- What's happening on Lake Toho in Kissimmee, Florida in May 2024? Topwater! Bass fishing with topwater lures is one my favorite patterns this time of year. On Lake Toho, and the rest of the Kissimmee Chain, the topwater bite is usually best during the early morning and late evening. However, this time of year and under the right conditions, it can sometimes work throughout the day. Our bait of choice on this day was a Dual Pitch 94 top water walking bait that used to be made by 13 Fishing. I like to use my CPF Lures NINEX No Fade braid in 30 lb test when fishing topwater. I can make long casts and the braid is completely buoyant.
We had a few mishaps on this trip... Lost a couple big fish and my buddy, Rick, lost his brand new $130 bluegill glide bait. Ouch!

I was gonna try and fish there this weekend for my first time if the weather doesn’t ruin it. What would you recommend me doing? I don’t have any electronics on my boat which kinda sucks but I planned on fishing deeper clean hydrilla and flipping some. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Does lake Toho have channel markers?
It does, but they’re actually just navigational markers. There’s no real channel on the lake. There’s grass/weeds everywhere, but you can really just run wherever you want.
