AC Tennis “First Impressions” review is more detailed and explanatory than other content creators “Full Review”. Love it mate, incredible vid. Super-interesting hearing about the 98+ having never tried an extended length racquet myself. Great hitting also 👍
Excellent video, your dedication to the craft is admirable. I haven’t used the ezone line in a few generations. I’m more of a vcore person. I’ll definitely demo it when we eventually start stocking yonex frames.
@ I think I may have hit with it briefly, and I believe I liked it. How do you like yours? I’m currently in between 3 racquets: Whiteout 18*20, pure aero 98 and RF01 pro. I like them all for different reasons.
Thank you Sir Andy 😁 My partner switched to the Vcore 98 ever since I did a review on it and hasn't looked back, my game has changed since then and actually might suit Vcore more at the moment with how it handles, but quite enjoyed the 98+, surprised i was getting as much wrist action as i was cuz i'm definitely not your size and strength haha That you committed to doing the store from your usual career is most commendable, and makes me wanna do something like that
@@tenniswithandy I switched from the pure strike 98 18x20. I get better feedback from the stringbed and a longer dwell time from the constant beam width and flexy throat. It helps me adjust from shot to shot. I probably get a heavier ball from the pure strike. I'm still getting used to the percept for the volleys. The shape of the percept and the smaller head size helps on the serve for me. Currently testing different strings (RPM blast, RPM rough, ALU power, hawk touch, hawk power, polytour pro, restring sync, toroline Caviar and O toro) strung around 54-56 lba.
Thanks mate. I think i'll consider doing them once the field dies down in Q1, when there's less stuff going on, too much craziness at start of next year, i'm barely going to keep up lol
Another spot on review! I'm only a UTR 4.5 but I demo'd the new 98, 100 and 100+. Used to main the 2022 EZ100 and of course have a DR98 to compare as well. If money was not an issue I would have one of the new EZ100s in the bag for when I get completely gassed, balls get old and need easy depth. The outgoing 100 I have currently serves that purpose (as well as being a great doubles stick) but everything is even easier with the new version - easier on the arm, easier power, better touch, more consistent string bed, same rock solid stability. Agree that the old ones got a bit stiff if strung high but my demos were also strung with PTP at 53lbs and had no comfort issues at all. I'm not good enough or fit enough to play with a 98 for the course of a match to keep the high swing speed up but the new one is much more forgiving than the DR98, which I found the sweet spot to be pretty small, however the flexy profile of the DR is still really nice to play with if playing well and my ceiling was a lot higher with that. The 100+ I tried for fun and might be a switch for a friend who's a defensive grinder using the 2019 PA (again, if money wasn't an issue). I think Plus versions/XL frames are still a pretty underrated option for better rec players just to get that more reach but still not unmanageable being under/around 330 SW.
You mention something about the ezone 100 that I have found with the outgoing version but no other reviewers have mentioned. I find i can crank the ball at contact and it flies through the air fast but when it hits the court it loses energy somehow and my opponents can handle it. It's kind of weird, like i expect to do a lot of damage but it doesn't quite happen on their end haha. Also, the way you were hitting in the video is how i think it plays best, i.e. hitting flat laser beams, more first strike kind of tennis. I don't think it is as well suited to baseline grinders. Lastly, i agree that its not great for creating spin, it can be done but its got a low launch angle and you have to have strokes that create spin, it won't give you much like the latest vcore. Because of its stability and lower weight it is a real weapon at the net. Great review!!
That's particularly what i'm a bit worried about if i decide to give it a real go , because with my most difficult opponents, i need every millisecond taken away from their time as an aggressive player, that bit of time that they get for free off the bounce will allow them to defend easier - and i don't expect that I would bother weighing this up at all because it's so thick already, i think i'd just become slower - stock is where it's at for sure with the low weight But on the upside all that stability would probably allow me to play defensively and counter alot easier, where my current Gpro i can struggle if i don't swing enough on defense 🙂 Thanks for the feedback!
AC…I am pleased that you reviewed the Ezones. I am moving on from my prototype Shift 99, and decided to try the new Gravity 98 and the new Ezone 100..( some have suggested that I try the VCore 100, too)…I don’t play at your level , but I play very well for my age… singles 4.0… You did suggest that I try the Ezone 100. You seem to like it as well as the Gravity 98. I string with gut in mains 55, poly in crosses 52 to protect my elbow, but I am always tempted to go full poly. Is my string set up good for all of these racquets? And, considering these three racquets, which do you think would be a best fit?OHB ( slice, flat), SW forehand ( moderate spin and flat) … compact strokes with just moderate head speed… Happy Hollidays, Best, John… Again, imo, you produce the best racket videos on RUclips.
New EZ100 i think will be more arm friendly, because of the stability, there is really not much shock that goes through the arm because of that - Gravity 98 is comfortable, but you are going to have to swing out big time, and if your technique is not the type that you are very loose and free flowing, it may lead you to have a lot more tension in your muscles, forcing the stroke to generate power, which would also result in tennis elbow or golfer's elbow For the average person, EZ100 is safer to play with, and full poly should be fine if you use a softer setup like Poly Tour Pro But don't think it would be great for most people with OHBH, though the slices is very nice . SW grip is ok, depends on your swing path, if you have quite an open racquet face and traditional stroke mechanics, it would work alot better with how thick the EZ100 is. Compact can still work, because it does generate some good power - but if you want more spin, good power, comfort and all, Clash V3 is also an option if you haven't though about that Thanks for your comments and support as always, Happy Holidays 🙂
Thank you for your impressions of the new Ezone line. I would be delighted if you were to purchase the Ezone 100 and create a full review of it, as I am most interested in this model 😊 I played the Ezone 100 2020 for a year and the Ezone 100 2022 for a brief 15 minutes. In my recollection, the Ezone 100 2020 had high spin potential. The maneuverability wasn't as good as the Ezone 98 2020/2022, but the string pattern was more open and the launch angle was higher. I've never played an Ezone 98+ or 100+, as they are unfortunately not offered in Germany. I'll be testing the Ezone 100 as soon as it's available as a demo. I've always been fascinated by the controllable power of the 100. However, if I can't generate enough spin with the EZ100 2025, it would be a dealbreaker for me, as I primarily play on clay and heavy topspin is very important there.
To get some great spin, you gotta be like Casper Ruud i imagine lol, it's such a thick beam, i resorted to very efficient stroke pattern - I think i could get higher launch angle, it's not really a problem, especially with sharper strings, but it will be more difficult to be consistently looping the ball unless you throw yourself at it. Clay would be a tough one
My Gpro has higher swingweight and i swing faster, so i penetrate the court fully - where EZ100 , thicker beam and low max potential swing speed, i wont be able to go right through (in particular with very heavy duty balls, which i often am playing with)
@@ACTennis, I was thinking of the comparison in matchplay for you over a longer period of time. The Ezone could potentially keep you fresher for longer while still having access to quality shots. Also it would be interesting to see some Vlog style content of your matchplay games
@@OldManMidnight That's for sure why both the 98+ and 100 kind of interest me, but if i decide, i gotta try only 1 of them, hopefully i don't make the wrong decision lol
@@ACTennisget both and sell the one that doesn’t work out. I may do the same. Current EZ98 user and think I need a bit more fire power but my serve with the 100 is just not the same as with the 98, for reasons you mention. Despite being lighter, the thick frame and high twist weight of the 100, make the serve and OHBH feel sluggish.
@ Too many frames coming out in Jan that i would like to try, lol - the resale value is very bad in Australia, everyone wants to gib you hard, low ball offers everywhere, and takes a while for things to sell even though reasonably below RRP already
Wicked INTRO! You like the feel? You are a rare RUclipsr sir. Presenters LOVE bashing the Yonex for the antivibration tech. Only tried the VCore 97D (last year's) it was difficult returning the demo I have to say. That 2025 flexibility in the throat is where they used there Minolon silk. The highest tensile strength in a natural substance. Interesting you point that out candidly because flexibility enhances touch and feel, accuracy too if a well made racquet. That tells me Minolon works. You're getting oodles of pop on that 1 handed b/h. Is that you or the racket. Having seen you inject pace numerous times before, hunch your technique is a big factor. Your arm looks loose in this session, that's the way the V-Core 97 D felt, buttery smooth and painless. Made me want* to hit harder. That's a very big deal. Anyway I'm a Doubles player with a seemingly insurmountable problem. I want a '97,' 98, or maybe a '99. Not for power obviously it's the accuracy I know I'm lacking. Which would you prefer competing with an Ezone' 98, a Gravity '98, a Pure Strike' 98 or something else perhaps? Very good video, what the Easy One also encourages is aggressive consistency. I'm certain that's why Yonex is so popular these days. I haven't had a bagworm hit yet but just the strategy sounds to compound on Yonex's success. Easy, accurate, injury free power. Thank you comprehensive video, enjoyed it. 👍
Gosh, tough choices honestly, many things are good, i could easily move to another frame if i didn't have my main to fall back on. Depends on your swing type firstly The Strike 98, for me went too high swingweight and head heavier, didn't feel like that was the right direction, preferred the previous gen Gravity 98 there's not alot in between the 50-70% range, it wants you to swing swing swing, and can damage can be done as positively as it can negatively lol, but I'm a Gravity user so it comes pretty naturally at this point Honestly if i didn't have the previous EZ98, i'd pick this one up, because of the extra forgiveness, more than the average 98 these days, for personally i'd perform better as i'd be able to stay on top of the ball with less consequence - i can string tighter with no comfort issues if i need more control, and gives adequate amount of power - when i did swing out a bit more it definitely kept the ball down, felt completely fine to me, second nature I'm hearing good things about the new T-Fight though, i haven't personally used it, but apparently it's made the right changes, even in the mould
I think that was to do with the muted feel + slightly lower forgiveness, so when you off centred the shot, you wouldn't notice as easily, and then essentially it would be a mishit and do something random like drop short or launch The addition of being softer + being more forgiving, i think there's going to be more power to offer outside the old sweet zone, but if you get used to controlling the frame, there should be less of it IMO
Gravity 98 and Ezone 98 both suit me quite well, potentially Gravity 98 suits me just a little more because i use Gravity Pro normally, but you cannot beat the serve on the Ezone 98, so it's always a tough choice between the two - Ezone 100 not really for me because it's really fat haha, but i'm still willing to give it a go just to see
Don't know if it’s the camera angle and I know the 100 is more powerful than the 98, but the extra power and the more penetrating ball flight in the 100 was very obvious in your shots.
@@chirokom Nah it's definitey like that lol, but because it's very controlled you can stay on the gas more - but it just depends if i would want to play like that with less spin as an option, and also the serve i would lose alot of my advantage on it
@ From your video it was nice to actually see the ball flight, power, speed, control etc between the 2 different head sizes. I personally play with the 100 now after years of playing with a 98 (as generating my own power in my late 40s isn't easy anymore for 2-3 hours on court). I could always tell there was extra power coming off from the 100, not to mention it being easier to hit, but I could never tell how much more and how penetrative it was. Too many demo videos are shot from one end of the court and give limited visual information about the playing characteristics but your video angles did a really great job in comparing the different functionality of the 2 head sizes, and even though this video pertains to the Yonex brand, you could still use it to demonstrate what one would expect to happen in other brands that supply models with a variation of head sizes. Thank you for your upload.
@@chirokom Thank you! Yeah i purposely switched to this angle more often in recent videos, because i always felt like i was winding up massive at times and the camera wouldn't catch barely anything unless you really watched attentively, so it's good to know it works in the way in what i was attempting 🙂
I'm 1.78m or around 5ft 10 - I actually use full clay Gel Resolutions, because in winter, these surfaces get quite slippery with the fog or wet weather, so I need as much grip as possible so i don't slip and tear something. Also the tread on the soles for the clay ones are crazy durable, they look like they last forever
One plus is the fact you felt it was a little more comfortable to hit with than the previous version? Any idea what the RA is and if it is lower than the version 7?!
@ACTennis ok thank you, potentially a few points lower than the last version which can be no bad thing. Comfort seems to be the battle ground with new rackets currently!!
Sorry i forgot to reply lol - Think of the Percept 100 like a squared version of the Ezone, with similar playing characteristics. Ezone is going to suit a faster, whippier style swing, has the spin, power, forgiveness, everything you need. Percept 100 can compete quite well in all categories, it may need some additional static weight and swingweight to compete equally (because it comes in a lighter package) but instead Percept 100 is probably suited to players who prefer bigger, loopier, traditional style mechanics, because the 23mm beam is not going to move through the air as easy with the EZone style of swing As for 100D, same comments apply, but it's going to be lower launch angle, more stability and controlled in comparison to both EZ98 and Percept 100, maybe very marginal decrease in power potential since the pattern is more closed
@@ACTennis yeah dead on ,originally i thought the 100D would be better than the ezone 100 for me because i have a sensitive elbow and it seemed to play softer even though its RA is almost as high. But i found over time it felt sluggish or unwieldy somehow and i could not get completely comfortable with it. I tried adding weight to the handle to make it feel a bit whippier but it wasn't enough. The Percept 100D is underated in the power dept, at tensions in the mid 40's i found it could be a bit of a cannon, but sometimes too much depth without the ability to shape the ball due to sluggish maneouverability and tight string pattern.
I mostly skipped the last generation Pure Drive, and last played with the 2018 one , bit hard for me to remember, but the string pattern is alot more open on PD, i think launch angle would be quite a bit higher, not nearly as comfortable (sounds like that could be changed for the new one coming), PD will still have higher top end power, because it's stiffer, and probably easier access to spin
I'm a big fan of playing with the easiest to use, lightest, best performing racquet - I havent used the DR in a looong time, but other than maybe feel, I would say this one would be the one to help me win more matches, which is what I am more concerned about than anything else - I like to review based on what helps you play my best
Other than the lower launch angle did you find the 2025 98 generates less spin? Some other reviewers have mentioned this as something they've noticed which worries me
@@fretstain I cannot imagine it would be super noticeable enough , if anything it would come from the slightly less whippier feel i was getting , which means less speed vertically, but pair with spin string and im sure itd be fine
Correct - but can't do much here, it's how the demos come in, not my preference but i'd rather be able to have a go at the racquet , instead of having to dish out all the money just to test it. It's fine otherwise, not a grip size beyond what I can use, but not my preference
After 2 vcore 98's i bought ezone 98 2024 a month ago. I really love it. If money is not an issue would you recommend to change to 2025 or just stick with this one? I also use PTP but at 52. Nice and unbiased video. Keep it up
@@nicolasX2602 If you like the current one, no need honestly, if you think there is a bit of a dead spot in the frame sometimes when you are playing intense (i.e drops short suddenly or launches more than you want) , thats where the extra forgiveness can come in, because even if you mishit, youll get more depth, more spin etc for free, just allows you to play marginally better overall for all the more difficult defensive points
WTF dude this is like your 10,000th video this month you are an editing demon now
Made up for the year, now i'm done for 2025 😁

I think that was to do with the muted feel + slightly lower forgiveness, so when you off centred the shot, you wouldn't notice as easily, and then essentially it would be a mishit and do something random like drop short or launch
The addition of being softer + being more forgiving, i think there's going to be more power to offer outside the old sweet zone, but if you get used to controlling the frame, there should be less of it IMO
my friend AC Tennis, hello from Russia. What the better for you& for your style? Ezone 98/100 or new Gravity Tour98 2025?
Gravity 98 and Ezone 98 both suit me quite well, potentially Gravity 98 suits me just a little more because i use Gravity Pro normally, but you cannot beat the serve on the Ezone 98, so it's always a tough choice between the two - Ezone 100 not really for me because it's really fat haha, but i'm still willing to give it a go just to see
Great reviews, will the new ISO 300 and 305 be reviewed in early 25?
Ty! possibly the 305, hearing good things about it already
Thanks for the great video again! How tall are you? Do you wear omni court tennis shoes or all court gel resolution?
I'm 1.78m or around 5ft 10 - I actually use full clay Gel Resolutions, because in winter, these surfaces get quite slippery with the fog or wet weather, so I need as much grip as possible so i don't slip and tear something. Also the tread on the soles for the clay ones are crazy durable, they look like they last forever
One plus is the fact you felt it was a little more comfortable to hit with than the previous version? Any idea what the RA is and if it is lower than the version 7?!
I don't know for sure, since TW haven't released their measurement yet, going off purely by feel, i'd say like 60-61 range
@ACTennis ok thank you, potentially a few points lower than the last version which can be no bad thing. Comfort seems to be the battle ground with new rackets currently!!
How do the Ezone 98 , 100 compare to the Percept 100?
Yes pls comment on this, percept 100 and 100D
@The4.0Guy yes another vote for this from me!
Sorry i forgot to reply lol - Think of the Percept 100 like a squared version of the Ezone, with similar playing characteristics. Ezone is going to suit a faster, whippier style swing, has the spin, power, forgiveness, everything you need. Percept 100 can compete quite well in all categories, it may need some additional static weight and swingweight to compete equally (because it comes in a lighter package) but instead Percept 100 is probably suited to players who prefer bigger, loopier, traditional style mechanics, because the 23mm beam is not going to move through the air as easy with the EZone style of swing
As for 100D, same comments apply, but it's going to be lower launch angle, more stability and controlled in comparison to both EZ98 and Percept 100, maybe very marginal decrease in power potential since the pattern is more closed
@@ACTennis thank you for taking the time to pull together such a detailed reply, very helpful. Have a great Xmas!!
Thank you for your thoughts about new EZONE
How it compares with PureDtive?
I mostly skipped the last generation Pure Drive, and last played with the 2018 one , bit hard for me to remember, but the string pattern is alot more open on PD, i think launch angle would be quite a bit higher, not nearly as comfortable (sounds like that could be changed for the new one coming), PD will still have higher top end power, because it's stiffer, and probably easier access to spin
DR98 fan here. I would love to know whether you really move top this new stick over the DR.
@@ACTennis thanks!
How expensive are they going to be?
At least in Australia, originally when the 2022 came out, it was around $380 AUD, now it's $420 listed as full RRP
You shouldn't play with a too big grip size that can lead to injuries. Also the racket can play and feel differently than with your normal grip size.
Have you considered trying the 100+?
Never really considered the 100 in general at this point, i think i'd stop at the 98+ though, i know it suits me better
New Yéar
Néw Racquet
New Diét
You have your priorities right 😁
Ra?
No measurements yet from my end, but feels good to me, like 60-61
