I had heard this tune as a 'marching tune' while seeing the movie 'The Bridge on the River Kwai' for the very first time with my Serving Lieutenant Colonel father in 1984. Later, as a Cadet - and still later ; while serving for over 23 years in the Army - AND EVEN NOW as a 'retired Major', i whistle this tune whenever i have a long walk....... Can only add that i have a 35 years long association with THIS 'tune' - and it is almost a part of my life. The latest is that my eldest daughter recently sent it from Canada as my 'birthday gift'....... HATS OFF
Nice to know your bond with this tune. When I saw the movie, I was captured by this marching tune and still am. And, by seeing patches of the movie, I renewed the pleasure listening to it! Surely I am going to see it again.
I studied with Malcolm Arnold. He commissioned a number of works from me. He was a funny, talented musician. We were good friends. He told me composing the Bridge on the River Kwai score was a "nightmare". He had to arrange the Colonel Bogey march and write almost one hour of underscore in 10 days. The underscore music is brilliant. He has to be one of the best film composers of that particular genre.
One of the best interpretations I had heard so far, besides the original version from the movie Bridge over the River Kwai. Well balanced and the whisteling at the was fenomenal. Grat job. Congrats from NE Patagonia, Argentina.
I marched to this tune in 1962,bravo

I agree, it's one of the best interpretations! What is important: musicians are very young - and very talented. Piccolo was great!

The change of key surprised me, but it turned out fine.

We have the Col. Bogey march, along with Arnold's counter-melody, like in the movie. Sounds great.

Una de mis marchas favoritas. El filme uno de los mejores que he visto. Hablo de drama bélico. El otro es los cañones de navarone.

Perfect arrangement and performance - is this arrangement available at the market, e. g. Mollenaar?

Hübsche Aufnahme, jedoch leider ohne Trio.
I hope they play this foreverfor the pain and suffering they caused to my fellow comrades the evil bastards
