One translation note this time (no, I can't explain the Gutai Art Manifesto because my reaction to it is like Raden's and I'd need to do what she did to explain it to you): 5:51 O ato ga yoroshii you de (お後がよろしいようで) is a phrase usually spoken at the end of a rakugo performance when the performer is making way for the next person to come on stage. It literally means "Since the next one seems ready....(I'll be making my way out.)"
While that art may have piqued Raden's interest, the real MVP of this story was her teacher that immediately named the art piece and made her wanna be like that
Raden really shows how important art and humanities are in early childhood education, it can change peoples lives at a fundamental level,of who they are and can give a sense of direction and purpose. You could even say that without that visit, Raden would never have become the vtuber we know and love.
normal raden clipping: explaining some art advanced raden clipping: editing the video such that youtube makes the end card put your black-circle-on-white channel icon in the middle of the white-circle-on-black painting so the clip itself is art
For a long time I could never understand contemporary art. From this clip, I went and read the Gutai Art Manifesto. I can't say that I understand it all, but I feel enlightened. Let's say the 'material' said in the manifesto means 'canvas'. The main characteristic of canvas is that they have no depths or thickness, only length and width. Only because the artist uses paints and various techniques, the canvas can seemingly have depths (for example: perspective, shadow, etc.). In the manifesto, this is called as 'betraying the material.' I think Gutai Art means, "Artwork that did not manipulate the materials (the canvas and the paint) to have characteristics that they don't originally have." Don't take this seriously though, since I don't study art (except on how to draw cute anime girls).
I think "Gutai" art is making some kind of media (sculpture, painting, etc...) that which is NOT a representation of something else. You could think of it as parallel to music - most instrumental music is not a representation of sounds we hear in nature, it is the sound that only that instrument makes (usually). My argument against the manifesto would be that, no one or group can take the word of "art" and reduce it from a broad encompassing category to a narrow niche that gives only a select few people status.
She became a museum otaku because see thought it would be cool to known all the painting :D. Now I kinda want to know how she ended with all her other talents. She's one crazy talented person, she's has a rich vocabulary, has the skills of a comedian, can sing, dancer and is cultured both for oversee and in her own country.

Raden's child-like curiosity always attracts me to watch her more and more. Thanks for the clip!
Yoshihara Jiro and Raden's teacher, you are heroes.
if someday i'd get really into art, i'd say "what vtuber get me into art", and it'd be a full circle 😂
