Deep Purple In Rock, of course. I like a lot of the more recent albums. The other albums I consider strong are Fireball, Machine Head, Perfect Strangers and Perpendicular. I don't care much for the Coverdale era as he brought more of an R&B style to the band. Hence, RB's Rainbow was formed.
My favourite is usually "Burn" and least favorite is "Abandon". I do like "Come taste the band" because it has great songs, production is good, nice groove but absolutly "hate" Bolin slide guitar... it just tears my brain apart (in a bad way!)
Great rankings! My favorite Deep Purple album is In Rock, because I just LOVE "Child in Time". That song is epic. I don't own anything by other lineups beside the Mark II lineup, but I am interested in checking out Burn. I think I stayed away from Burn because I absolutely despise Whitesnake, so I wanted no part of anything with Coverdale. I'm willing to revisit that album now on Spotify and purchase it if I like it.
Thanks Laura! Child In Time is an all timer for me. I’d definitely recommend Burn… I think it offers some similarities to early Whitesnake in a sense that it’s funkier and blusier, but combined with the talents of Blackmore, Lord, and Hughes it has its own charm.
My top 5 are: 05) Fireball 04) Burn 03) Perfect Strangers 02) In Rock 01) Machine Head Honorable Mention: Slaves and Masters (not a bad Rainbow album) I agree with you on King Of Dreams. It's a Stone Cold Classic and I feel like it completes Joe's dream trilogy. Street Of Dreams (Rainbow), Dreaming (Yngwie J. Mamlsteen), and King Of Dreams (Deep Purple). Joe told a story in a recent interview about how visions of a woman's face from a dream he had, inspired him to write Street Of Dreams. I think the other two are about the same woman. He said he saw her in the crowd at one of his shows in 2007 almost 24 years later and married her. She's his wife to this day!
Great top 5! Slaves and Masters would be much better received as a Rainbow album. Contrary to this ranking, I do like Joe Lynn Turner… I think his new album Belly of the Beast is great! 🔥

Come Taste the Band at 21??😱 I’ll admit it takes a few listen to get into this cause it doesn’t feel the same without Blackmore. I’ve personally come to appreciate it for what it is. It really is an extension of the Stormbringer album just without Ritchie. Tommy Bolin is no Blackmore just for me he hold his own. Songs like Drifter, Deale, Lovechild would be classics if not for this incarnation of Purple couldnt last due to Tommy Bolin and Glenn Hughes drugs. You keep on moving is my personal favorite from the album
@@TheCDGuyJZ I respectfully disagree with that assessment. I think everyone is in full form, (at least on the album). It’s a lot more soulful and funky compared to earlier releases. They don’t argue about tastes, especially since everything is extremely honest and sincerely said. I'm just giving my opinion too. I don't actually rank albums by number, but there are preferences. Absolutely agree with the first number - this is a great album. And here is the second most overrated album from this group for me. Burn was an attempt after the experimental WDWTWA to repeat the success of the previous album and release the second Machine Head, but you can’t step into the same river twice and although the album is decorated with a great title track and great riffs or melodies sound in places, but in fact the other 6 songs are nothing remarkable, and A 200 is a filler, made up of old Mark 1 instrumental pieces, for me Stormbringer sounds more sluggish, but a more honest album, and not an attempt to sound like a more successful predecessor. I also don't like the double vocals on the hard rock album, besides the fact that the new singers bring in too much funk and soul, the vocal harmonies make it all sound too poppy. If I had a rating, Burn would not have entered the top ten. What can I say, is it noticeable that Hughes and Coverdale are not my favorite singers?
Come taste the band .. is one of the best rock albums of the late 70’s .. by anyone. The drumming alone is fantastic. Agree re Bananas .. after Purpindicular it’s my favourite Steve era Purple album. In Rock is def’ their best studio album. Ironically Shades of DP sounds more like In Rock than any other in their catalogue .. probably because they had to record it in two days .. basically playing live. Who do we think we are .. an album I find myself playing more and more. It just sounds great .. so full and fat .. all the instruments stand out in the mix . Ian’s singing is fantastic .
@@TheCDGuyJZ I enjoy Tommy Bolin’s playing. He has great feel, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy his records because he’s too conventional and a straight ahead player. Would be In Rock if most of the album wasn't about Ian Gillan's hard lovin' [ Why would that interest me ] apart from Child In Time only Blackmore's playing exites me. Not a fan of Gillan Therefore 1. Machine Head [ A perfect classy album in every way ] 2. Burn [Ritchie burns] 3. In Rock [ Great music, playing and singing but Dumb cheezy lyrics spoil it for me ] 4. Perfect Strangers 5. Fireball [ Title track Needed a great lead break from Ritchie but nothing ] 6. Stormbringer [needed heavy long guitar rockers] 7. Who Do We Think We Are [ Gillan's writing is mostly garbage and Blackmore is not allowed much space no long solos in Woman From Tokyo or Rat Bat Blue , Mary Long , Our Lady and Smooth Dancer 3 of the worst songs in Rock history ]
It’s better to create something that others criticize than to create nothing and criticize others… idiot… and you edited your comment and still spelled “too” incorrectly btw.
CTTB in last place? NFW! It’s a good album - better than many of their others. And Now What is great. Also - the self titled album is far superior then their first 2 albums - in my opinion.

Everyone's ranking is different... I never took to CTTB, just my opinion.
@@TheCDGuyJZ That's cool bro. I forgive you. You're allowed back in the Deep Purple fan club.
Happy to be back!
@@TheCDGuyJZHahaha. Outside of CTTB this was a really good list. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! 🙏🤘
"Come Taste the Band" is a great album !
I never liked it, but I'm glad you enjoy it!
Would be In Rock if most of the album wasn't about Ian Gillan's hard lovin' [ Why would that interest me ] apart from Child In Time only Blackmore's playing exites me. Not a fan of Gillan
Therefore
1. Machine Head [ A perfect classy album in every way ]
2. Burn [Ritchie burns]
3. In Rock [ Great music, playing and singing but Dumb cheezy lyrics spoil it for me ]
4. Perfect Strangers
5. Fireball [ Title track Needed a great lead break from Ritchie but nothing ]
6. Stormbringer [needed heavy long guitar rockers]
Great ranking! I can’t believe Ritchie agreed to record Smooth Dancer and had no idea it was a diss track on him lol
CTTB last!? I'm out.
Just my opinion. Everyone’s ranking will differ.
True.
Mach. The word is mach, pronounced (mahk), NOT mark. It's Mach 1, Mach 2, and Mach 3, NOT Mark 1, 2, and 3.
I’ve heard it pronounced both ways. Neither is wrong.
@@TheCDGuyJZ My bad. Carry on!
@@theraj662 Actually, it is prounounced 'mark' and not 'mahk'.
@@LarryFleetwood8675 Ahhh, the debate goes on lol
@@theraj662: "Mach" is the German word for "mark".
You talk to fast !!! And your way to young to understand Deep Purple
It’s better to create something that others criticize than to create nothing and criticize others… idiot… and you edited your comment and still spelled “too” incorrectly btw.
HAHAHAHA Jeff Mazzei just got his ass kicked by Johnny Z.
@@TheCDGuyJZ: Well-said. He says you're "to (sic) young", yet he's the one being immature. Music and age are unconnected.
CTTB in last place? NFW! It’s a good album - better than many of their others. And Now What is great. Also - the self titled album is far superior then their first 2 albums - in my opinion.
Just my opinion. I could never get into Come Taste The Band.
in rock#1, fireball#2, perfect strangers#3...🤟🫶I don't like the coverdale period, only his solo work
Great top 3! Mark 2 is definitely the best! Mark 3 is very different.
