Pretty Bandai standard but it's GAMERA!! Absolutely been waiting for his return, so that makes this figure valid. His new design is cool and has that imposing appearance that he had before while being a bit original. His colors are alright but imagine the crazy repaints this he can get. I'm just so hyped for this turtle. #gamerarebirthsweep

A month later and I finally ordered mine. Got caught up in finally buying the rest of the Yamato Takeru figures I needed but now that I have that whole set complete Im going to start getting those newest bandai releases. Super excited for this one. LOOOOOOVEEEE big bulky figures. I think my favorite Gamera design and bandai figure is STILL the 96, but this is easily a close second.

Another great review. While I do prefer the flatter shell that the Showa Gamera had, having a new design and figure for the first time in years is welcome. I heard Bandai is planning new figures of the Showa Gamera and Gyaos so it looks like it will be a turtle summer.
I see your tag got damaged too. Been an ongoing issue when I buy from HobbyLink as of late.
I’ve been hearing the same. Now that the Heisei stuff is out of the way, Showa Gammy is apparently up next, alongside the Anime stuff. Very hype!
Yeah, every now and again I’ll get a shipment with a muffed up tag. It’s upsetting. It’s kinda happened to me no matter where I order from, except ZenMarket ironically lol

One has to wonder about the tag damage- usually I can fold them back to "normal" if they're creased or warped but my Gamera was the first case of receiving a tag with an actual hole punched through it. For how much they cost now... not cool.

Im just wondering what size is that top loader because after I measure the tag of the Gamera figures, it seems that we need the A7 size top loaders. Just wondering if what you have there is actually an A7 size top loaders
I'm not a fan of this design personally, Gamera is at his best when looking like a sea turtle, the tortoise route that fans and everyone else has been pushing for the past decade just doesn't fit imo.
Though the fact that he's kinda close to the short film design in head and shell is sorta cool. Either way, hope the show is good

I’m hoping the shows on par with past Gamera projects. Just fun. Little bit of drama, a mess of action. But hopefully not horrendously stupid.

@@DaikaijuDiscussions dude does it really make a difference when turtles and tortoises are in the same group of animals?. G3 was his most drastically changed design and I don't recall sea turtles having individual moving plates on their shells or small eyes that make them look more intimidating than anything else. Gamera is either his own species of turtle or something else all together. Not just a giant sea turtle..
The more tortoise or alligator snapping turtle look for gamera makes him look more intimidating or bulky overall. This adds up with the fact tortoises have bigger and sturdy shells which is something gamera must always have. This design essential takes notes from g3 and the 2015 short film. Both of which did similar changes to gamera's design.
It's like saying giving godzilla therapod legs doesn't work when it clearly works for zilla jr and godzilla ultima, (just make godzilla fast next time toho if you wanna give him bird like legs)

Saying that tortoises and sea turtles don't have much a difference because they're similar animals doesn't help your case very much, because besides the shell and similar head, they are very different in texture, shape and proportions.
Heisei Gamera up to g3 is literally primarily based off a sea turtle by the concept artist.
Of course it isn't one to one because he's a Kaiju that grows overtime, but the primary feel and shapes are there. Even in G3 he wasn't nearly as busy, bulky, as much the stiff boulder that was the newer looks.
I didn't say it was impossible, just that I don't like it in my view of the character. He should be an underdog, not just Godzilla with a shell.
@@DaikaijuDiscussions Dude he is a underdog regardless of how big or smooth his shell is, implying he needs to looks slim or weak or not as bulky as godzilla to imply he's a underdog isn't helping your case either. His body always looked different and had different (and at times similar) proportions compared to godzilla because of his shell.
That's like saying kong doesn't need weapons to be an underdog when he is one with or without weapons. Gamera from day one WAS godzilla with a shell, he was literally created as many of the knockoffs that copied godzilla but he actually made it work. Gamera's body is only different in texture, his head and body proportions are still similar if not the same. This figure in particular just doesn't do the design proper justice
Calling the newer design a "stiff Boulder" really doesn't make much sense given that we see gamera charge/run twice in the rebirth trailer and lifting jiger over his head. Only busy thing added to his design is the individual moving plates on his shell which is something g3 already has.
What happened to the Kong apple tv show tho...
As far as I know, The MonsterVerse series is still coming to Apple TV and the Kong Skull Island anime is still heading to Netflix.
Last time someone said anything about it was in December and that they’re still working on the animation and stuff. Netflix could drop a trailer annnyyy day now.
