  • This is a 5-minute lesson on the electrical distribution system of the Airbus A320 describing the sources of AC power (main generators, external power and emergency generators) and sources of DC power. The video also shows how the static inverter can be used to transform DC battery power into AC and how the 3 transformer-rectifier units (TRUs) convert the AC into DC to supply the two main DC busbars.
The CBT software used is part a package of interactive electrical systems that can all be used in the classroom to easily deliver lessons like the one in the video. The package contains electrical systems of varying levels of complexity, beginning first with simple split-bus and parallel systems before advancing to a typical DC system, a typical AC system and finally an example system from a popular commercial airliner, the Airbus A320.
Each electrical system can be built-up as a series of easy to understand steps, allowing the instructor to clearly explain the functions of each component as they are introduced. To aid the students’ understanding, components such as busbars, switches, relays, generators, circuit breakers, inverters and TRUs are all interactive (and can be operated by clicking with the mouse).
