Did this decades ago and still use it on the lower right-hand side of the work. Under it will be the date I finished the work. Then I will put a small ‘c’ inside a circle to show the work is copyrighted. I’ll sign my name (normal signature) in pencil on the back. I also have started assigning a serial number to each piece. I keep a record of each piece, its serial number, the work’s title, and the date.
Thank you for these tips. I’ve mostly been a crafter but as I’m venturing more into ‘art’, I have paintings that need to be signed. My everyday signature is long and I wouldn’t use it anyway. My initials are SO, and I (like you) spell it for my email address and it’s also my personal car number plate. But I’m forever having to explain it! People don’t get that SO is also ESSO. Perhaps I could sign ESSO or Esso on the front and have a stamp made for the back with my actual name.
THANK YOU!!! I wa thinking of doing the same thing of making up a new name because my name is so long… but I wasn’t sure if that was a good idea! Thank you for confirming my idea and solving the issue by clarifying on the back who it is! Love it!
I was hoping for a actual brush choice and medium choice for signature success.
Good advice, thank you 😊
Thanks for the tips. I like the idea of making a stamp for my signature.
Should have mentioned date and keeping it above frame level too!

Hi! Thanks for your advice. Is it good to sign location where the artwork was painted, for example which mountain, river ect?
Thank you so much ❤

This is extremely helpful. I’m trying to create a signature for my drawings.
My art is a part of me.
Where can I get a stamp made?
Signing adds psychic value - whether it's there or not.
