Are you looking for team bonding games? Take a look at this one! In this exercise, the team members give each other feedback by handing out cards with characteristics. This makes it easier for the group to give and to receive feedback. Try it out! 🙏
#TeamBuildingGames #Feedback #Communication
Do you like this exercise? Let’s give these variations a try:
1. Make sure the exercise is practiced playfully and everyone feels safe. You can do this by sometimes making a joke during the exercise. When the team feels comfortable and safe, they are more likely to see it as a game rather than something very serious. A lighthearted atmosphere will encourage more honesty from the people who give the feedback and more openness of the people receiving the feedback.
2. You can also let everyone write just positive characteristics on the papers that they put in the hat. This way the team creates a positive atmosphere.
Can’t get enough of this exercise? In my new book you will find more variations. Plus 100 other team building exercises, including:
• Extensive explanations
• Multiple variations
• The outcome of each exercise
• And a QR code linked to the corresponding video

This sounds like a great way to destroy bonds and team trust and humiliate coworkers.
Why do you think it will destroy team trust?
I agree. Especially the "negative" feedback. People do not take criticism well. Maybe if they anonymously gave others feedback it would be better.
@@shannonzickefoose8243 Yes, if people in the team don't take criticism well, you can also let the negative characteristic out of the game and only play with positive characteristics :)
I was thinking the same thing. The people I work with would be highly offended by a negative comment - even if it's constructive. Family too - I'd leave that part out.
@@cindys2995 Yes, you are right. Sometimes I think it is better to leave that part out. I was thinking you can also do a second round in which everyone gives each other a positive card of which they think the person who you give it to can use this characteristic a bit more. This way it is still feedback about something someone can improve upon, but in a more positive way. What do you think? Is that still too offensive?
I think another way to do this to reduce friction is to ask each person to write 2 positive traits and 1 dislike, fold it into two and write the name of the person it's meant for. All papers should be collected and put in a box. Then each person should come out to pick the paper and give it to the person whose name is written on it. While the receiver should read out only the positive trait and keep the dislike to themselves as a reflection point.
Hi Anazodo, thank you for this great variation :)
This will certainly reduce friction and I am sure our subscribers love putting this variation into practice!
Thank you. such a simple yet powerful activity

Sure! Thanks
Hi! I'd love to use this as an Icebreaker Game. Do you think we could just give 2 positive and 1 negative card to make it shorter? Also, would it be possible to go member by member clockwise so everyone has the chance to take/give a card instead of just jumping to whoever gets the card? Thanks!
Miriam Lorenzo Yes, I love your variations. Thank you do much! :)

Can you imagine someone telling you why they think you are arrogant or insecure in front of others... Not good
Hi Elizabeth, thank you for your feedback. Yes, I agree, for some groups that might be not good. In that case you can also let them play the game only with positive traits. That might be better :) I hope you enjoy my other team building videos!
This is so cool
I'm happy you like it, Damion. Feel free to share the channel with your friends and colleagues! :)
how can this activity impact the parents raising kids with disabilities? or would you recommend this as an team bonding activity for them?
Hi Jose, yes, you can always use it as a team bonding activity. If you want to do an exercise specifically for parents raising kids with disabilities, I would advice you to come together with the parents and share experiences by asking each other questions.
Hye, indeed an interesting game. However, may I know the strengths, limitations and recommendation required for this game?
Hope to hear soon. Thank you.
Hi Eswary, Thank you for your comment and question. The strengths for this game is that each person gets insight of how the others see him. This way he can become aware of his own strengths and of things he can improve upon regarding to others The limitations of this game is that you can't do it with a very large group because than each person gets so many cards that he can't oversee it. So groups of maximum 10 persons is recommend. The recommendation for this game is that you always have to play it in a very safe environment. When the atmosphere is the group isn't that safe, please remove the 'negative characteristic' part, and only play with 'positive characteristics'. I hope you will enjoy this exercise!
Hey there..Thank you so much for the feedback. Will take into account.Thank you and have a great day ahead.
You're welcome. Have a great day too! :)
I think it is better to avoid as much friction as possible. When someone thinks something about you which you feel is incorrect, it will cause unnecessary friction. Better to have only positive traits discussed.
Hi Said, Thank you for your suggestion. Yes, I agree. Sometimes it is better to play the game just with positive traits :)
How can I get ideas on how to give feedback as a trainer?

Wonderful
Glad you like the exercise! :)
What's the moral lesson or learning of this game??
Hi Alex, thank you for your question. The learning of the game is that you get to know what other people think of you. What they like and what you can improve upon. There are multiple variation you can use to make the exercise fit your goals. You can find them in these comments ad below the video. Good luck! :)
Hi, your idea is great. Do you have any idea on how this activity will going to be a helpful way to develop diversity in the workplace?
Hi Alliyah, thank you for your comment :) At the end of the exercise, you can tell the group that looking at all the traits in front of them, they can see how diverse the group is. Everyone has different characteristics which will make people unique in their own way :)
This content is remarkably influential. A book I delved into with similar themes immensely altered my perspective. "A Life Unplugged: Reclaiming Reality in a Digital Age" by Theodore Blaze
I don't the negative cards would be good with young children who need to build confidence
yes, I agree :)
If the team members are writing the characteristics, won't there be a possibility of large number of duplicate characteristics?
Manish Mohan Thanks for you comment! Yes, that can be the case, but that doesn’t matter. It can be the case that the same characteristics will be devided to different persons. Or maybe one person will get the same characteristic multiple times :)
Hmm, Very nice game! i will surely use this.! Thanks!
hmm, I wonder what else can we name this game?
Thanks, have fun playing it :) Let me know how it went!
Hmm. good question. Maybe you can call it: 'Give a card!'? Do you have any suggestions? :)
@@Teamexercises Can help me formulate the objective of the game? Help me complete this for me: "AT THE END OF THE GAME, PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ABLE TO ____________" Thanks is advance!
@@Teamexercises I have decided to call it " TRAITS TREAT" .. lol What do you think? :)
Christian Rey Amaneo good one! :) How about ‘Trade a Trait’?
@@christianreyamaneo6205 AT THE END OF THE GAME, PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ABLE TO.. explain in a clear and constructive way what they think of the characteristics of their co-workers. And also know what their co-workers think of their characteristics and why.
Do you have that exersice like Odd Couple like peanut butter jelly salt and pepar
Never heard of it. I'll look into it and maybe will. make a video about it! :)

Odd Couples
On any team, you'll have people with different personalities. But sometimes, these different personalities actually have things in common. Getting these team members to appreciate their differences and similarities can improve team bonding.
Number of participants: 6-20 people
Duration: 45-60 minutes
Objective: Improve team bonding and communication skills
How to play
1. Create a list of odd pairs of objects that, for some reason, go well together. Like "Peanut butter & jelly", "chocolate & coffee", "salt & pepper", etc.
2. Write down the names of objects from each pair on separate sheets of paper.
3. Tape a sheet of paper to a participant's back. Do this for all participants. Try to tape opposing pairs on people with opposing personalities, though this is isn't necessary.
4. Ask participants to mingle with the group. Their objective is to figure out what's written on their backs. The trick is: they can only ask yes/no questions ("Do I add flavor to food? Do I make the food spicy?").
5. Once participants figure out what's written on their backs, they have to find the other half of their pair.
6. After they've found their pairs, participants have to find three things they share in common with their opposing pair.
This is whole exercise
super
Glad you like it! :)
I wanna ask how this game will be ended.. can someone explain me the end process of this game
You can end the game after everyone has gotten their cards. But you can also let them trade cards like in above video.

What if someone picks their own characteristic?
Thank you for your question! In that case they can just give that characteristic to someone else. It doesn't matter if it is the characteristic they choose. But if in any situation you don't want this to happen, of course you can always instruct the participants to put it back and draw another one until they draw a characteristic they didn't put in themselves.
This would only work with a group of thick skinned individuals people
You can always play the game with only positive traits :)
This won't end well.
Haha, you can play with just positive characteristics as well :)
Absolutely terrible advice.
Nothing says team building rather than judging your team mates and call them arrogant. Big dislike
Hi Ameen, thank you for your comment. You can also let the group only write positive characteristics, if you think that works better for a certain group. (see variation number 2)
You can adjust the exercise so it fits your preferences. I hope that will work for you! :)

such a toxic exercises, way to give your employees unnecessary insecurities in fron of everyone
Hi Andrea, thank you for your comment. To make the exercise more positive you can always remove the negative characteristic cards and play the game just with positive cards. This way the exercise stays positive at all times and might suit the group you are working with better.
If you have any variations of which you think that they make the exercise more positive, I would love to hear them. Thanks! :) Herman
