@@97tilinfinity it's not about filling anyone shoes, that sounds a little insulting as if you're trying to say that they wanted to be like that other person. It was more so about filling the top spot as the next prominent and mega Superstar in the rap game after Biggie and Tupac got killed. But again it wasn't DMX, it was Jay-Z and Nas, because DMX fell off after the year 2000 and Nas and especially Jay-Z stayed consistent and relevant.
@@97tilinfinity not really, Jay-Z debut album came out in June of 1996 which was three months before Tupac died and his second album didn't come out till after biggie died. X is looking so much healthier! This makes me so damned happy. We need him now more than ever.
Oh My Gandhi why do we need him now more then ever ?
Should I answer, CAUSE THE RAP TODAY IS CRAP RAP, Y U DONT SEE THE DIFFERENCE, OR MAYBE U DONT care..........look around you, listen with both ears, WE NEED HIM NOW MORE THAN EVER.
“Who wants to be happy all the time” and “I am always angry” made my day. He is a real legend and I am so happy to see him looking good. I am your biggest fan DMX.
I am his biggest fan!!
No, I'm his BIGGEST FAN!
No doubt!!!
I remember meeting him in Tucson as a kid at a gas station and he was so kind and talked to us kids even though we were just random loitering. He could tell we were trying to figure out if he was DMX and he growled at us. Took a few pics with my friends and he was on his way. Lived a few towns over for years and years and was in Tucson all the time according to him. He inspired a lot of my writing too, Slippin (the greatest hip hop track ever written), Let Me Fly, etc, he was such a storyteller. Rest In Peace, you are already missed globally.

I love when people are just naturally funny. Without even trying to be, his personality was amazing.
About 'party up' he said some can dance in the club to it and others can beat people up to it. 😂😂 #RIP #legendarydmx

One of the hardest shits ever my dude! Video nuts as well
DMX was exactly what hiphop needed after Pac and Big.
He certainly carried Hip Hop, until Em and 50 took over...

@@jamarrogers2985 true, but in an old interview, he gave Jay-Z props for winning the overall feud they've had going on, since, way back when.....
Those two have been battling for years, and without really trying 'X' always got the upper hand, but Jay becoming the CEO, he made sure The Dog couldn't be left off his leash under Def Jam. X claims there's a whole album the world won't ever hear cuz of Jay, but he can't be mad, that was their thing. Some people need that competition to bring out the best version of themselves.
You can really tell that Dmx has been through a lot and has a lot to share the way he talks

When pac and biggie died. Dmx became that rapper who took over. Even though it was for a short while. Dmx revived hiphop. Dmx filled that spot. Not many rappers can do that.
Yup, him and Montell Jordan.
No, Jay Z and Nas filled that spot after Biggie and 2pac passed.
Jay-Z didn't really become a household name in hip hop until 1998 which was when his most commercially successful album Hard Knock Life came out. Nas was well-known, but wasn't commercially successful until 1996's "it was written." DMX was kind of like 50 Cent around the time he came out, there was a huge hype around him but then after the hype died down so did his career.

I didn't even notice the speed, but the music had so much energy that surely came down on the pedal ;) Workout is twice as intense with his music. I am 45 and he is truly my all time favorit. Coming up in the 90's, I had to go back and listen to the instrumental. Def cheesin' right now. I think the instrumental to Blackout off Flesh of my Flesh was one of the hardest for me.
