Thank you for this walk-through. I've used pfblocker in the past and had issues with use. I never found a good tutorial and abandoned it's use on many of my firewalls just for lack of time to really dig in. Things are a little slower for me lately, so the timing of your video is perfect.
Great video; I just configured pfsense and was wondering whether this would also prevent RUclips ads, unfortunately it did not; still, it was a great video that explained everything in detail. On Chrome, it nearly prevented all advertisements. I have two enquiries, one connected to this video, and the second in general. 1. If there is a way to block RUclips adverts, either through the RUclips app on a tablet or the RUclips website on any browser, please let me know. 2. I have a FreeNas file server set up on premises, and I only want one PC to have access to it; is that possible? Thank you, and channel subscribed.
Bro, I have setup pfsense as DNS server using resolver. Using self signed ssl certificate. I cannot access pfsense gui via domainname but IP resolves. How to troubleshoot this? Thank you?
@@vikash-tech-wizard Thanks for the reply. Using hosts file defeats the purpose of DNS. I have tried "allowed" and custom TLDs in vain. It's okay I will find my way. Thanks again.

1. Yes use ad adblocker in your browser which can do specifically that

Check internal search domain setting on pfsense, make sure you use an “allowed” tld internally and check client settings for dns

Hello, can you elaborate on how you can filter ads while using a microsoft DC, DNS and DHCP server with pfsense as a router?
Either you forward all DNS request from the DC to pfSense, or you hand out pfSense as a DNS server using DHCP
What is the best configuration for setting up the IP section I only use IPV4 but what action should i use?
You can use IP lists and only enable IP blocking. There are already lists in pfSense which allows blocking based in IP
This doesn't block ads from RUclips.... it has been a while since we can find a good feed to do so. And I meant for the entire network
Blocking ads on yt videos based on dns sinkhole is not possible.
@@vikash-tech-wizard you need browser based filters are needed like ublock origin but for the most part does a good job
This cannot block YT ads which are coming from the same domain as the video. For that, use something like Ublock Origin in your browser
Of course, that's a different issue all together.
and still lots of ads on youtube,
RUclips in-video ads cannot be blocked using a dns sinkhole like pfblockerng, pihole or adguard home.
Other ad blockers are working for me.
