Special shout out to swords brother Godswyl. He is absolutely amazing for managing to claim objectives and kill enemies at the same time. Ive lost count of the number of games I've won with his active causing a sudden 2 point swing

4:35 The last point in the Piloting Decisions implies Sybill's active hits multiple targets. It can hit the same target multiple times. She can hit two targets just with Smite.
Yes, I find this useful. I really enjoy both showing the combo, as well as the ways to work around the combo. A new video when a new team/meta is developed would be great.

This is great. Loved the collaboration. That legendary team looks like a royal pain to deal with. I'd like to see more team break downs. I'm a full overwatch main myself and really enjoy it, but I can also see a variety of weaknesses (Celestene, Noble, Tjark) and so I would really like to hear your thoughts on archetypal team compositions like that: overwatch, final vengance, infiltrate, suppression, summoner, multi-hit, psyker, fast and furious, etc. Love the channel! I appreciate this type of video. I understand why most videos focus on guild raids. But TA is probably the most fun game mode. So it's nice to see some love coming its way.
I would like to see more teams.
I personally run a counter/map control team. (Counter to cookie cutter and summoner teams) and my win/loss is roughly 4/1. (Really only losing to team ragnar(maybe I can add arjac somehow))
In my opinion it is the only real "game" mode in the game. The rest is standard skinner box F2P stuff with a fun puzzle mode or two (GR, quests, LRE) gated by grinding to encourage spending more money.
I would say the opposite, its just the true PvP portion of a PvE game consider it more like multiplayer expansions for single player games. LRE style content and game modes are definitely one of the best ways they can make the game more fun. Old modes being reworked towards that would add a ton of life to the game short and long term imo.@@malloc7108

Great content! Kudos to legendJRG, for the tips. Last tournament I played against him with a similar list (Ragnar, Celestine, Godswyl, Rev’as and Thaddeus), and his team is dangerous!!

Minor note, you don't have to kill "all 5" enemy characters for power ups, you just have to kill 5.
As a new player I've earned some sneaky wins from players who used Isabella's active and I assume didn't realise the original kill still counted and they've just offered up an already damaged character who will count again.
Great tip. I thought I may have done that last time but wasn't sure. It really makes the her weak in tournament once that becomes known.
worth noting that Rotbone and Incisus resurrection from passives doesn't count towards kills done, tho!

As someone who often runs a mostly Thousand Sons army (with Sybel instead or Ahriman for Overwatch), I agree with the points made with the Psyker Slingshot.
Toth is also a very nice character to move forwards and bait an attack with for this team build in my experience.

Talking about the guilds and how all players can contribute, how to unify goals and so.
Sometimes when a new player enters in a guild, often found thats it's just guild raids, ask for an item an so. Would be awesome to watch how is the daily for an expert guild mate and how they work together to achieve goals as a group!!

As someone, who does not enjoy live PvP in the game for my own reasons (mostly because I do not care about it and so I am very bad at it), I enjoyed this video. Even tho I will probably never enjoy the PvP element myself. :D

Jaeger's Passive works almost as well as Ulf's, with the bonus that it works on characters as well.
Use his Active to target the opponent's most powerful character.
Melee hits plus godswyl makes him not only be able to one shot one, but two characters
But he dies before getting in range lol

I find myself getting annoyed at all the TA haters and was wondering if it was just because of a lack of information about how to play and this is a great video touching on that! A few recommendations for a future videos that might help newer folks in particular:
1.For any "best" team videos (but TA in particular) I would always include at least one team that *only* includes core campaign and starter characters (bonus if you can make a good team without mirror campaign characters). I have been playing for over a year and I can't use any of the teams listed and have no way to get them. Some example teams:
No mirror characters: Snottflogga, vindicta, Calandis, archie, Certus.
Including mirror characters: Thaddeus, Godswyl, Calandis, + (Yaz, Abraxas) or (Snottflogga, Vindicta) are all good. (Swapping Tjark for Sybill and Ahriman for calandis/thadd/Snott/Godswyl in your video could work too- but I haven't seen a team like that so that might be an older meta)
2. tips on using the danger zone and when to NOT rely on the danger zone.
3. How to identify alpha strike teams, how force them into making sub-optimal alpha strikes against tanks (eg. Move snottflogga, and *only* snotflogga into striking distance so they either move into range of your 4 characters to take snott out or he runs in and taunts everyone), identifying when your team should go for the alpha strike or wait etc...you could structure this content as how you could could try to counter each meta team using example campaign-only character team.
great guide, and great content as usual. If I may provide you some suggestions, as I think top players register their matches it may be good to have some example of effective counters on tghe top strategies in the next video related to arena contents ;)
Much harder to get video examples of counters but could certainly do match breakdowns and offer what we would have done in the opponents position potentially as a duo commentary. Good idea, thank you for suggesting it!
Sadly I feel like all these teams are only accessible to long term players compared to ones who have started in the last couple of months, would love to see some more simple teams and tactics to apply there
We intentionally led with cookie cutter because not only are they some of the most frequently seen characters, they are all relatively easy to get and necessary for game progression in campaigns(Thad, Calandis, Aleph, Archi). Overall that MOST players even early ones can field many of these characters already.

As somebody who runs Ragnar/Aunshi/Jain Zar because I think it is hilarious (and the 250 points for the last chest isn't that hard) , there's really no hard counter to Celestine in live TA unless the opponent is dumb or you use Arjac to get rid of one of her angel summons. I think the only counter to that 5 legendary line-up mentioned in the video would be a full Deathguard/chaos team with Rotbone revive RNG
In general, Aunshi giving melee units like Ragnar & Templars 5 melee range plus the possibility of a Ragnar double howl boosting Jain Zar to one shot the other team has very few viable counters. Snowprint should make it so Ragnar is not the only hero able to use their active twice in a single turn just because of Aunshi.
What makes this a serious problem is most people in the player base don't have access to these units or their counters, which leads to a surplus of threads on Reddit about how the game mode sucks
It's not just that players don't have them, but such comps make others play more meta characters, resulting in large amount of meta-slaves. That way game quickly turns from fun to something that reminds of a job.
There thankfully has not been a "meta" team or even teams in a very long time. One of the most exciting parts about the mode to me at least. Jaegar with a melee or health buff is an incredible counter to this all melee team. Much in the way Ulf is to summons, there are very clear solo and team answers to most popular teams and that rock/paper/scissor aspect makes things fun. I would say because of how this team beats the "usual" characters like Thad/Calandis/Revas handily it may seem like flavor of the moment meta but having run it a bunch there are some really hard counters to it, just spacing your team to not get blown up turn 2 significantly ups your chances of winning against it.@@LayronPK

I find TA alot of fun, but it tends to suck for new players without access to a large roster.
I personally dont think that the characters that start as Legendary are scaled down properly for Common or Uncommon.
Perhaps Celestine should only get 1 summon in lower tiers.
Good video but i have 2 things that i was missing.
Sybill and Makhotep slot very nicely into the Abraxas Yazagor combo as one provides concealment and the other allows you to stay safe for a turn and reposition to get the first strike on most maps. The downside is, that you might be screwed by bad maps at time.
the second thing, the Ragnar really doesn't work with "any melee characters". if you do not run Celestine it lacks the option to pressure the "goodstuff" or overwatch/ranged teams to make the first turn. If you are then additionally missing aun shi, just don't even try.
Celestine is a must have and aun'shi is close to it, the rest is up to the player, but calgar is significantly better than most others.
Other than that, i am really happy you covered this part of the game a bit more as i think a lot of people have no idea at all how to approach it.
for the first that is why everyone but yaz/abraxas are red, you can literally run them with any other 3 characters and they will fit into the strategy.
For the second, considering the buff works on all melee it really does enable pretty much all of them greatly increased effectiveness. Tjark, Jain, and deathleaper are all melee options for dealing with overwatch but Celestine is certainly great in that role too, I use her more as bait than OW control which I have both Jain and Tjark for on my 7 man roster this current TA.
Best game mode, love TA. Slightly hate the final team, it is PAIN lol. Pretty sure Legend has run me over with it a couple times.

Beginner guide for arena would be good, like some types of off comps. Been playing for couple months love the game! But I don’t have many legendaries and have 1 or 2 counters but can’t seem to put together rest of a team

Quick question, do i need to match the gear to the mode? If i use epic gear in uncommon does it nullify?
Well, This for what I can see are suggestions for compositions.
What I am looking for is information so I can do my own theory crafting.
1. what slots are for spawns on each map(So I can order my heroes in order.
2. What equipments to I need and how it works, Heard that crit bonus items on legendary give the full 5% bonus crit chance, and having epic 1 items is not rentable as the bonus is lower than rare 7
3. What is the sparky portrait on the heroes in hero select?
I would love this questions answered more than Farm this 5 legendary heroes and win all games.
Slots are completely irrelevant for 7 but for 5 man modes its left to right if going second(top of map) or right to left if going first in the order you pick them this has changed for some modes(tyranids) before so not sure if that is intentional or mode specific.
Item level "devolves" to match the rarity cap you play at. If you have an Epic 9 item and you play rare it becomes a Rare 7 item of the same type. If you have an Epic 5 item it becomes rare 5, legendary 3 rare 3 and so on. Crit bonuses on higher tiers used to not be devalued(5 to 3) but I believe that was fixed awhile ago and even if not is a pretty irrelevant as crit is one of the least reliable things in the game.
Sparkly portraits denote that they have every item and ability at the highest possible place they can be for the mode. For rare that is 26/26 abilities, and 7/7/7 items.

I find several maps in this iteration to be unbalanced to the point where I can effectively quit if I spawn on the wrong side. If my enemy gets damage and multiattack, grabs them with noble and calandis, I found there is nothing I can do to prevent losing. Both will one-shot characters afterwards
Jain freezbe of death is amazing with Ragnar combo.
40% crit from ragnar + her normal 35% + aethana, even on uncommon she will have about 80-90% crit. And har acrive can crit. If you get bonus hits... game over.
With the stacked war howl, does it double the damage cap? Or just the percentages?
It applies both buffs but the damage is still subject to the original cap value .. so if the 1st howl got a champ to the cap amount the 2nd won't help

I think you missed explaining how important it is to keep in mind thant in infestation (nurgle or tiranids), overwatch like Calandis' is not much worth it. The sororitas saint also is not that useful. And how good it is for Shoshil. I know this because what was the first team of LegendJRG is my main (looking into mechanical-mechanicus combo as well).
Also, I would mention for newer players how ch's get capped and how it afects items (seen some ppl go into rare cap with bronze 2 or 3)

If Ragnar gets a kill. Then someone moves next to Ulf and uses an ability, like Calgar, does Ulfs passive get the bonus hit/crit from Ragnar passive, or only his regular attack?
Active and passive on Ulf and most characters only get very conditional riders like Eldryon buff and high ground bonus. Only his basic on his turn he moves into contact with an enemy would he get Ulf's passive pass down.

can we get a beginners version of this, who dont have all the meta characters yet? So how to do well with F2P or easily accessible builds?
Archi, Calandis, Thaddeus, and Aleph are all pivotal characters for progressing in the games campaigns for new players to get and just happen to be some of the best TA characters as well. Any new players should be gunning for each of these to get campaigns unlocked anyway.
@@LegendJRG Thanks man, yeah ive unlocked thad and Sho and they're gamechangers, but still each of these builds is then supported by Legendary characters. Food for thought on maybe a more beginner accessible range. Ahriman, and Abraxas are quite deep. Revas is rng and then obviously the last full legendary one is... haha! But my point is around maybe making it more accessible for players starting out, which would be good for game growth

@@tanidaocphoenix9179 yea of course and Revas is just great in that specific comp and all around good in most any other. I would say the best beginner characters from campaigns/easy to get are Varro, Bellator, Archimatos, Aleph Null, Imospekh, Thaddeus, Calandis, Yarrick(5$ offer), Godswyl, Thoread, Makhotep, Sybil, Vindicta. All of them are above average and most of them are actually top tier characters on par with Legendaries.

What is Alpha Strike??? Please explain these terms if you're going to use them.
I think it's 'deep strike' in game, if it's the teleport mechanic that angrax, wrask and a few others have. The gist with the alpha strike is using a method to as turn one as possible get as close to eliminating an enemies damage dealer. Another way to think of it would be just use characters that assassinate low total health pool damage dealers turn one. An example would be using haarken to jump on a sho syl that used its active turn 1, sho won't have a Drone to defen him and will eat a lot of damage and with the rest of your team reaching the battle turn 2 someone with range finish off the shosyl and then the high pierce passively summoned drones won't bother you and their team left with a huge portion of their damage gone to the wind.

Unfortunately, I think this video has had an unintended side effect-almost every team I go up against in PVP is cookie cutter now. PVP has lost a lot of variety and flavor.
Legendary characters just break the balance of the TA. This mode can be fun, but it has a terrible balancing
