What fascinates me is that, now the time had come where people across India started to recognizing Kannada artistic and literature treasure....the language which had won most Number of jnanapith award and large Number of novels.

Nothing like that. Indians who settled/ working in Bangalore know How sweet this Language. Literally Language is more than movies. Especially Kannada is close to my heart since 2008. .. People have aversion towards books and Kannadigas are quite different , They are avid readers whereas we Telugu people failed to the core.

Sandalwood actually comes from a forest called Satyamangalam which lies around the border between Karnataka and Tamilnadu although geographically it falls under Karnataka. The infamous dacoit and smuggler Veerappan used to smuggle sandalwood from these jungles to overseas countries. Kollywood comes from a place called Kodambakkam in Chennai. Here all the big movie studios used to be there once. AVM (still there) Gemini studios, Prasad films, Devar films etc. Pollywood comes from Punjabi language name. Ollywood from Oriya language name.

Bollywood is a name that started around 60 Years ago. I was a young man then. Mario Miranda most probably started it, in his famous Filmfare comic series which had Characters like Rajini Nimbupani as the Female star, Balraj Balram as the male star, P.Popatlal as the information of broadcasting minister and Bul Bul Brandy as the Chief Villain. The series was hilarious, and I think he called the scenario as Bollywood. I do remember when Bombay was known to copy English movies and songs, Mario produced a comic called, 'Kiloopatka" based on then famous Cleopatra and had changed MArk Anthony to 2 characters called Mark and Tony, in true Hindi movie style. Otherwise, it may have been I.S.Johar in his famous Question Box in FilmFare. But Bollywood is that old and was a satirical name.😁 BTW at time Tollywood referred to Bengali movies as they were made in Tollygunj in Calcutta. Was surprised that now it refers to Telugu movies

“Sandalwood” sounds creepy? Mr. Bhardhwaj Rangan you sounded creepy to me now. As Rakshith politely justified that Karnataka is the home for the world renowned Mysore Sandalwood it makes absolutely sense to name KFI as sandalwood. But what justification do you have for Bollywood, Tollywood, Mollywood and Kollywood? Does it sound very appealing to you other than being rhyming to Hollywood?

      indian film industry>>>>>>>
Almost all indian industries are maturing, only bollywood is left. If bollywood starts producing good films, indian films will eventually go on to become global hits. Not that bollywood hasnt made good films but its mostly generic bullshit which is thankfully failing now in the box office.
