    • @paulallen8109
      @paulallen8109 5 лет назад

      No, YOU clearly have no clue. Read what I just replied to that clown Bruno Silva above (if you're not him). If you can take some time off your menial existence you may actually read a few contemporary tests of the Testarossa, read what young car designers thought of its (cocaine 80's pimp) look - there's a good reason those horizontal stripes never returned again, and see what Ferraris own F1 drivers thought about it when they drove it and the other Ferraris around Fiorano. Jean Alesi (heard of him?) admitted it was old and outdated and no match for Ferrari's cheaper models.
      Since you're so smaht. Why don't you inform exactly what racing the Testarossa entered and what it achieved? You're so knowledgeable. Let's hear it mr. smaht.
      "Wow! Testarossa? You have no clue!" How much brainpower can we expect from somebody who writes a 6 word "argument" ?
      You must be some kind of super genius. 6 words. Best counterargument ever.
      When you reach the mental age of 16 you might understand that in order to disprove somebody (and that goes way beyond your high school p*ssing contests) you may consider it astute to have at least some sort of argument and not just shout like a stupid kid who just lost some game online he plays for 100 hours each week.

      Why? Because he offended a braindead fanboy who never even knew these Ferrari models existed? Listen chump, if you don't believe him why don't you read what professional car magazines thought about the Ferrari 348 when it was new. They all considered it bad. It was no match against its rivals. Guess what? Luca di Montezemolo (that's the Ferrari CEO which I bet you didn't know either) even had his private 348 returned after he himself found it awful. Look it up, that's what the internet is for you chump. Finding information, not shouting like a butthurt kid losing some game.
      The Mondial mostly went to bored Arab oil sheiks. You hardly ever found any in a Ferrari meeting because it was seen as a bizarre compromise. Even Enzo Ferrari himself reportedly shrugged his shoulders and passed it for production but wasn't impressed. Btw, this was the same Enzo Ferrari who had called the Ferrari 312T4 (the 1979 world championship winning F1 car, which we BOTH know you have NEVER heard about) "the ugliest Ferrari ever made". Yes, he could be dismissive of his own cars - even those that won races. This is more than you'll ever understand kid.
      As for the others, I won't bother to school you in things you are yet too little to understand. But you'll get this lesson for free. If you want to rebuke what this guy says then come up with arguments and FACTS. Dismissing him is a fallacy called ad hominem. That's the hallmark of kids, idiots and ignoramuses who have *nothing* to say so they criticize the person.
      Do you even know where the horse on Ferrari's emblem comes from chump?

      Funny. The contemporary magazines said exactly the same thing he says here. For racing - and I do believe Ferrari pride itself in making cars that could go around racetracks fast - a high center of gravity is a BAD idea. Guess what? It was notoriously unreliable too. The one they used in the famous 80's tv series Miami Vice had a Chevy V8 transplanted into it when they shot the chase scenes. Why? Because the Chevy V8 would take the beating, the flat 12 wouldn't. Look it up yourself. And the Testarossa used cheap FIAT interior parts. The indicators and windshield wiper column came from the economy car Fiat Panda. Exactly the same. Buttons were straight from the cheap FIAT bin.
      Jean Alesi drove the 512 TR (the modified Testarossa) in the mid 90's. Jean Alesi was of course their F1 driver. Did you know that? Alesi drove it around a racetrack and he said it was no match for the cheaper F355 around Fiorano. The F355 was 2,7 seconds faster around the circuit. The journalist who rode alongside Jean Alesi reported that the door seals came loose whenever Alesi did a high speed turn and wind noise seeped through. On a premium supercar!
      Here's another thing. The Testarossa was based on the older 512BB which in turn was based on the 365GT4/BB which had debuted way back in 1971. By the early 90's this chassis was over 20 years old and incredibly outdated. Like I said, even the cheaper Ferrari models ran circles around it.
      Who should we trust? 1) Several contemporary motor journalists who slated the Testarossa when it was new (only liked the engine note), 2) the market in which the Testarossa DROPPED in price after production stopped, compared to the classic and great Ferraris who RETAINED their appeal and increased in price, 3) Ferrari OWN racing drivers who said it was old, outdated and was no match for their own cheaper models....
      ...or you. Because you say so.
      I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Arbitrary assertions (you) aren't kind of the same thing as objective facts and certainly not the same as well-funded arguments.
      Now what are your counter-arguments to his claims. What? You ran out of brainpower? Yeah, and that's why you are working at an unqualified job and will never achieve anything in life. You won't afford a decent new car, let alone a Ferrari.
      I trust professional journalists.
      I trust owners.
      I trust Ferraris own drivers.
      I trust Hollywood stunt drivers and production teams.
      Your opinion doesn't mean squat. Now flip that burger clown.

    I agree 50% on the 348 because it was really improved in the last year (1994, I think).
    I agree 25% on the F50. It will eat an F40 on a track while being about as fast in a drag race and it's even more hardcore and raw than the F40. But they should have given it closer to 600 Hp.
    I don't agree on the Mondial. Ferrari has always had a 2+2 in it's lineup and the Mondial is a good car and it's styling is actually pretty sweet, it looks much better moving on a road than pics.
    The Testarossa I agree 50%. It was also really improved in later years (512TR, 512M) and long front overhangs and wide rear-ends on cars look exotic and sick! But it was a bit of a boat, you're right.
    The real Dinos (206 and 246) are absolute legends. Nuff said.
    I agree 50% on the 308 GT4. In person it actually has some really nice angles and look at other cars from the early to mid 70s like a god-awful 1974 Mustang. How sick would a 308 GT4 look compared to most other cars in the mid 70s?

    You are so right about the 348, I had one. It was trying to kill me all the time. When it was dry, it was like driving in the wet, when it was wet, it was like driving in ice! It was also steel and VERY heavy with no driving aids at all and the back always wanted to be at the front. The door sills were so wide you needed half a car space to open the door wide enough to get in and the top trim on the door sills was a mild steel plate painted satin black and secured with small screws and adhesive. Water would get in between these plates and the body, and on mine, there was no primer under the satin black so the paint lifted and the trim plates got rusty. The adhesive used was so strong that they couldn't be removed without destroying them.
    Sadly I also had a Mondial 8QV, not very fast, but you could take 2/3 friends with you. Also mild steel body and very heavy.
    Best all round Ferrari is the 360, traction control, ABS, aluminium body, fast, easy to drive with one hand, reliable, sensible price on the second hand market, still looks good.

Mondial is one of the last Ferrari's made while Enzo was still alive and they aren't making any more. The 308 Dino was $60,000AU ten years ago, now there fetching $120,000AU. Mileage is NOT an issue for owners, for the higher mileage cars tend to be faster and the cars that are driven, brake down less and are constantly maintained. Cars that sit go bad...Given the exact same "condition" I would take the higher mileage car every time. Replacing seals on a Ferrari engine is very, very expensive.

    • @mrjohnnyk
      @mrjohnnyk 5 лет назад

      People who can actually afford a Ferrari have come to love the California. It has one of the last great NA Ferrari V8's and arguably the best engine they ever made as far as ownership goes. It is probably their most reliable and well rounded engine, and being in the front makes it easy to work on. The problem with the mid-engine cars is how you usually need to take the engine out of the car in order to do work on them, which makes them very expensive to work on. With the California it's about as easy as working on a Corvette.
