  • Horses can build up tension in the upper part of their hind end, which can restrict their range of motion. When that's the case, it can be really uncomfortable for the horse to have the Leg Release technique done without first relaxing those upper muscles. That’s why it’s important to help release tension in the major muscles of the hind end, as well as the sacroiliac joint, before attempting the Hind Leg Releases. You can do this by using the Hind End Point Techniques. There are six key points you can focus on:
    ▪️ Under the Tail Points
    ▪️ Sacroiliac Point
    ▪️ Hip Joint Point
    ▪️ Pelvic Point
    ▪️ Stifle Point
    ▪️ Pubic Symphysis Point
Go to the next video to see exactly where those points are: • The Masterson Method: ...
As Jim shows in the video, another way to help your horse release tension is by gently asking him to unload the leg and let it rest. Place one hand on one of the points and the other on the hip, and gently encourage relaxation. Watch the video to see how subtly and softly this should be done.
