Highly recommend a uv filter on the 28-70. The coating on the front element is more delicate than the previous versions. It’ll scratch off super easily. Had mine for all of three days and 1 wedding in before the coating rubbed off. Sick lens though!
About your cameras freezing up. If it is the R6, i have no idea, but if it is the R6 ii, i have an idea what is going on. If you use any speedlite with the old hotshoe directly on the digital hotshoe on the r6ii, without the AD-E1 adapter, the foot of the speedlite touches the pins on the digital hotshoe and shorts up the camera, i had that happen to me. Now i have ordered the adapter and the EL5 speedlite to avoid any further damages to the camera
The R6ii is what freezes up mostly but sadly it happens all the time randomly with no commonality. Happens with or without a speedlite, with all different cards/lenses/batteries 🥲
@@LindsayCoulter I also have an R6mk ii and mine locked up on me too. When I serviced it at the local Canon authorized service, they said it happens mostly because I used the speedlite without the adapter. Now, because I had mine still under warranty, they decided to replace my whole motherboard cost free. Probably, you should have yours serviced too, if it is under warranty. It's most definitely something wrong with the motherboard.
@@andreigheorghe2709 It's the third R6 I've had with the same kinds of issues - I've swapped out one body already. Canon looked at it and said there was no problem with it, but the many videos I have of it locking up would say otherwise haha. At this point not really sure what there's left to do except switch brands 😅
@@LindsayCoulter I have to say, if you had to go through all that, and still didn't get a properly working camera, than maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea considering alternatives. You could wait for the R6 III, or change to the R5 or another good r6, or just switch systems. I don't know how many lenses and accessories you have, and how heavily invested you are in the Canon ecosystem, but if Canon doesn't make you happy, or relaxed when shooting, and there is no alternative, well than it's best to seriously consider switching, but only if you are sure, because you might not want to feel any remorse afterwards. That's my opinion. I had something similar when I was using the Nikon Z7ii. I just couldn't depend on the camera to give the the images I wanted, and I felt like I was missing so many images,(mainly because the slow AF and user interface), so I changed systems, and excepting this little problem that is being serviced, I have zero regrets.
I was sorry to hear your wife was having issues with the R6 II, so far my experiences have been great as in no problems with it at all and I shoot high speed events. I do keep it up on the latest firmware and update the lenses. Now the R5 II, I've had a few hiccups, but never during paid work, just at home when I was playing with it, it froze for a second, but that was prior to the 1.02 firmware, since then its been solid. I do know some peeps were having flawed overheating issues, which was a problem with the hardware, but I've been reliably wearing out dual batteries with the fan grip on medium recording 8kp30, and 4k fine for over 2 hours with no stoppages due to overheating (yes, the meter was almost all the way up, but batteries wore out before it actually overheated to stop recording).
I had the exact same problem with my R5 about half a year ago (in Antarctica). First, I narrowed it down (on location, far away) that it only happened when my CF was more than 50% full. So I emptied the card twice a day and it fixed the problem. Later back home I tested quite a bit and I guess the card was faulty. A new CF card fixed it - never had it again in the last 6 month.
Going to finally buy my own equipment (i was an assistant for 2 years) now starting as a wedding photographer and videographer Do you recommend i buy a cannon r5 or cannon r6 mark II ?

My colleague figured out the R6II doesn't throw the error code if you turn off auto-switching between LCD/EVF. Set switching to a custom button instead. Some weird bug... try it! Canon has been notified.
can someone link the hot shoe adapter that is needed for the canon r6mii? Totally panicking now that I am going to screw up my camera (it's been freezing up on me & about to yeet the camera too).

Great video Taylor. It is really cool to see how other wedding photographers work! Thank you!

I feel like Taylor and Tim could be like brothers or cousins or something. There is a similarity in features and in the way they speak.
Is it the constant referencing of quotes from 2013 RUclips videos

Really enjoyed watching you and Lindsay... Photos looks absolutely amazing ❤
Are you switching to Canon now? Is the R5 II your favorite camera right now? Or you still prefer you A9 III?
If canon opened up to 3rd party lenses I’d be happier with them

Wow that's a new one - I haven't heard that before! I actually wouldn't be surprised if that's my issue for some of the errors I get
Maybe this can be a solution, i will try next few days, but do you mean error code of freezing camera ?

70-200 f4 brutal even in well lit spaces?
It's not great in any indoor spaces - maybe outdoors for nature photography... but any indoor space I just found it to be way too grainy
What's the current best Canon camera for hybrid?
Best probably R5 II since it has all the new things
The one you have with you.
Hi, did you use the Control Eye AF? And if so, how was the experience?
Nah I shoot everything on the lcd
It's fine on the R3...
Did camera freeze because of memory card?
Please verify if possible?
Nope. Many different memory cards. Many different lenses. Current batteries as well

The R6 Mark 2 issue with freezing. Switch off airplane mode and don’t allow the camera to sleep. Problem solved. 👌
I had the buffer fill and lose 70 images (when I was nowhere near the buffer) - so sadly it's not just a freezing up issue
