Suggestion, during the intro when you are explaining the differences in the types of breaks , showing a quick picture or clip of each type as you speak would be helpful.
I've just finished making a slightly improved brake by Shed Built and love it. I've also been lucky enough to be given some Trumpf CNC Press tooling for up to 2.5mm material so I'm working on another press brake that will use these with linked bottle 18T bottle jacks and weights on the side via a pulley system to lift the black after bending.
Hi Lucia, I like a woman who is not affraid to do anything constructive. However I am sure you are also a good mom. I have used a couple of different brakes. I miss the days of working with sheet metal and other building trades. I have to tell you this story. I was cutting some 26 gage on the sheer for cleats to connect and lock duct-work together at the HVAC shop I worked at. A friend I have not seen in years came in and was surprised to see me working there commented on how fast I was cutting the "blanks". He said it looked like I knew what I was doing, I did not miss a beat and with a "poker face" held up my right hand with my baby and ring finger folded in so he could not see them, and said, yah, I need to slow down some times. The shock on his face was in tune with his good heart and I had to smile and show him my "missing fingers" and he was a little relieved as he almost kicked me for pranking him. What a great laugh we had and I still have 30 years later.
The 1st and last finger brakes you featured are ideal in my opinion. The versatility of a pan and box brake are worth the added cost and heavier larger footprint. Thanks for featuring these great designs👍
Rat Rods For Africa has a simple but efficient homemade brake. I am in the process of building the one that shop teacher guy built. It has nice blueprints! Thank you! This was a good video!!
One sheet metal brake I admire is the Australian MAGNABEND. A clever and versatile piece of equipment, and not that difficult for the do-it-yourselver to fabricate his- or her- self! The original designer discussed on how to make various sizes in the home work shop. For the greatest versatility the complex bending leaf hinges are required; standard hinges will also work but limit the usefulness somewhat. Always wanted to build a small one but but but life got in the way.
I just looked it up; thanks. You're right, it does look like a great brake with a lot of features. Let me know if you know of any videos of people making homemade versions of it.
Just checked them out. That's a pretty brilliant design. I could imagine a sliding hinge design that could work as well, though much more heavy duty and expensive to make
I made a break one time out of 2x4s and used framing squares for the knife edges so the metal would break cleanly. It was so long ago I don't even remember why I was bending sheet metal. Most recently I was in a hangar and a windowpane fell out of one of the doors when I closed it. I was the only one there at the end of the day and didn't want to leave the door with the pane missing. There was a fabrication shop set up in the hangar for the hvac guys so I had a full metal fab shop the ducting guys had set up there. I found a piece of metal in the garbage that already had been bead rolled in an X pattern and I cut the edges on the shear then bent the edges to the exact dimensions of the glass pane on the break and pressed the metal into the opening. Couple screws and that door had a temporary opaque window ( the doors were destined to be replaced). I gotta say, doing that quick fabrication was the most fun!
she is not a real person, she is a computer generated image....the English is too good , the script is too good , image is just right ..... or fit for purpose ....it doesn't add up
Along with what dathat555 said, it would be helpful if you didn’t talk so quickly. I have a hard time understanding what you are saying, with your accent.
I borrowed a 10’ wide brake to bend .062 aluminum sheets. I was unable to bend long sheets as I had no way to anchor the brake to the concrete floor of my home garage. The entire brake would lift off the floor whenever I raised the lever to bend the aluminum. It was frustrating.
Good evening Lucia, if you have time, check out One Eye Customs on RUclips for some pretty interesting ideas on shop organization and some custom fabrication. Thanks Doug
Thanks for the mention legend! Good work compiling all these amazing designs, I have a lot of inspiration now for v 2.0 :)
The best and nicest teacher in the World. Greetings from the old Pipeline welder . Andi
I could lissen to your voice all day. Very informative.

That's a good point. Noted for future videos.
Lots of good ideas here, thanks for this introduction.

Thanks Lucia, this has given me several ideas and introduced me to a couple channels I wasn't aware of!
Thank you Lucia :)
Your build is really cool😉👍

You are woesome.,, Congratulations and thank you so much for showing us your wonderful work.
Thanks for the mention on my homemade brake!
You bet! Thanks for the excellent build.
I came from Lucia’s channel.
This was really cool, ready to see more.
Good Job
Thanks! Lucia did a great job. And you'll be seeing more.
More of this! Great video idea!
Thank you! We have more in the works.
I made a small hand brake before but I got some good tips to improve my next build from this video . Thanks much for sharing

That was good fun....I admit, my vote goes to the brake that was making the pans. tHanks for the video
Good work and looking lovely

new channel?
Thumbs up!
i like your almost "scientific" descriptions!
Note:- at 4:32, they are NOT castors, they are simply wheels. Castors allow the wheel to turn/spin on its mounting.
Hey, I was beginning to think I was the only person on the planet that understands the difference. Still, a good video.

Értem én , hogy így nemzetközi , de Oroszul természetesebb volt !
