He really changes his swing in 97-98. He stopped the lumber Jack two handed hack and started being more smooth with the one hand follow through. The first part of the highlights were poor Jim Abbott getting punished repeatedly.
Say what you want about the steroid era in MLB but everyone was taking it, pitchers, catchers' everyone. So it wasn't a huge advantage for guys like McGwire and Canseco like they said there was. Not only was everyone using but it made the game better and a lot more fans started coming to games cause they wanted to see huge home runs. If you look at the people in the stands from the 80s compared to the 90s and early 2000s it was a huge difference in attendance. Good players started making really good money and the owners were making a lot more money. Say what you want but steroids turned baseball around for the better. Now it's at the boring stage again with the exception of a few really good guys.
McGwire has to have the record for most longest home runs all time. He never just cleared the fence. They were all at least 10 rows deep. Idgaf about roids, dude was entertaining in a boring sport.
He had a beautiful swing. I remember his teammates on Cardinals wanted him to swing his hardest in practice. They said he didn’t swing his hardest but more balanced and quick. They wanted to see if he can hit it father but he hated showing off haha
I have often shook my head at people who say the A's play in a small market. If that's correct, then what does that say about the san francisco giants? The A's, giants, 49ers, and golden state warriors all play in the same market. Go figure!
Mullet McGwire was my guy. Wasn't much to root for from 1993 to 1996 as an A's fan. Mullet McGwire was at the top of that list.
Roid Mac was sure a steroid home run king!
Ok dude we get it he was on roids 1 out of hundreds of players lmao.
@@ogskywalker5669 Mark McRoid the true steroid home run king
MCGwire & Griffey, jr. lost about 6 seasons to injuries...if not for bad health, they'd both have around 800 HR's.
This is great! Thank you! What a hitter Mac was.

I was going to say the same thing. With the Cardinals he always let go with one hand and the ball seemed to go even farther
Okland Coliseum looked like a well kept stadium
When ownership still cared
Most prolific home run hitter of all time. Definitely the 🐐 as far as home runs are concerned.

saw a couple new HR for Mac in this that werent posted by bash brothers link. thanks
It's funny to see this. I see sterling Hitchcock all the time. Now I'm gonna have to mention big mac taking him yard lol
See him where?

@Delightfully Charming stop it dude you was one of those that was rooting for him to break Roger Maris record dude cut it out
They just juiced the balls again. There were more homers in 2018 than any other year. Your comment makes no sense.

Homeruns are boring.
The Coliseum before Stupid Mt. Davis!! 🤦🏻♂️
And as the highlights progress, seeing that monstrosity being built..ugh!

The last game I saw at that dumpster fire of a stadium was Ohtani's pitching deebutt.
There must be 50 homers in this video and I only see about 8 that went less than 400 feet.
And even those were like straight up in the air like a pop up haha

True.... except for #62 which barely cleared the fences
Nice to see a couple against Clemens --since he struck him out about 90% of the time.
Why does his swing look so effortless?

Nobody ever hit home runs the way Mac did
Dear Jim Abbot. Love your cheese..
??
@@paleo704 Watch who he hits a few of those homer’s off of.
He didn't need roids
He didn't need the heart disease as a result of using roids
I loved watching him hit.
And these "experts" wasn't calling the A's small market between 1988 and 1992 when they averaged 30 to 35 thousand a game. 3rd in the American league.
Ma Ga Wire

Look at how small he is, Teenage McGwire, right?
Mullaroid to the rescue
He was good but I like more Canseco
He killed Toronto
Hit a bunch off Jim Abbott
Why he retire ? Way ahead of the game The Juice it's the same stuff they feed to the cows? Go grab some #Juice
