With the benefit of hindsight we can now really appreciate what a special player Vermuelen was. Currently none of the incumbent 8's can match his physicality and jackling prowess. Gone are the days when we could watch Duane bump off 3 tacklers and gain 20m at the same time. He would have to be in the top 3 best ever Springbok 8s.
I think the springboks are in a good place with willie out back, pollard in the middle and siya up front. 3 very capable men, all organizing their areas well. Not often there is that level of field vision happening at the same time
