Saw them live today opening for GNR and became a fan instantly! A real good band live and the lead singer is hybrid of Steven Tyler-William Dafoe with lot's of energy and can sing very well live!
I can think of the reasons.. they broke out to the mainstream when nu-metal and pop punk ruled the rock scene ('99), before the throw back/garage rock acts such as the White Stripes, Strokes, Vines, Hives, Jet, Darkness, took it over ('02-'03).. it didn't help matters that BC broke up by that time... they came back by the time that scene was past it's peak.
