This is the ending I chose too (but I think I kept lights on for the Iris cult). I think Knower would be extremely useful to have in a better world and she has the potential to thrive and to do a lot of good, so I decided to keep her around. I also liked her a lot as a character. Blue's ending has different epitaphs and I think it's worth checking them out too but I personally prefer this ending. It's really easy to see all the different endings with chapter select, if you wanna check them out (most of them are bleak af). I have to say you may be the first person I've watched play this game that didn't get hopelessly lost all the time navigating the Orchard haha. Great let's play! I enjoyed your commentary.
I ended up looking up what the other endings are, as I was satisfied with how the story ended and didn't personally feel the need to continue. Maybe one day I'll replay the game and be more thorough then, but for now I am content. I definitely agree that the other endings seemed rather bleak, save the Blue ending, but I must admit that I will always be drawn to optimism so long as it doesn't feel unearned, so I do think I prefer this one. Thank you for watching; I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Hekki Grace! What a fun journey, thanks for this lets play! I also got this ending on my playthrough. 3:39:11 - to add salt to injury , there is Knower on the top left watching BB and Healer through a window on a balcony :( 3:41:37 - this pillar had the epitaph for Iris, it said "Here lies a child who was made into a monster and a mother. You were the hardest to forgive. I still dream of you. Hekki grace." There are quite a few small things you pick up when you watch someone else play it, all the references to future events, foreshadowings, parallels, etc. I really appreciate this multi-layered narrative that allows you to pick up something new from it each time. A small narrative tidbit that I really like and that is super hidden in this game is that at least a few scenes imply that Iris didnt kill the original sisters in chapter 3 - 2:32:31 we see here that they took Iris's side at the birthday incident (probably the most objective look at this scene because its from the side of the occupants), also in chapter 7 during Watcher's camera recording speech we see a scene of Iris standing at the train platform alongside all the other original sisters alive and well, planning to leave Youngest alone at the orchard, at 2:44:25 youngest asking why they all took Iris's side. And it would make much more sense , because throughout the game it was mentioned several times that Iris was supposedly protective of her sisters. Seems like Principal reconstructed her memory of this event to cope (2:07:07) or what was shown in chapter 3 was just maliciuous manipulation of the communion to fuel Watcher's anger towards the allmother, which was part of principal's plan.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed your time! Thanks for pointing out the little things I missed at the end there; there was a lot happening emotionally, so I'm grateful for the information. In particular, thank you for that last little theory - you're right, it makes a lot of sense! I'll probably have to play the game through again, or watch some other playthrough with that in mind sometime to really see where I land, but that's a really interesting and compelling idea! Poor Youngest - one of the most wronged, who in turn wronged others among the most. Such a fascinating foil to Watcher.
