Apologies for the lower than normal quality audio on this video. We had a microphone issue that day that didn’t become clear until the edit phase. We’ve resolved the issue so it shouldn’t happen again 🤞
Interestingly electric minis have been around since the sixties, with BMC building some prototypes. Back then they were powered by lead acid batteries, which took up all the space of the rear seats and they were a lot slower than this one today. There are some videos about them on RUclips, one where you can see two of them in action is called "1966: The latest ELECTRIC CARS | BBC News | Retro Transport | BBC Archive" if you are interested in that sort of stuff.
Interesting use of B-Roll footage driving around Melbourne. Besides the obvious Yarra Trams 4:34 is the round about next to Queen Victoria Market. On the other side of the world to Fellten.
I remember lots of mini's having the wheels sticking out like this it was usually 165 /70/R10 I think. It's funny how a little bit of plastic made it legal. Almost all my friends who upgraded the wheels had them sticking out.
I’d absolutely love one of those 911s with a decent electric set up, 200 mile range and about 250bhp would be perfect for me…..especially as a targa top. I’m just one lottery win away from

@ because you have taken one of the icons of motoring history. The first transverse engine and gearbox vehicle and destroyed the engineering genius that created it. For the miles that a classic mini does each year and the time it has been around it has more than paid for its carbon footprint and then some. This abomination is now full of lithium batteries and technology which is yet to stand the test of time. I say again it’s ruined. The builders have committed a crime against the motoring heritage of this once great nation
Amazing work Fellten 👍👍
We agree! Dream city car, right?
Mr. Bean would cause absolute chaos in this!😆
No Robin Reliant would be safe
Unfortunately, Rowan Atkinson has bought into the anti-EV FUD, so he probably wouldn't drive one.
Nonsense with a mini the engine is juist a means to an end. Electric drive train makes sense especially in small light cars like this.
Would you take this classic conversion over a new Mini Electric?
@@cinch Absolutely. I never liked the new mini.
@@cinch Hell yes
Now this is absolutely stunning!!!! yes please!
Is this your dream city car?
Strange audio , wheels aren't being completely covered by the arches.

Electric conversion for a Robin Reliant when? 😁
Perhaps the low centre of gravity batteries would make the car less likely to end up on its side? 😜

That's brilliant knowledge! Perhaps we should arrange a drag race: Lead acid vs Lithium... 😜

Good spot! We used some Aussie shots as Fellten's clever crate packaging means it can (and has already) sold conversions Down Under 🇦🇺
I had a Mini, never went around a corner that I could have gone faster…well the Mini could..not the driver..sooo much fun.
Not sure those tyres are legal. Looks like there should be some spats over the arches to cover them.

Looks like a lot of fun!
It certainly is! Dream city car?
@cinch definitely. Everyone loves a mini and it's the only car people let out in traffic
Noice cars without the faff
No faff, just Minis getting soaked 😂
what song was that at the beginning
It’s called Hanged Drawn and Quartered by Grevens Tid 🙌🙌

Us too! Was the Targa that Fellten's created at 06:28 your inspiration, or have you been dreaming of this for a while?
Maques Brownlee reviewed one
You say classic, there is the mini, and a Germany small car made by BMW.
I love a resto-mod that makes every classic car, Gattaca-esque....
Is that a good thing? 👀 We love the way the tech blends into this car’s classic form, if that’s what you mean?
28 THOUSAND POUNDS. Plus the cost of buying the nicest mini you can find 😂 so call it 10 grand for a cheap decent one. Basically £40,000 😂😂😂😂😂
Some people spend £40k on a watch. This isn’t intended for lots of people, just a wealthy few worldwide. Good luck to them.
As EV conversions go, this is a steal
/Jamil
Mr. Bean would be upset that it’s electric and doesn’t pollute anymore.
It might be easier to drive in his arm chair with the regen doing some of the braking 😜
£28 grand - hahahahahaha
Hey Sarah, how much would you be prepared to pay for this sort of conversion?
Terrible audio! Sounds like a robot

Ruined
How so?
