Rivalry games, especially within a city, let alone a city block, carry a special significance. Glad to see this derby back and hopefully it will be a regular fixture on the schedule for years to come.
Canadian here. I was in Dundee seeing United vs Spurs in the summer of 1980. United won 4-1. Fond memories of Scotland.

This is why the SFA must review their stupid league structures i.e. 12-10-10 etc!
Making the SPL an 18 team league will give us the Dundee derby,Edinburgh derby,Glasgow derby etc,every year as these are part of the fabric of the game up in Scotland!
+Sky will then give the clubs more TV contract money,if they created a league with more quality games like this and they can spend some of that dosh on Youth-development,ultimately benefitting the national team!
Definitely agree. The unfortunate thing is sky will always prioritise the OF games and if they don’t have 4 to put on tv they will push the SFA against an 18 team league

Was thinking this yesterday, imagine Scottish football with more guaranteed derby days, and then you'll have teams from and around Fife playing the Dundee, Perth, Edinburgh, and other sides more often also... be class for the game in Scotland.

as an Aberdeen fan its great to see the Dundee Derby back in the Scottish Premiership as it does do Scottish football a world of good, what puzzled me was that the stand behind the goal is usually part of the away support as well but it was Dundee Utd fans that were in there for this game so is this a new thing could any Dundee Utd fans clear that up for me as usually us Aberdeen fans get that stand behind the goal and the stand that the Dundee fans were in, but anyway Sam i just want to say a massive thank you and i can probably speak for all Scottish football fans here we are very grateful at what you do for Scottish football and how u are getting it back on the map not just the Scottish premiership but all leagues even down to the lowest leagues in Scotland, you really are a decent and genuine guy and you deserve to be rewarded at every game you go to by getting a media pass as the work you do is amazing and the amount of money you personally have to spend on fuel, food, hotels etc is alot of money so i just want to say thank you again and hopefully i will meet you one day, take care and stay safe mate, Stuart from Aberdeen
Think it’s gonna depend on allocation of tickets in regards to demand mate, think like yourselves, hearts, Celtic and the Rangers more space would be afforded! Maybe the derby allocation was a dig at the dark blue half of Dundee

Not always, Aberdeen had the exact same allocation as Dundee's when they visited in November 2001

Another underrated derby that I recommend you to experience one day would be Universitatea Cluj vs CFR Cluj. But make sure you see it at Universitatea's stadium as it is much newer and nicer, altho it has a running track
United v Aberdeen at both Tannadice and Pittodrie are always big attendances with a great atmosphere so worth checking one out, especially if you can get in or near the away end when Utd go there, maybe the Richard Donald lower

@@brentton2 Yeah there are non-league grounds that are closer in Aberdeen and Inverurie but I can't think of any in full-time football that are closer than on Tannadice Street.
