Gelli print tutorial birds' nest with natural materials

Step by step tutorial showing how to make a birds' nest print with your gelli plate, using natural grasses, leaves, feathers and cut out shapes. Great for easter card making. I use Matisse structure paints for the base layer and flow paints for the top layer. This design was inspired by Alice-ART • Alice-ART Gelatine-Dru... - she is amazing! My technique uses a ghost print rather than layers to get the textures of the natural materials. Hope you enjoy!

Could you tell me more about the type of paper you used to take the print? How heavy is your paper? I like heavier paper because you can work it, paint on top of it, etc. but the heavier the paper, the less it picks up your paint.

Hi Vonalda this was 180gsm smooth card (liviano brand). I find that it picks up paint well and the smooth surface is great for detail. I'd just avoid anything too textured.
