I like Strauss waltzes from his "Russian" period, e.g. "Abschied von St. Petersburg" Op. 210 or "Souvenir de Nizza", Op.200. "Großfürstin Alexandra-Walzer", composed before those two aforementioned dances, also belongs to this series of masterpieces.
Waltz 3B is surely the best part of the piece. The repeat of it, which is obviously as always marked in the score, was missing in the original recording so I edited it.
Can nobody upload the complete double-LP set called Johann Strauss in St Petersburg, which was by Stolz and this same orchestra! It was on BASF when I last owned it.
Could you publish march of the Life Guards 1st Rifle Battalion (1856)? I will send record to you. You have a lot of Strauss fans and I'd like to see if my guess is correct - did Strauss use this tune in this waltz "Künstlerleben"?
The best performance!!!
That was a fantastic waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn. Stupendous work!

Один из немногих вальсов Иоганна, имеющий главную тему 1А в минорном ладу.

@@Adamov1 абсолютно согласен. Роберт Штольц решил полностью повторить 1А и 1В, но обделил вниманием 3В :)
