I hope people understand that a "braid ready" spool is just a gimmick to get you to fill an entire spool with braid and waste your money. A mono backing of desired length and a mono leader of any length is the best of both worlds. No need for a swivel, uni to uni if tied properly will never fail. Also if you know how many inches your reel takes per turn you can do the math and figure out exactly how many turns of mono you need to split a spool of braid with another reel.
I wouldn’t say it’s a gimmick. I see your position on being cost effective by using mono backing. However, not everyone is concerned with the cost of braid. Particularly the Reaction Tackle braid, which is extremely cost effective. Also, a mono leader without a swivel is not ideal when targeting big catfish.
@@jigginwithjake2796a connection knot is required to use a leader longer than your rod. Would like to know how to use the bait feature. When do you turn it down?
The bait runner disengages when you reel down on a fish. Or you can disengage it manually. I prefer to disengage it manually and let the fish load the rod before reeling down on it.
Good day, can i use that for jigging?
The reel, yes. The baitfeeder option, however, would likely not be a benefit while jigging.
Only issue i have is there not strong when u reel they flex i hated that or id buy 6
I haven’t had any issues with mine. But I hear that is a common problem.
@@jigginwithjake2796 if they fixed that it would be a phenomenal reel all around
What rod do you have that reel on?
That’s the ole Ugly Stix 2 piece Catfish Special.
What size is the reel in the video
Hey Juan. That’s the 6000 series. Thanks for watching! Hope you consider subscribing!
Haven’t seen you use this in a while. Is the Sharky 3 still performing well?
It is. Just haven’t connected with anything noteworthy on those rods recently. I’ll take them next time I go out for Blue Cats. See if I can’t land a good one on the Sharky.
I have one coming up for ya.
you using it in salt water at all?
I am not. Land locked in Illinois.
I love the Sharky three I've got it and I love it I've also got some smaller ones thinking about getting the bigger bigger one Bob Elkhart I also would like to see more women out there fishing and more videos of women it's just not for men or children it for everybody
I got the kastking 5000 what be good braid or how many lbs test

What size line & length do you have on the mono spool?
I have 25# on my mono spool. I believe it holds approx 200 yards of 25#
@@jigginwithjake2796 Thanks, just discovered your channel and have been binge watching.....
Happy to hear it
Store is open! Grab some logo gear! jigginwithjakesummer.itemorder.com/shop/home/
What size fishing reel is that
6000 series
3000 is a great.
You've gotten a bait caster now haven't you?
Yeah. I added 2 Abu 6500 Catfish Specials on the Whisker Seeker 9’6” heavy.
@@jigginwithjake2796 wise. You’ll still be using those abu Garcia’s when those KK baitrunners are in the landfill. Sorry...just keepin’ it real
Love the channel... Dislike the KastKing Baitrunner and thier service department. Sent me a 6000 instead of a 5000 but left a extra spool that's a 5000 (doesn't fit the 6000 reel). Also, the reel isn't smooth... The KastKing store on Amazon isn't worth beans. Lost 50$ on this one... never again. Back to Penn and Shimano for me... Maybe I got a bad one but the company doesn't care.
Mine broke at the shank.
Sorry to hear that man. I noted that I’ve heard there were issues with the reel seat. Mine have held up good. Honestly, I think the 6000 series Sharky would hold up fine for any of the big cats I’m potentially up against. Hopefully, Kastking addresses those issue. Because, I know a lot of guys use these for surf fishing.
@@jigginwithjake2796 the 6000 is what I have
That sucks man. Sorry to hear it.
@@jigginwithjake2796 oh I love it waiting on a replacement. It's landed several trophy catfish
There ya go!
My Sharky 3 had a fail and broke!! It wasn't even used that much and I can tell you this reel has it's problems. You can check out my footage of the broken reel here.

Just landed a 32# Flathead on mine last weekend. No issues at all.
I think all products have flawed items. After all, humans make them.
@@jigginwithjake2796 Yeah I suppose a plastic body is not as durable as aluminum. The body was flexing around when I was cranking it in Lol
Out of stock for a while.
please get a rod that can that has proper guides..lol
That’s a proper rod with proper guides. You must not understand the difference between spinning rods and casting rods. Educate yourself!
But no extra spool
