Sampo is intriguing rogue. We met Sampo in Jarillo VI but he knows about other planets so is not native there. He’s probably a follower of Aha, aeon of Elation. One of the Masked Fools. A loose group of people who go around the known universe basically doing what ever they want if it’s interesting and fun. At least for them. Not “good” or “bad”, just other, harbingers of chaos. They share their adventures to each others for entertainment so Sampo 4th wall brake was prob for them. Streaming his shenanigans 😂
The last scene you showed made me even more curious about him but ngl, the fucking gay panics Ive had for this man have been otherwordly to me. I never thirsted over a character that much???? I couldnt recognize myself for a couple weeks until I got used to have him on my team. Excited for what the future will bring for him (I hope is Jail)

haven't played any hoyo games but as a finnish person i find sampo's name so funny cos even though i'm aware of the etymology sampo koski is a completely normal name you could see on a middle aged finnish guy lol
My theory is that Sampo is a follower of Aha the Elation, especially with that last bit of dialogue in the main quest from him. He asked if we liked the PERFORMANCE he put on for us, and whether or not he made us smile. Seems closest to Aha in agenda, as Aha does things for the sake of enjoyment and, as Aha themselves would probably put it, Elation.
Sampo is my favorite character mostly because I’m mentally ill. but I hate that I can find exactly one angst fanfiction of him. Because I’m mentally ill. If I have to deal with it the characters I relate to have to deal with it now get in the goddamn box sampo we’re going to depressiontown
He is a part of the masked fools ( is part of aha the elation ), which makes appearences in the simulated universe occurance events and you meet another one of sampos buddies (?) in the xianzhou side quest, names zhongshan. both refer to the tavern at the end of their quest lines.
Sampo’s easily one of my favorite characters in the game, both personality-wise and in terms of gameplay. And this video pretty much sums up every reason why. Great stuff!

I'm convinced that Sardine Catwalk is a player character who's already seen the ending and is now screwing with other NPCs from his perspective. After all, he's the only one other than the Trailblazer who's been shown breaking the fourth wall. This may be a theory I came up with while writing this comment, but I believe it with my whole heart.
Another theory is that he's one of the Masked Fools (People who worship the Elation Aeon). They are known to share their adventures with each others so it could be that he's not talking to us, he's actually talking to the rest of the Masked fools who watch his adventures.
