Wow, as a brazilian, never expected to see you playing Tagimas. My first bass ever was a made in Brazil Tagima and still playing decent almost 20 years later. Those are sold pretty cheap and found everywhere here in Brazil for about a third of a Squier price (Squiers get pretty darn expensive 'round here) and people will mod them to death. SX and Tagima are the most common bases for mods right here. I'm curious to see the review, as most of their youtube reviews were paid.
The screwer of screws.....it was right there. I’ve seen these basses, and being dyslexic I don’t spend much time reading, but I never realized that was the pronunciation of that company. Thank you for sharing and teaching me a new word. Cheers lobster.
Thanks John and Marcus! IMO cheap instruments like that can often get a bad wrap due to poor storage conditions. The Gibson LP Jr. Tribute was notorious for this as they were all stored in a super dry warehouse and many had some bad fret poke out of the box due to some board shrink. This can often lead to two people getting the same instrument and having completely different experiences. I'll be checking out both eventually though :).
I have a tw66, i love it. Was my second bass, and the first one was a headache (an active stingray copy from Parquer, awful instrument, ate a battery per week). When i purchased my Fender, i modded it with Gotoh tuners, Wilkinson brass saddles bridge and i first installed a Seymour Duncan quarter pounder but didn't like it, so i sold that and bought a locally made pickup to the Fender custom shop 62 spec, and put a set of Jameson original 54 Labella flats (A friend brought them from the US because local music stores do not have them). Took the paint out too, finished it in teak oil. I am surprised with the problems that you had with the tw65, i've tried and setup a lot of this ones and never had a problem. Here we don't have Harley Benton, or Glarry, or the budget lines that are known to be good, and Squiers have become costly, so Tagima and SX are great options for beginners; a new Tagima costs almost half what a Squier affinity does. (Argentina)
Thanks Julian! I'm hoping that it's a simple setup issue, haven't had time to have a go at the setup yet but I'll be sure to update you all on the full review :)

I was hoping someone would make a great quality review of these basses! Do you think you could review the Vintage brand next? Specifically the VJ72 and the V4M?
Thanks Mario! Yes, I've been looking at the Vintage brand a bit! I have a friend who is a vendor, so we can definitely make this happen (probably in January). I'm intrigued by the all Wilkinson hardware those things have as I do like Wilkinson stuff!
Tagima made its name here in Brazil with its original, Made in Brazil models. They're really cheap and have decent quality. These new export lines made in China aren't that good, there's a lot of improvement needed there. Speaking of China-made Tagimas, they even released a StingRay Music Man clone with active circuitry, the 4 or 5-string Tagima TBM. Worth a look, but I'm not sure if it's worth the price LOL. I have a 5-string TBM and I can say they do their job as entry points to the world of Music Man tones, but certainly will never replace a StingRay. Cheers.
Dunno about you, but I really like that minty color from the pickguard, makes it look different and the first bass sounded really nice, I'm a sucker for P-Js haha.
Thanks German! Short answer- YES! I've been eyeing some for a while, will check some out soon. I used to have a Y-Man jazz bass from South Korea that I really enjoyed, definitely looking to check out other lesser known brands (around here) from SK! Great suggestion :)
I was just looking at these basses as well on reverb and RUclips. The demos on RUclips withe the tw 65 and 73 all seem to have a significant amount of fret buzz. They sound good but the buzz is annoying.
@@LowEndLobster The fit and finish look pretty good as well. I'm really hoping that a good setup will take away much of the buzz on these tagimas. Can't wait to see what you are able to do with them LEL.
Howdy LEL! ? are they buzzing because of bad setup or because of uneven frets? If its the former rather than the latter no big deal. They look great. How's fit and finish? Alder or Basswood? Light/heavy?
Well, that 66 looks nice anyways. 😊 As far as cheap basses go, and I've had quite a few, I would go with a Harley Benton. I only have one HB, the Ash bodied Jazz with the 70's pickup spacing. I bought it to be my poor man's Marcus Miller bass, and I'll be damned if it's not one of my favorite basses. It even had a surprise Flame Maple neck. It's not a huge sample size to judge the brand by, but it's quite a bit nicer than any Glarry's, SX's or even Squires that I've owned. I'd put it up there with my MIM Fender, if it wasn't as heavy as a medium sized celestial body.
Those basses don't sound bad! Bummer about the fret buzz and out of the box setup. Given the comments of other users below, these basses do not seem well regarded. Maybe we can get a shoot out of made in China basses in a future video 😁
I'm right there with you. The Glarrys I've played were much less fret buzzy, though an obvious step down in finish quality. However, for an instrument that's meant to be played and not looked at - Glarry all day!
Probably made in the Glarry factory with a $120 up-charge for the name. I don’t see these being worth the premium for the level of instrument they are.
