I want to do my own loft conversion on my bungalow watching your videos has taught me that I can do a DIY loft conversion on my bungalow.
I learned the hard way how invaluable hoovering the laths first is. Ended up having to redecorate the landing
It's not much fun to work with! Thanks for watching 👍
Wow..the amount of things you can do is amazing.
You mean the amount of things I have a go at? 'Do' is a strong word 🤣. Thanks for the feedback.
@@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE Da Iawn!
Just buying a victorian terraced property and always wanted to do my own loft conversion. Watching your videos has given me a step by step guide on the things I was unsure about, especially the staircase! Definitely going to give it a go now, cheers!
Just bear in mind building regulations (if you are doing it as a habital room) as they are getting tighter so headroom can be an issue on some properties by the time you've added bigger joists and thick insulation. Best of luck with it.
Really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing 👍
No problem 👍
Was hoping I could see this one, nice work 👍
Thanks, hope you enjoyed 👍
Been waiting for this video. Love your videos
Thanks for the kind words Terry and thanks for watching 👍
Top job once again Mr Pouse!!! Love the detail you go into in your vids explaining things helps me understand how things are done. Nice one. But slightly disappointed there wasn’t a ‘tata farewell’ 🤣
Thanks for the feedback. Plenty of time for more ta ta, farewells! 👍
Top Job Pouse!!! And this video will prove invaluable (as will the rest of the Loft Conversion ones) when I come to do my own hopefully this autumn. As promised I will also email you photos of the Bathroom conversion once it's finished. There's been a bit of a stall whilst I was away working! Keep the videos coming, they're a tremendous help. 👍
Thanks for the feedback and good luck with your projects 👍
Mate, your stairs look ace! Great vid as usual. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you like them, as one viewer said it reminds them of Labyrinth. All I need now is a mullet and a crystal ball!
U done a great job there pal, I have just fitted my stairs too the attic a few weeks ago.its easier ordering the stairs from a company than trying too make them urself. There's always little fiddley bits too work out when fiitng them. Looks good.keep up the good work...
Thanks for the feedback Daniel. My walls aren't square, floor isn't flat, it was a pain in the arse! Hope yours went well. Thanks for watching 👍
Very good job mate. I want to do my loft in London but the traders are all busy!!
Thank you. Best of luck with your project and thanks for watching 👍
Wow, really looking smart mate. I am In the middle of doing fake paneling with dado rail up the stairs and round on to landing. Also replacing hand rail and spindles on landing including newel post and half newel post. So your calculations for spindles will be very helpful.
Hope it goes well. You'll prob be finished by the time I upload that video! You may have noticed, I'm a bit slow on the uploads! Best of luck with it and thanks for watching.
A great job Mr Pouse.
Thank you.
First! It's been awhile! Where's Papa Pouse?
Not enough room in that space for 3 of us! Thanks for watching 👍
What’s the first newel post resting on ?
The bull nose step is set into the post (cnc machined) which allows the weight to be transferred through the step which is thick plywood. But in later vids you'll see I extend the landing floor slightly under the post also. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching 👍
hi great vid. I know every staircase is going to be different but how much did that cost you from stairbox?
About £1100 including additional posts and spindles for the landing. Hope that helps.
DIY Job.
Indeed it is!
Couple of things. 1. Good grief you look old. 2. Why is it all taking you so long? 3. Nice Brad nailer at the end. Real smart piece of kit. When did you get that🤔?!
1. You'll always look older. 2. Because I had you to help me. 3. You tell me, its yours. Prat!

Great job Mr Pouse. Just a couple of questions please. What size masonry screws did you use into securing staircase into the wall and were the holes already pre drilled into the side of the staircase by the stair manufacture. Thanks. Keep up the great vids.
I can help here! They were 7.5mm by about 80mm, maybe 100. We drilled the holes in the Stair case but they were under the stairs so weren't seen. Pre-drill with a 6mm wood drill bit. Run a long masonry drill straight through and into the masonry to the depth required. Then ran the screws in. Very important to remember to pack / shim the Stair case so you don't pull it out if shape.

Thanks for the feedback 👍. Hopefully Big Pouse answered your question.
Hi Pouse, does building control mind how long it takes for the conversion to be done? I.E if I built the shell first, but didn't build the stairs for another 6 months. Many thanks
Best check with your local officer, but mine were happy to check things as and when they were done. Although it's been finished for ages, I haven't actually submitted my electrical certs for final sign off yet so hope it's still valid!
Good day pouse. I am looking to do my loft in the very near future and was wondering if I can hire you or can you come around and give me some ideas. I have nil skills in DIY, unfortunately
bit of a silly question...You know where the bottom of the stairs cut a corner in front of the door frame on your 1st floor...Is that ok with building regs?
If you mean where it juts out onto the landing? Yes it's ok, but always speak to building control as they all have slightly different take on things, and it's in the context of your home which are all different. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Just realised you meant the underside of the stairs, Again, it's down to the height and how far its cuts across. Check with building control if in doubt. Or if you're not doing it through building control then it's up to you I guess!
What was the measurements for stairs?
Tread wedge is supposed to support the riser also…..
Well stairbox supplied the wedges and the risers are screwed in anyway so solid.
What do you use to cover up the under stair to become like the one in ruclips.net/video/A7MxoBztFNU/видео.html ?

I plan to do a conversion of sorts and am loving your videos! Just thought I'd just jump on stairbox to see what the price would be for a staircase. Imagine my shock to see they're about 2 miles from where I live! That's an added bonus!
I wouldn't fancy trying to fit a set of stairs in the car though! Best of luck with it.
