That's a bit reductive. Unit 4 is radioactive, sure, but being in there for a minute or even an hour and then leaving to a normal background will not injure you in an appreciable way.
A rainy and stormy night in west Germany. And my mate ThatChernobylGuy drops a new video. Thanks Sir. Highly appreciated. The best of my New Year’s Day. Happy New Year to everyone.
It's a shame the Chernobyl series got so much wrong/inaccurate as it's a well made and entertaining series. Thanks for giving more backstory and clarification to the forgotten
I would really love to see the reaction of the actors confronted with the truth. They did an excellent job (like many others of the crew), unfortunately to contribute to a narration full of bs.
It’s not a documentary! 🤦♂️ I think THAT is the problem! You think because it’s a story based on something it has to be 100 % accurate with no creative liberties taken. The last episode even explained why some things were shown the way they were.
I agree. Though watching the series got me into reading about other nuclear disasters and learning about how to build nukes in the process. There should be a short story about the SL-1 reactor disaster.
love the videos, i was curious to ask if you would ever make a video about the reactor 4 pit, and why its mostly empty. i saw a documentary of people going inside the reactor and jesus that sent chills down my spine, i would love to see and know more about the remains of the reactor itself. keep up the good work!
The short answer as to why it's empty, is because the bulk of it became airborne for a brief moment during its rapid unscheduled disassembly in '86. Most of it fell down in the vicinity, but enough got carried by the wind to be detectable as far as Norway and Sweden.
The start of a new year, and he spoils u with a new video right off the bat. Can't wait to see what you have for us in this year. As an aside. There's a file waiting for you. It's the fully translated Sidorenko - History of the RBMK book. Where do I send it?
Something tells me thermal injuries were on the low end of injury risks. Something about a melted down core might be a bit more injurious. It was only 3.6 roentgens. So.....not great, not terrible.
Steam burns shouldn't be underestimated. It's not like getting splashed with boiling water. They were literally getting blasted by high pressure superheated vapor.

I heard somewhere that the mistakes in the HBO series were done on purpose, because of the lies and everything the USSR hid.
That’s called “not well made”. 😂

I'm fairly confident in my ability to get injured without the aid of a tutorial but I appreciate the sentiment.
For real!
I really enjoyed your mini documentary, I learned some things i had no idea of. Subscribed and.Thank you... Cheers

They should have just got some water into the core and then continue with the safety test

Not to mention the steam was highly radioactive. So, it's a double whammy.

The Music Is Perfect For This Video, Great Choice
0:28 What A Surprise
We all know that Chernobyl, the excellent series, was a dramatisation of events and by no stretch of the imagination a factual documentary
@@saintuk70 Who is "we"? Because the majority of people that watched it took it as a documentary for sure.
@@saintuk70unfortunately, many people believe the series is a documentary. Realistically much of it is misrepresented or downright false.

Great video!
Love your videos
what this looks to be is that there was a very narrow space where you would be neither immediately killed, nor relatively uninjured
The phonecall narration. It was like we were right there!
"How to get injured in unit four:"
Be there.
Can you do a tutorial on how to get injured in building 3?
*_steam separators_*
Pause at 9:48 and look at the top left part of the image. Is that... fuel? Hanging down from above, pointing directly at the control panel? D:
Just out of curiosity what is involved with a bone marrow transplant how long would this take?

I'm currently in the middle of rewatching the HBO miniseries, so this is great timing!
The HBO miniseries is garbage, HBO should be sued for defamation and the show taken off line, and youre a m0r0n for watching it
Someone get this man to the infirmary.
I was not expecting to hear my last name in this but to be fair, its a very common last name
Good tutorial, very helpful 👍
Can you give me a link to chernobyls almost gunfight?
I cant seem to find it
You mention floors 26,36, etc. Were there really that many floors in Chernobyl? Or am i misunderstanding something?
The floor number indicates how many meters above ground it is :)

Yes.
In Russian ë is pronounced yo so Chërnobyl is pronounced the same as Chyornobyl
