Roger's dream. It was a belief, not his own dream. Even BB had some sort of dream he was going after. Maybe his recent change in heart to seize the One Piece was to protect it. it would be such a powerful statement for Shanks' last words to be "Hey Captain Roger, i too, am a D now"
I think you missed an element of Shanks that has been hinted at but not said for certain. He cares for Imu sama for some reason. He knows about her, she is female, and I'm betting he wants to save her, not beat her, or some such motivation.
I remember many years ago reading a theory where Shanks went to Goa kingdom because he was searching for Roger's son Ace. But he probably met luffy before that and also probably didn't make contact with Ace cause WG may found out about Ace. From what we saw Shanks rather protective about Ace too.
Yeah. We have to keep in mind he was born into this quest his adoptive father took on, while there may have been some curiosity it wasn't his personal dream or anything. To my mind, the questions that upset him so were probably more related to Roger's health. He'd been worried about it for a long time. Maybe he was even hoping that the final island would have some kind of a cure.
While it's possible to believe Shanks' could've been "that person", to be fair, we still don't know exactly why the time frame was so important. Why was a man as powerful as Roger stopped due to being "too early"? Even if Shanks' decided to pursue Roger's dream himself, could he have also been stopped by being "too early" as well? It's possible that the 20-year gap itself might have more significance than we think, which is why Shanks chose to bide his time until then instead
I really think Shanks just want one thing which is a duel or a serious fight with Roger's chosen (someone like luffy who mirriors Roger well) . Shanks grew up looking up to Roger and when Roger died the person is gone and he wants to proof himslef to Roger. and in many stories we see someone who help the hero to reach the top so they can have a 1 Vs 1 at the end of story
Shanks is one of three things 1. He is the main antagonists of the story other than Imu and has essentially been hiding his time and developing his own powers. 2. A man who couldn’t care less about power but only seized power in order to be free from others control and be free (much like Luffy) 3. Afraid of power. He wants to be in charge but feels that he doesn’t deserve it and or is traumatized by the death of Roger and how the title caused him nothing but pain. In any case I feel that the most likely partial end of the story (before Imu and the world gov are dealt with) is Shanks Will battle Luffy in order to test and see if he deserves the tile of King. Shanks is 100% not going to let anyone who could possibly be a tyrant become king, because that would effect his ability to be free from control and live a life of enjoyment and passion.
I think that when Shanks lost his arm, there is more than it meets the eye. I think his arm was some king of literal sacriifice, not for the monster of the sea or for Luffy, but for the devil of the fruit/fruits. For now, the Nika fruit has just benefits, and it's absurdly powerful... But what if he had to do something to wake it up? It would explain why he sacrificed his arm and that there is a dark side on the Nika fruit and that it isn't all good.
So yea I watched this and you couldn't have been more on the mark. Great video and you are too correct. This video is important. More revelations will be revealed as time comes. What a glorious time to be alive.
I wonder if Shanks is like Kaido in a way. Kaido kinda used himself as a wall to find the qualified Joy Boy. I get the feeling Shanks is now joining the race just to be sure that whoever wins is truly qualified. PS: I didn't watch the movie but from what I gather, Uta is confirmed to be a Figarland but Shanks isn't, right? Or is it the other way around?
But what if much like Sabo, Shanks was given the initial out of love and being told by Roger that he was his son regardless of blood. I think that would've made Shanks cry too
It is an interesting concept. Personally, Shanks always struck me as someone who knew what he was capable of, so maybe he could tell that he wouldn't be able to handle the fruit. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Shanks is weak in any respect. What I AM saying is that he could've foreseen that he was incompatible with the destiny of Luffy's fruit, since we know that DFs do have wills of their own.
If i recall. Most eaters of devil fruits will say the fruit tastes nasty after the first bite. Luffy was happily munching down on the fruit as though the fruit enticed him to eat it.
Shanks didn’t fight against Kaido, he stopped him, kaido was so strong he even thinks only Joyboy could defeat him, why kaido was there in the first place? To fight against the only man who could kill him, Kaido was looking for a fight to die, if Kaido saw in Shanks potential to do so why wouldn’t go against Shanks. I don’t thinks Shanks was weaker by a lot to Kaido, I even think he could be by a tiny bit stronger, but you are crazy if you think Shanks won against Kaido no diff to be even in Marineford after that completely fresh.
I believe what Roger found out on Laugh Tale (specifically in regards to Roger and Shanks aka The D’s and The Figarlands).. Is that it wont be Roger’s Generation or Shank’s Generation that will officially Liberate The World of One Piece and bring about One Peace Across All Nations.. Is that it would be the Generation AFTER Shanks. This carries weight when Shanks tells Whitebeard Pre Time Skip that he “Bet His Arm on The Next Generation and New Era”
Very much believe Shanks cried because Roger told him he wasn't a D. As a kid who dreamed of Roger becoming the one to change or hope himself to become the one to change the world. This news would shatter a kid.
i can see a cool scene if shanks was hurt by it. when he eventually test luffy, he initially isnt impressed then gets pissed n be like ”shouldve been me” then fights luffy to kill… that would be cold 🥶
Shanks is a character that was born a celestial dragon but raised as a pirate. His mentality is very interesting because he’s a celestial dragon and could abuse the rights that his status provides him and be very authoritarian just like the majority of his fellow (note that there’re a couple “good & reasonable celestial dragons” Doflamingo’s father and Miosgard) but he doesn’t do so he always chooses to let people decide for themselves and have a free will whatever the consequences of their choice may be and he also only fights for a good reason or whenever someone steps in his way with the desire to stop him just like the few “good & reasonable pirates” in One piece do. Therefore Shanks doesn’t want to lead for the sake of holding a powerful status among his peers, he doesn’t want to have control to be powerful and dominate people and he also never forces his will on anyone even when he feels singularly threatened or when something doesn’t go in his way. Shanks only reacts when there’s is a big deal and when the time has come for him to step up and react because if he doesn’t then the consequences of his passiveness and good ethics might affect his loved ones (cf. the bar scene when the mountain goon decided to spill alcohol on him and he didn’t react because it wasn’t a big deal and no life was at risk VS when Whitebeard throwed the alcohol bottle on him and there he reacted because Whitebeard’s decision could affect Ace who’s the brother of Luffy but also the son of his ex-captain/spiritual father in plus of being a good contender to the pirate king title). So that being said, Shanks is the character that Oda has chosen to represent these 2 opposed ideologies (control and authority VS free will and morals) that are the main plot twists highlighted more than anything else in One piece and its different story lines. Shanks is definitely everything good & reasonable that a One Piece character and specifically a pirate and a celestial dragon has to offer. He has found success where Doflamingo’s father and Roger didn’t which is to live among men while being a celestial dragon and to find Joyboy (Luffy) who’s the gatekeeper of the one piece. Furthermore, Imu and the Gorosei said in a recent chapter that Sabo is not a D but is probably the one who’s the most related to them because of his surrounding and his main influences that are obviously D people, and if we follow this reasoning then Shanks is also indirectly pointed out in that talk although he’s not their biggest threat considering his celestial dragon blood unlike Sabo who deeply hates them and constantly fights them and would certainly never dare cooperating with them not even as a spy or anything of this sort. I think that through Shanks and Sabo we get to know what is the true meaning of the will of D, I even believe that Shanks said it in a flashback when talking to Baggy. “We’ve different views on what a pirate truly is so we should part ways and take our own direction”. Once again One Piece is all about 2 different ideologies constantly clashing that Oda weekly highlights with different storylines and characters whether they be marines, pirates or celestial dragons and their agents. Shanks has a big relation with time just like Luffy who always projects himself and I believe that in almost all of Shanks’ sentences he used an adverb of time mentioning the present and what can happen now which makes him one of the most important character if not the most important because of his story and personality but also his power which literally makes him embody One Piece as a whole. He’s a special “main character” treatment, destiny plays a huge part just like Luffy and this may explain his insane and unexplainable timings during the important events in the world of One Piece even if everything is possible and I’m quite sure that he’s an extraordinary haki that allows him to see pretty far in the future while fighting and he’s a very good vision of his world and a good idea of how people work, he’s very smart and very spontaneous but I don’t think that he’s a mastermind and knows everything that’ll happen in the next 5 years because if it was the case he would’ve anticipated Teach’s attack that caused him the scars over his eye, he would’ve not lost an arm and we certainly would’ve not seen him be that much joyful considering the sad events that have happened with Ace and Luffy, plus it doesn’t make sense for his character because if there’s one thing that Shanks doesn’t want to do it is to control and have authority on everything just like the celestial dragons do. I’m pretty sure that Shanks feels like the devil’s child and Roger was a light for him and his last words when he came back from Laugh tales must be related to that. I bet that Shanks talked about Teach to the Gorosei as he’s become an emperor and may claim a siege at the next Reverie, and since Shanks knows he cannot beat him (he said it himself when he met with Whitebeard to discuss about his case) maybe he expects them to “stop” or weaker him in a way or another because he is One Piece’s biggest threat. Whatever it is in the end Shanks knows what’s coming next because of his adventure with the Roger pirates and he’s all about anticipation and prevention and he certainly doesn’t abuse his status or power because that’s not the man that his role model (Roger) was.
It would be cool if at the end luffy is just like i wanted the world to be free and it was all thanks to you i have to go know shanks but i know you will be a better king of the pirates than i could ever be it was always you im happy that i freed the world we had our own roads to open up this new dawn i have my own road to walk down destiny is just another prison i will not walk down
What makes it too early for roger? Why would he say that they came too early? Too early for what? Is there like a door that only gets open at some specific date? Or is there something cooking that hasnt finished yet? Or or or
Man I love this theory... mainly because it opens the door for Luffy to reignite Shanks' dream in their last battle. (If they have one) Just like Buggy's dream was reawakened by Shanks making his move for One Piece. I will never believe Shanks is evil but I do hope he's the final obstacle!
What Roger told Shanks was that Garling would come for him and make his life hell until he submitted and became a God's Knight. Much like Judge manipulated Sanji with his organization, Garling would manipulate Shanks with his. If Shanks ever made a name for himself Garling would surely come and find him. And if he refused Garling, he would use his organization to murder everyone Shanks cares about. The most painful thing for Shanks would be knowing that his success would endager everyone he cared about. So he told Buggy he was putting off the search for the One Piece. But there was one saving grace. God's Knights are only activated if Marie Jois itself is attacked. When Garling came for him, he told Shanks that he could continue his life as a pirate as long as he vowed to protect Marie Jois when the time came. Celstials can do as they like, afterall. He could even have his bounty wiped. Shanks accepted the offer to keep his friends safe, but under the condition that he got to keep his bounty. Garling laughed at this and handed him a white den den mushi. Years later the events of Marineford unfold. He sees that Buggy is in way over his head, and about to get himself killed. So he meets with the Gorosei, petitioning to have Buggy made a Warlord of the sea. Using his authority for good. When Dragon's revolutionaries attack Marie Jois, Shanks finally gets that call. "Report to Marie Jois". In the same chapter where the newspaper announcing the events of the Reverie is shown, Shanks decides to go after the One Piece. Earlier in the chapter he is seen holding that very same newspaper while looking at Luffy's wanted poster. Shanks intends to collect the poneglyphs, betray Garling by joining Dragon's revolution, overthrow the Celestials, and finally return to pursuing his dream as a free man.
What if Roger did tell Shanks to search for the next “joy boy” or pirate king so with years of growing, he also did his research about joyboy. Maybe roger left a journal behind? Shanks could have possible found it and learned all about laugh tale. (Which is maybe why he’s in no rush to find it.) he could have been searching for the fruit, for his first step to find the closest candidate for pirate king (knowingly the fruit is a big part to become it) maybe that’s why roger said he was to early? The fruit hasn’t been found yet and it’s needed for the coming of joy boy?
Shanks is Tyr, one of aesir gods in norse mythology (one of celestials in one piece) who sacrifices his arm to the wolf fenrir in order to bind fenrir(he sacrifices his arm for luffy) and being the boss of elbaf confirms he has connection to norse mythology. Tyr dies in Ragnarok and i think shanks will as well in the End war of One piece
Great video JB, I really enjoyed it. Personally I've never been a fan of the prophecy storytelling thing, it hurts when one person or group is/are the only one who can save the world. I'm glad I watched Evangelion and I just assume any prophecy from an advanced civilization in the past is actually a really well informed guess. Hopefully isn't actually a true prophecy like shark girl.
I just feel like Shanks “Bet” his arm by shutting his haki off completely in front of the sea beast. When Luffy as well as the spirit that dwells in the gum gum fruit thought they’d die he showed hints of gear 5 subconsciously.
11:50 - Also, reading the panels where Imu asked Cobra about how Lili signed the letter, and then having it revealed that she signed it with a "D.", to me it seemed like Lili was not a D by birth right or whatever, instead she chose to be a D hence forth, by signing her name that way. At least that was the way I understood it, which goes along with the "Sa D. Bo" exchange, and that people can be a D if they so choose.
Yeah I see two possibilities here. Either Lili had a crisis of conscience and turncoated at the end of the war, or she and the Nefertari family were always on that side and kept it secret. The fact that we're not sure which is probably the only reason Imu said to bring Vivi in alive.
it would be cool if shanks already knew where the one piece is and just went to gatekeep the OP and be a final stand against bb or WG or testing luffy to see if hes worthy. but I think he took kidds rubbing implying he needed to collect them still.
You made me think of something with that shanks may have known that joyboy was going to be the one with the nika nika fruit... it is also been noted before that shanks been visiting islands meeting multiple children.. so what if he just went around with the nika fruit just in the open waiting on joyboy to eat it.. he may have been vigilant on people stealing it but was waiting on an innocent D by coincidence just eating it.. cause he also knows the fruit chooses the user.. 👀
Joyboy just like sakazuki, could find one piece in a year If he was the main protagonist, Shanks would find it easily if he was main protagonist as well, right
Shanks did not go to kingdom of Goa to evaluate Luffy. I think shanks went to give the devil fruit to Ace. As per Roger's wish, Ace would have been the next joy boy. But by mistake, Luffy ate that devil fruit and than luffy word's also reminded him of Roger. so Shank would have come to conclusion that Luffy will be next big thing.
Maybe Shanks was just keeping the devil fruit away from Imu and Luffy just ate it on accident so that made him become fated to deal with Imu and Luffy being who he is genuinely just compliments the fruit well.
I never understood the whole contraversy with shanks arm, Like I get the dude is strong af but the lord of the sea basically had his jaws around fluffy and shanks was in town. I could totally see him getting there just barely in time and there being no other option than to give up an arm. Only part I don't like is like a year later Luffy smacking the fuck out the lord of the sea when he leaves windmill island, but I feel like that can be written off as Shanks valuing Luffy's life above his own.
What if Shanks knew that Ace was on that island so his plan was to give him the gum gum fruit? Wanting to make Ace fullfil what Roger couldn't do. Then Luffy ate it, ruining Shanks plan haha. So that made shanks change his attention towards Luffy since he is also a D.
this has been my theory since 1046 or whatever when the gear 5 reveal chapter was it makes more sense that Roger told shanks that his Son was the one! Luffy just ate it but by accident.
I can imagine there being other Ds among the Tenryuubito. Blackbeard shows us a malicious D and Garp shows us a duty bound one. Also, Figarlan D Garling sounds kind of correct if you say it out loud. So Figarlan D Shanks could be real.
@@NKMitch42 She infiltrated the world government to distribute the poneglyphs all over the world, that is why Imo is saying Lili committed a sin. She is a D, not a Tenryuubito.
@@ctdesing that's nothing but speculation at this point. We don't know what happened. Just that something Lili did let the poneglyphs out and that she was a D. We know nothing else about that.
Oda missed a big opportunity to explain Shank lost of arm. Imagine if he had a devil fruit and he had the will power to swim despite it but not being able to fight in water. That would had explained it and made him more badass.
Or Shanks is doing things based on fate, even though he’s not chosen. He serves as the guide. When the student is ready the master appears. ie Yoda and Luke. And even Po and oogway from Kung Fu Panda. To what extent the end is set up, Shanks might sacrifice himself for Luffy.
I reckon roger never found the one piece but instead had arrived at it and could never obtain it. So near but yet so far kind of deal. I reckon to access it requires joy boys power of imagination which can likely also counter the negative effects of the sea/sea prism stone whilst in the form Rather than being able to circumvent it like aokiji turning it to ice for instance… or brook running quickly over the top of it etc. The D in peoples names likely means they’ve just got the potential to have the will necessary to unlock the model nika and use it appropriately - it doesn’t necessarily mean they are more powerful they are just a key that has a chance of fitting the lock Edit - I wrote and posted this just before the end and I love the idea of the D not mattering. Almost as if it’s just a way of rejecting the establishment in the same way the straw hats rose their fist for ViVi
I still think that shanks was in goa kingdom intending to give ace the fruit. Roger probly told him ace would be joy boy. So when shanks tells whitebeard he made a bet. It's not just about his arm but that roger was wrong and ace wasn't joyboy. He believed in luffy.
Maybe he also knew it wasnt time to go get the one piece, like Roger said he was 20 years to early. maybe now those 20 years past and that's why only now Shanks wants to go get it.
If this is true shanks has something the world today seems to have lost, instead of arrogant, rude, greed, ambition, an selfishness, he chose the harder and greater path. He is humble, respectful, sacrificing, disciplined/self-controlled, and selfless. The qualities of a hero/savior especially of a story/epic is the ability to give up your dream for the lives/dreams of others/greater good, not to place your wants an desires over others, black beard/imu and to a certain extent Luffy.
I agree that Shanks isnt evil but I do believe he has a twin or clone that's a god knight. in 907 when "Shanks" met with the Gorosei, he was wearing a cloak and we couldn't see his eye scar or arm. Its weird too because the last couple chapters was a follow up from 907. It was Reverie so it was also the Chapter where Mjosgard hit Charlos. So lets say it was Shanks. That would mean that he was there right before Sabo fought Imu and the Gorosei. Or he still could be lurking around somewhere 🤯 This is why I think there's a Shanks twin/clone and if its true, he gonna appear soon to take care of Sai and Leo. maybe

‘What stopped Shanks?’
He promised Buggy and Luffy he’d wait for them.
damn right
Basically, he's overthinking it, and that causes doubt.
This aged like fine wine huh?
@@browlyparis3991 eitther way luffy would be oblige to giv away the hat affer completing the promise he made to him.
True, shanks has always been luffy's role model.. He served as the final wall for luffy to climb over..
Recent events such as what?
@@iiD_ Buggy/Shanks interaction
@@JoyBoyTheories can you go more in depth?
@@iiD_ Buggy thought Shanks adventure would continue after Roger. Buggy seemed to think Shanks wanted to find the One Piece, and was pretty betrayed when Shanks decided "nah" last minute. It could indicate that Shanks wanted to be king, but something changed around Roger's death, as opposed to he simply never desired it.
And Oda could potentially use this as fuel for a Shanks/Luffy duel, if such a thing ever happens. "You are what I always wanted to be, lets see"
@@JoyBoyTheories oh I already understood that. when he said recent I thought he meant like this year.. lol
Perfect time for some joy boy
I actually have a theory about the Gomu Gomu no Mi and Joynoy's Will:
It's that JoyBoy and Nika are synonyms of each other (and also the same person) and that the Gomu Gomu no Mi is nothing more than the container of JoyBoy's Will.
Similar to all Zoan Fruits having their own will, only much more stronger
I also think that Roger knew from the Poneglyphs about exactly that and thought that his son would be that perfect match to Joyboy's Will.
But then Shanks thought back what Oden had read to Roger from on of the Poneglyphs: "The one to eat the Container with Joyboy's Will, shall be the perfect match for Joyboy's Will and will be Person to fulfill the Plan and Goal that he, Joyboy, could not."
So Shanks excepted that Joyboy's Will found the perfect match in Luffy's Will to merge with. From this on he took up the mantle of guiding the reemargence of Joyboy so that Roger's plan, for which he was to early would come true.
So what do you think?
If you want to, you can turn it into a theory video.
This is a dope theory! 💪💪
yes I have had literally the exact same theory about ace and shanks since gear 5 was revealed. Make so much more sense then shanks not having the D
@@SomeFactsYouMightNotKnow thanks.
It formed in my head shortly after the Gorosei spoke about Liffy's Devil Fruit.
Yeah, as pinkodiamond said, a lot of people have had this theory for a long time, including myself
I cannot remember seeing gold roger swim around just like Oda showcased with Rayleigh (calm belt/ Amazon lily)
I think Oda anyways added the Nika idea too late to the spry bringing many inconsistencies to it as a whole.
Luffy is a by product of chance and destiny meeting together
Roger probably hedged his bets, if his son wasn't the sun god then it likely be someone else
Shanks is there to guide the sun god
Wooooow!!! I've been thinking about almost the same thing for months!!!! I'm so happy to see you see Shanks as I see him.
Maybe he can break it another to get it, idk🤷🏻♂️maybe he did have to wait the 20 years. i feel like, assuming Shanks is indeed a celestial dragon, has learned about Imu and the Not-So-Empty-Throne as he was growing up and is one of the very few celestial dragons who has an understanding of ruling and protecting as well as a sense of real justice. the thing is, Shanks also understands that it cant be him alone to bring down the world government. it wouldnt suprise me if, as Luffy becomes King of the Pirates, Shanks gets offered to be the new leader of the world and be like "Nah, i dont give a damn, the empty throne is supposed to be empty", creating an actual ruling world government without a heavenly tribute, ruled by all kings in votings, no Gorosei, no Imu. i think Shanks meant that they will go claim the One Piece, but not for themselves but following Luffy on his path, propably Shanks challenging Luffy as a final test before he lets Luffy go and discover what the One Piece is.
This feels so perfect in retrospect.
I love your take JB! I think you're spot on.
Really good vídeo, awesome footage to follow allong, and you brought so many points that wont leave my Head til chapa 1087, good work Man
finally a new video!
Honestly I don’t care about the editing as I listen to your videos before going to sleep.
Maybe Shanks will have a serious but ultimately friendly bout with luffy for the one piece where Shanks fulfils his mission that Roger assigned and also let go of his resentment because luffy will "do it all"
Such an interesting take JB!
He probably didn't know what Roger meant by this until he meets Luffy.
he want the one piece lmao
@@hjlnbi Does he? Or is he only doing this to encourage Luffy to catch up with him and the other competition.

It was simply an early mistake by Oda, one which he regrets. Some editor persuaded Oda to have Shanks lose an arm for dramatic effect.
Shanks: "I saw into the distant future the moment I came to save you, Luffy. I saw the path to freedom'
just a mistake,he didnt indent to make the character extremely poweful at the beginning
Considering the return of JB was prophesied - yeah, couldn’t be Shanks. He was already born.
The timing was wrong as Poseidon(shirahoshi) wasn’t born yet.
Amazing breakdown as always man!
Btw I think there’s also another very simple explanation to that question and that is the same way Oden was foretelling that JoyBoy will return in 20 years
Maybe Roger said something very similar to Shanks without having to really spoil anything about the One Piece except for JoyBoy and the Gomu Gomu no Mi
So Shanks basically waited to go for the One Piece for the same reason people in Wano waited desperately for JoyBoy to return.
I imagine Roger leaning over into Shanks' ear and quietly whispering....."You're not that guy pal."
WOW ! great video on shank and partly buggy
i agree with u that i cannot see Shanks as evil. i am a romantic that feels his mentor role will end in him sacrificing for Luffy. maybe D is for Dream which Shanks didnt have personally before, he was trying to fulfill Roger's dream.
I think he just wants to help luffy achieve it, since the one piece isn’t for one person anyway it’s to unite the world
I really love this video I very much agree with the ending portion
Nice vidéo.
Btw, are going to do a Nerona video 👀
BECAUSE NEITHER BELIEVED IN THEMSELVES. so good point. Great video.
Shanks is one of three things
1. He is the main antagonists of the story other than Imu and has essentially been hiding his time and developing his own powers.
2. A man who couldn’t care less about power but only seized power in order to be free from others control and be free (much like Luffy)
Bro goosebumps. Changed my thought about shanks
I think that would've made Shanks cry too
its going to be one hell of a reunion
It is an interesting concept. Personally, Shanks always struck me as someone who knew what he was capable of, so maybe he could tell that he wouldn't be able to handle the fruit. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Shanks is weak in any respect. What I AM saying is that he could've foreseen that he was incompatible with the destiny of Luffy's fruit, since we know that DFs do have wills of their own.
I appreciate your reviews. I always gain so many insights from you.
I must ask, when you modify your voice i.e. 6:27 is it intentional?
I just happened to find this on crome while setting something up and kinda just watched it
If i recall. Most eaters of devil fruits will say the fruit tastes nasty after the first bite. Luffy was happily munching down on the fruit as though the fruit enticed him to eat it.
Shanks has a big potential to become greatest villain in shonen history. The plot twist will be insane, imagine
I think Shanks wants to protect Luffy from Blackbeard and the God Knights
It would be dissappointing and
Shanks didn’t fight against Kaido, he stopped him, kaido was so strong he even thinks only Joyboy could defeat him, why kaido was there in the first place? To fight against the only man who could kill him, Kaido was looking for a fight to die, if Kaido saw in Shanks potential to do so why wouldn’t go against Shanks. I don’t thinks Shanks was weaker by a lot to Kaido, I even think he could be by a tiny bit stronger, but you are crazy if you think Shanks won against Kaido no diff to be even in Marineford after that completely fresh.
ngl the part where you said "he saw the throne but decided not to sit on it." was pretty sick.
the same goes for Whitebeard too.
Shanks “ It’s not Figarland… It’s Figarlan D. Shanks!”
You better get this Sub. Also Shanks isn’t evil. He’s a pirate 🏴☠️ who does whatever he wants. And does what it take to get that
i can see a cool scene if shanks was hurt by it. when he eventually test luffy, he initially isnt impressed then gets pissed n be like ”shouldve been me” then fights luffy to kill… that would be cold 🥶
This is actually really cool
Roger not believing that Shanks would be the person would be so interesting when you think about how much Shanks believes in Luffy.
Put some respect on Kaido. “In a 1 v 1, bet on Kai D. O

Lmao Roger literally told Shanks "You're not him" 😂
What if Shanks knew that Ace was on that island so his plan was to give him the gum gum fruit? Wanting to make Ace fullfil what Roger couldn't do. Then Luffy ate it, ruining Shanks plan haha. So that made shanks change his attention towards Luffy since he is also a D.
this has been my theory since 1046 or whatever when the gear 5 reveal chapter was
it makes more sense that Roger told shanks that his Son was the one!

You should have paralleled Shanks' conversation with the child in Elfbat to Luffy's interactions with Shanks as a child
The D in peoples names likely means they’ve just got the potential to have the will necessary to unlock the model nika and use it appropriately - it doesn’t necessarily mean they are more powerful they are just a key that has a chance of fitting the lock
Edit - I wrote and posted this just before the end and I love the idea of the D not mattering.
I been watching one piece for so long and I just realized shanks is almost ace half brother since Roger took care of him
You cooked up sum real good
If this is true shanks has something the world today seems to have lost, instead of arrogant, rude, greed, ambition, an selfishness, he chose the harder and greater path.
Or he still could be lurking around somewhere 🤯 This is why I think there's a Shanks twin/clone and if its true, he gonna appear soon to take care of Sai and Leo. maybe
