World Book Day.
A quick video explaining why we celebrate World Book Day at Lapwing Cottage. There is something about books, both old and new, that provide a tactile and sensorial aspect to reading and researching that cannot be gained from a screen and keyboard. You can feel them, turn their delicate pages, smell them, be they musty and old or pristine and new, you see the beauty of the layout and even hear the faint rustle of the pages as you turn them. Reading from a book in your favourite armchair is a pleasurable, almost comforting, all encompassing experience, which reading from a screen on a hard, squeaky office chair is not!
