- Farmers are used to the “impractical nonsense” of the animal rights organisation PETA - but their latest take on the mice plague “takes the cake”, says NSW Farmers Vice President Xavier Martin.
“Look farmers are used to the totally impractical nonsense that PETA come up with almost on a daily basis - but this one pretty well takes the cake,” he told Sky news host Chris Kenny.
The mouse infestation is devastating farmers and their livelihoods and is on track to cause a $100 million damage bill.
Farmers being told what to do by people who can't keep a cactus alive on their office windowsill.

@@janc8199 Not even just strays there has been several known instances where they stole an animal off someones property and the only reason people found out was due to security cameras or someone watching them. I mean, I love animals. And Idealistically, sure, I'd "like" it if somehow we could solve this without any of them getting hurt. But this is a Mouse PLAUGE. It's legit insane. To even bring up catch and release in a situation like this is ridiculous-it's clearly an over-population problem! If you release these things somewhere else, they'll just destroy the eco-system there instead. And they can't stay where they are, because they are destroying the lives of other creatures still. There is only one solution, and it's extermination. Not like mice are an endangered species. We just gotta thin their numbers a little. to be fair if you caught them all in a giant box, didn't feed any of them. they'd eat eachother until the last one standing.. you'd only have "one" left to release.. and it probably wouldn't even eat normal food anymore, just other mice... but this would probably go awry and the cannibal mouse would start eating cats or dogs or infants or whatever

Catch and release makes sense with the mouse I found living in my AC in Northeastern USA. Not in Australia, with an invasive species like mice. But part of what she said made sense- the Australian government should have been spreading birth control (sterilization) pesticides/baits and other population control methods decades ago.

They advocate for controlling plagues by using the quickest and most humane killing methods that don’t affect other animals. They wanted the gov to step in earlier just like farmers did too. Why does SkyNews continually lie?

I am an operationalist, action driven, farmers functions the same too. Here in SA, we are continually taught to have a say and influence in policy and decision making one has to hold a seat at the table where decisions are made that affects you and your community.

Let's not be stupid about this - PETA doesn't turn any animal away thus, every animal that comes to them cannot be homed and sadly will have to be euthanised.
The shelters that are "no kill" have the luxury of only taking in the animals they have room for, the rest (96.4% of them) are turned away instead of being euthanised and simply go on to another shelter that does euthunise animals.
It isn't PETA that's the problem, this is the fault of people that breed these animals and the people whom abandon them. PETA and the rest of the animal shelters are just left to clean up the mess.
The breeders and the owners get to dump their animals without any problem to themselves, they don't have to try and find homes or pay for boarding kennels or even pay for euthanasia, they simply dump them at a shelter and leave it for someone else to clean up their mess!!

It would be loading a truck full if grain for people and livestock, but the silo was so full of mice that they were most of what came out. If you use live mouse traps and release them outside, do this one thing. Put a paint spot on the backs of the mice you catch and release. You’ll find you’re catching and releasing the same mice over and over.

Even if you killed every one you caught instead of marking them, You could do that all day every day for the rest of your life and the numbers would still increase because when their is that many they breed faster than you can kill them. That is why they are in this situation in the first place. The only solution now is find something that the mice are super attracted to and fill that PETA cuntz house with it.

This might also work on that pesky feline problem as well. If you can get their birth rates below their mortality rates, eventually you'll be rid of the problem.
WebCoLocal, why go through the trouble of decorating the mice? If you've got a bunch of them in a live catch trap, just lower that trap into a pond or even a big bucket for about 5 or 6 minutes. Problem solved. You can incinerate the bodies are toss them out for the vultures. Happy, healthy vultures are a good thing. They are nature's janitors.

I can, it is possible, tip traps with relocations to limbo, just make sure there is plenty of water in the few thousand buckets you need incase they get thirsty.

These vegan ideas that they promulgate with regard to mice such as saying that the mice should not be denied food because of the "dangerous notion of human supremacy" are becoming increasingly popular among kids. Some ex-con who earns a living pushing veganism gives talks to little kids in schools. This is the face of the modern vegan movement. It ain't rational but you might need to get used to it. The ones who have volunteers wear horror movie axe murderer masks and hold up screens in public places of gory scenes involving animals with a spokesperson ready to try and recruit passerbys into veganism were getting $1.5million per year from one donor alone until they refused to be accountable for the spending. The same donor also funds and continues to fund an ex con who promotes veganism and states on a recent RUclips that putting on a ski mask, breaking and entering and stealing people’s animals is what animal activists do while he condemns an ex-vegan influencer for not doing so. With lots of money and increasing manpower by converts these crazy ideas are getting legs. If your kid talks about going vegan they aren't just talking about a diet. It comes with these crazy ideas as baggage.

Ultimately though you can't help wondering if they will destroy us if they predominate. Having a thousand genders isn't the way to reproduce our species. Letting mice eat the crops isn't the way to get fed. I anticipate that Sir Glubb's essay will be interesting and wonder if it predicts a total downfall.

I love animals and I used to donate a monthly amount to Peta here in England. I trusted that the money would be used for the relief of animal suffering, and I'm sure other donors have the same expectation. However, I cancelled my donation when I saw their CEO appear on a t.v. interview telling us , the public, that we should not be using verbal expressions such as 'dirty pig' or using the word 'catty' for someone nasty etc. She also made patronising comments that we should not call each other names, and that we should all try being nice to each other instead. This made my blood boil. This Woke nonsense was a complete waste of donors' money. Instead of using the interview to promote the welfare of animals, she spent the interview time lecturing us all on good manners and genteel speech.
I wrote to her and told her why I was cancelling my donation. I, of course, received no reply. But Peta kept sending me pamphlets and appeals for money. I wrote to a more local branch and told them to stop sending me their literature. PETA are a disgraceful organisation who spend more time and money on virtue signalling than on care for animals.
And I bet the ceo earns millions.🙄
I'm afraid the sad reality is that most animal charities have absolutely no understanding of the animal world, (which is exactly the same one we inhabit), and appear only interested in being part of some glorified propaganda machine.
Take the green party, (yes I know it's a political entity), who think that bull fighting is perfectly acceptable, or the WWF who happily spend millions on "saving" one Elephant while cosying up with the Countries leaders, who are allowing the poaching to continue.

PETA were talking about catch n release for a city house with one mouse not rural plagues. They advocate for controlling plagues by using the quickest and most humane killing methods that don’t affect other animals. They wanted the gov to step in earlier just like farmers did too. Why does SkyNews continually lie?

You need to spray food with laxative and leave it for the mice they will be dead within days they dehydrate and die. I had rats in my loft i threw chocolate laxative up there and within 2 days i heard silence they where dead.
Send PETA people to these farms in Australia and let them live with the rats and mice. They need to cash a reality check.
Peta is fine with putting down tens of thousand of animals every year when they think they shouldn't live. Maybe PETA should go there and catch them themselves and re release them on their own dime.

From someone who has rescued dozens and dozens of animals over the years, and also had a resident rat - I suppose YOU would call it a rat infestation - issue. They lived in my attic for decades, and in my yard. I realized it was my fault that I had bird feeders and animal feed out that attracted rats, and stopped this. And also when I had my roof replaced, the rats departed, and then we replaced the roof and made sure to seal off all areas that rats or mice could enter.

To "catch" would be an unrealistic impossibility and the only viable "release" location would be somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Is PETA concerned about the poor little COVID viruses? I live in the United States of America and I had to get a hold of PETA a few years ago and I discovered that they were in Toronto Canada. I needed to get information on the ASPCA organization she didn't know anything about it absolutely done with the box of rocks. I called them in New York and it was a recording of police department and to what particular part of New York Long Island whatever you have back there so I would suggest that anybody that reads this message to look up P.E.T.A give them a call and ask them if they know who the ASPCA because these people are money collectors reading from script

Why aren't the activities going there to help the farmers? They should either go over there, live there to help out or just shut up and don't sprinkle salt onto the poor farmer's wounds. It's always easy to preach their high morals without having to going through the real devastation themselves.

4. Rodents can be used as war weapon by letting dropped on enemy land by plane
5. Rodent can be dropped in all terrorist and pirates hide place to give them vacate these places
6. Rodents can be used for polar bear, sea lion, otters food
Let these be caged and open it out at desired place.
