    Very informative video. Would be great to expand this topic to a color LCD's functioning. Thank you and best regards,

      Color LCD has a a color Filter with lines of RGB glued to them. The backlight then can be white instead of green. Horizontal resolution goes down by a factor of three. Theoretically, the polarisers could be optimized for wavelength when using twisted nematic. I think for in plane switching by TFTs, it does not matter.

    I am still confused about the different driver chips. I understand that I need those chips with 80 pins to connect to the LCD. These chips have a small number of input pins to simulate a CRT or Laser scanner. serial data goes in and fills the screen.
    Now I wonder if I could remove the memory. For a gameboy or Sega game gear ( even if emulated ) I want to send the lines just in time.
    For framebuffer based Atari Lynx it would be great if one could include a small FPGA to compensate the previous frame ( double / tripple buffering ) to reduce lag. I imagine 480 fps to implement pulse width modulation for the delta value. For passive displays, cross talk needs to be compensated.

      good morning
      yes scanner or T-Con controller receives 8 lines LVDS signals (4 pairs) and expands it into X-Y drives for panel array (depending on display type)
      as the answer of the second part of your question, i have no comment. because i never tried or never attempted to do in this way.

    Do each pixel have a + and - ?

    • @ArneChristianRosenfeldt
      @ArneChristianRosenfeldt 5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, top and bottom electrode made of Indium Tin Oxyde . On better LCDs there is this black matrix which probably made of real metal. ITO is just good enough for current from the edge of the pixel to the center.
      In plane switching uses transistors ( on glass ? ) and the metal electrodes between the pixels. So left and right electrode. The transistor also has two inputs

      When you look at dismantled TVs , you find many driver chips along the edges. 80 lines are not enough . So use 10 chips .
