This is the most comprehensive overview of houseboats that I’ve ever seen. Great job Captain Doug!

My wife and I are looking to buy our first houseboat this spring on Lanier. Can you recommend someone to give us training on how to maneuver, manage, and maintain one?

I would be happy to teach you from the ground up - from buying, storing, driving, managing and maintaining. Email me at *****.net. We are considering selling our current houseboat this year.

Just say no😆 All of the maintenance of a house and of a boat all rolled up into one big headache. 😆 Just rent a cabin near the marina and rent any kind of boat you want and you’ll save about a hundred thousand dollars in your life.😆

Unfortunately, we use the boat almost every week, and most of the time have between 20 and 30 people with us (we have a very big family). Its true it costs us about $14K per year owning and operating the boat - but we think it is still worth it. That may change one day - but not yet.
