- In today's video, I dive straight into Range Rover ownership, purchasing this L322. It didn't take long for me to realise just how unreliable these cars really are.

As someone who just bought an L322 as well. I'm loving it so far. 4.4l V8 is an awsome engine
As a L322 owner I watch all 322 content. Thank you for making it. Mind boggling amount of miles

Well, there will always be a new cheapest Range Rover…
Great car for content creating ! I’ve noticed, no MOT since November ? Previous MOT states oil and coolant leak… a brave move driving it on the motorway. Subscribed ! Love the “ballsyness”.
Exact same breakdown happened with me. Temp trick similar to what you done - turn car off, turn ignition on but don’t start car, press accelerator for 30 seconds, then start car - this sorted for a 7hr journey. Replaced the MAF sensor once home which seemed to sort the issue.
Thanks will definitely try replacing the MAF
@ correction - I forgot I bought the wrong part so never changed it - I just used air flow sensor cleaner and that sorted it…
@@Del_Boy_22 oh good. I’ve got some so will give all the sensors a spray 🤞
They all break down!
Even the brand new ones.
1:40 'There are of course some issues' 😆 NO KIDDING! We all knew that already when you said L322 🤣
These have an absolutely woeful reputation here in Australia regardless of drivetrain. Maybe it's the hotter weather here affects them? Dunno. 🤷♀
Love it ❤😂 can’t wait to see this series I’ve been eying myself
Lidl car park. The natural habitat for a range rover!
Just watched you going around the Nurburgring and then this popped up this morning, couldn't believe your the same fella 😅 Big car for a bigger fella! Great videos Subscribed!
Interesting video! The chirp on acceleration could be belts, but also could be something to do with the gearbox. I have a similar issue on an XK8 and the remedy was a change of gearbox oil as the old stuff was making the clutches stick and subsequent chirp as it engaged second or third at speed.
hi Ben,
I am a first time viewer of any of your videos, and have given you a thumb up, please follow up with further videos on getting that Range Rover fixed ,plus the costs involved. !!!!!!!!!!
Will be soon
I have owned my L322 for about five years after a long period with three door, classics and P38. Their poor reliability rep isn't that deserved, on the whole they are easy to work on, parts are reasonably cheap compared to other makes and the enthusiast community is the best. They are not for the average motorist who runs to the dealer when an issue appears. They suffer mostly from Chinese whispers.... "I knew a mate who knew a person who lived next door to someone who had a large garage bill for their four year old L322" and it tends to be peeps who have never owned a RR or even a Land Rover, though the newer stuff is best avoided unless buying new? I do own a Volvo XC90 as a daily but that would go long before my L322 and then only to fund another L322. Fuel costs are the only niggle with my 4.4 petrol but it is what it is and do owe my life to the car.
900 my goodness only 900 you elite enchilada winning uk mudda numbers cruncher top Scaramanga. Well done.
I've just stumbled upon your channel. I immediately liked and subscribed. Here's to many more.
Thanks you. Much appreciated 👍🏻 I’ve just filmed a video which I’m hoping will go live tomorrow
I’ve just sold my 2008 TDV8 after 3 years, Ioved it but feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders! Bought an old Citroen DS3, free road tax😊
Looking forward to your repair videos...
So much info and parts on these vehicles.quite a bargain if you know what your doing
Turbo actuators. One is easy to reach through the wheel well. The other is buried. Specialist garage said it was a body off job and 28 hours labour. My mechanic partially dismantled the exhaust and managed to reach up and lube the actuator and manipulate it to free it off. Cost me a couple of hundred quid in labour and the car was fine afterwards. These cars are no more unreliable than any other older car. Plenty of forums and experience out there to help maintain it. Having access to an Autel scanner is a bonus. Enjoy the majestic ride!
They can’t be a specialist garage if they think the body comes off!!
The L322 is shell and subframe! 😂
Get some live data from turbos (command/actuall ) n/s turbo normally goes and o/s turbo actuator sticks and possibly snaps the veins = low boost / = limp mode!! Ask me how I know lol
Agree, turbo actuators are a likely cause here. Bit of poking with a long screwdriver and a bit of silicone lube spray should sort. Both are accessible if you try hard enough - take the undertray off and you'll be able to access the tricky one. Also worth a look at the boost hoses, they are famous for splitting - not too difficult to pop them off and check (also check under the webbing if it is there) - not too pricey to replace, less than £100 IIRC (it's a been a few years since I did mine!)
I have a 2003 L322 TD6, it's full of fault codes, mostly about EGR (since I blocked it off) it has no limp mode, check engine light doesn't even come on, it just goes
Looks pretty cool ... i think its worth tidying up 🎉
Ben, well done on creating content with the L322 for maybe a few months.....but it could be a painful 2025 for your pocket.
Lucy on Cars is selling her good L322, I am sure she'd be open to an offer, but nowhere near £900.00 😂.
£950? 😂 come on Lucy I’m good for it
My dad's L322 4.2SC would throw a fault. You can put it in neutral and turn it off and back on again without stopping. Ours was a crappy injector.
40 miles without breaking down... thats a damn good range rover😂
Congratulations on your first Range rover purchase, You have succeeded in life! 😂
I love the L322 I love the looks 😍, as long as it belongs to someone else 😂😂😂😂
It must have taken 40 years to do 171K miles in that thing with it breaking down every few miles.
Had an old 4.4 HSE P38 few years ago now, needed to carry all sorts with me to keep it moving. PoS cars when it comes to reliability and having confidence in being able to get from a to b and back again.
Have a Freelander 2 for 6 years or so now, been superb, just general maintenance and servicing.
Interesting comments from people - I suppose it's like many vehicles like this (price and complexity). They get a bad reputation because let's face it, the majority of people who buy them 'cheap' treat them like a cheap car without performing maintenance and the required servicing. Yes there are common issues that are specific to the L322, but the same can be said for any vehicle. I've had mine for 3 years now, 2007 model, loads of history from the previous owner and it's been the most reliable car I've had. The only issue I've had with it was a rubber brake hose that decided it was too old and wanted to leak. Other than that, it's a great car and very versatile.
I've never had more anxiety since owning mine 🤣
Thinking of getting an L322 but after 15 -20 of these youtube reviews l will stick with an old slow v6 cayenne. Shame but they dont break and are pretty simple to fix.
Can almost guarantee you that the reason why it broke down where it did was because it entered the vicinity of Luton
😂😂
Someone has changed the grill at some point and the chrome door handle covers can go for me as they are a bit chavvy. But nice combo. I have the a Stornoway grey 4.4 tdv8 with 20" wheels but I would stick with the 19" wheels....your tyres will be that little bit cheaper.
knocking like a Jehovah witness, my wife and I laughed solidly for 5 mins! Good luck with your project
Haha finally someone acknowledging my jokes 😂
Possibly turbo intake hose split. This may explain the chirp noises and turbo boost fault code causing limp mode. A smoke test should identify if this is the issue.
Excellent video 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it
£1000 ain’t cheap for an L322 you can pick them up for scrap money!
In USA maybe 300$ for this car. On copart
Parked a Lidl in true rangey fashion😂
I remember when I got a 2003 Toyota Sequoia with 170,000 miles, drove it for 70 miles at highway speeds home and no single code popped up... 4 years later still waiting for a break down and drive it daily. But it will be the most boring video on the RUclips
Time to call the breakdown truck
It’s sad to me that a vehicle that is supposed to be such high end is such a piece of crap, I owned a Range Rover and it was in she shop more than it was on the road, never again would I buy one.
Never buy the cheapest, just a recipe for wiping out your bank balance... Just done 2830 miles in my 2011 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography and all good, correct and thorough maintenance is a must, just because it was cheap to buy it wasn't a cheap car originally and full of electrics. Sadly most can afford to buy them but not look after them first sign is budget tyres
Spot on with the budget tyres.
"It broke down!" What a surprise ! A Land Rover ? No Way !
I know 😱😂
Might be the torque converter and the need for a rebuild of transmission plus need flush and new transmission oil. £3/5k
🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Love a bit or Range Rover content! Faults, degunk the sensors in the manifold and clean it all out. Also clean the EGR or consider mapping it out, controversial I know. Great content! Subscribed!
Appreciate it 👍🏻
People don’t be put off the Land Rovers if you live by the if it ain’t broke don’t fix the 0:15 you will pay dearly like most cars preventative maintenance is the key with most brands. If you just drive and don’t bother with any maintenance in a car you maybe better with public transportation as it maybe a cheaper option in the long run. But you will loose some independence up to you. I have been lucky having over 10 cars plus in my life all having done over 300000kms before any major work or some twat crashing into me and destroying them. Insurance always have insurance. All I do is half the oil intervals and every two years replace all other fluids if looks degraded it’s replaced. All cars have had original running gear and that included a p11 Primera first gen cvt m6 the most atrocious reliability. It made it to 385000 before given up ghost just changed the fluid every 50000. 0:15
But cheap ,get cheap ,will be interesting following your journey.
Viewers want to see automotive disasters, so we get to see old range rovers.
Hope yes 👍🏻
Can I bye it of u?£€$
No surprise there then 😂😂😂😂😂.
Normal RR parking at 1 min 30 secs.
8:08 😂😂
The whining like like a buggie...is your voice sunshine 🌞
HA good one
chirp = turbo problem.
Do a diagnostics before buying 😂
Where’s the fun in that 🤣
You were robbed at 900 quid, it's the worst I've ever seen 😂
Don’t say that 😂👀
@@be1441 Any time someone's put chrome door handles on a car, walk away 😂
@ 😂😂😂 I even told the bloke I bought it off, they’ll be the first thing I remove from this car! Along with the wind deflectors
@@be1441 They'll probably be glued on and a nightmare :\
Come on, first thing you need to do is blank the EGR's and get it tuned, modify then repair, every time!
@ apparently the egr has already been mapped out. Need to figure out where this coolant leak is coming from first. Hopefully then I’ll have heating inside the car 🥶
Lol what have you done 😅😂
Tell me about it 😅🤦🏼♂️
REALLY, a Range Rover breaking down?😳
Dont you think that was irresponsible to continue to drive on the motorway knowing that you had a serious fault ?
Wasn’t that serious. Managed to get home didn’t I
Lucky you, have you seen the statistics for motuorway hard shoulder accidents@be1441
Range Rover may soon be sale if the debacle with Jaguar plays out. Imagine if Toyota bought it, we could actually have a RR that is reliable.
Really? ‘I bought an ice cream - and it melted!’ Wow… what a surprise 🤦🏼🖕
Oh dear. Hope you licked it quick enough to enjoy it 👅
No such thing as a cheap RR as you found out
awesome car but insurance in london is a nightmare which over the year had come down but still 6k and i got full bonus your having a laugh , lucky i am a ex insurance broker .
That’s insane!
@@be1441 yes its come down now but 7k lol still too expensive.
BIG DEAL
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
Just once I would like to see a clickbait thumbnail "I Bought The Most Insanely Expensive L322 In The World!!!"
Why does a wealthy guy like you buy a cheap L322? That makes no sense.
Its a Range Rover and you were surprised it broke down!?! 😂
Vac pipe?
Yep cheap, it's 5 grand to tax it come April. You really do need cash to own one shortly.
Pretty sure that’s new cars
ben take it to tom lenghalls, finchampstead
Think he’s quite far from me unfortunately. I probably won’t make it 😂
Worth more than that in parts,
Exactly. If all fails at least I have a plan B
@@be1441plan b…. Buy another cheap one and make a good one out of the 2 👍🏾
300,000miles wooooow
Pretty, but woeful reliability, tried 3 different ones, terrible experience, never again.
Cheapskates gonna be cheap
Funny tho
How ever cheap it was it was to much
900 pound car 5 k iff repairs
The title is almost click bait... What else did you expect to happen dude?😂
Almost…until you realise…it’s a Range Rover 😂
Shock! Range rover and breakdown in the same sentence?
For the price???….yea I would have bought it also. I bought my Range Rover sport for 4300.00 and honestly drove it maybe 25 times before it was an all over for it because of a blown head gasket.the episode is on my channel now
RUclips warriors 😂🤦♂️
💪 💪
why endanger other road users going in lane 3 in a car that you know is unreliable ?
Quickly overtaking slower moving traffic, before moving back over to be as close to the hard shoulder as possible 👍🏻
@ or quickly moving into lane 3 at 70 mph and then losing power
That’s the move of an idiot, why not stay in lane 1 at 55 ? how many seconds did you save ?
@@robertovers1863 🥱
Every car of this age will have these problems these RUclips range rover clickbaity headlines about car brands evident unreliability are full of crap and need battering to good sense
Work that out on your own did you?
Money pit mate wouldn't have one even if it was free
Always trust Japanese cars
Too many " oh you just need to do this, turn on turn off. They're expensive cars, need more than average maintenance and servicing, why are so many cheap. Because they've had cheapwad owners, who don't look after them, and the faults get worse and worse, because they never get properly rectified mechanically. Just wannabe mechanics with a diagnostic tool clearing all the dash lights. They will never learn that doesn't cure the issue, you need very deep pockets.
I will fix this car up and bring it back to its former glory. Don’t panic
They are a bag of shite
I love it 😂
Taking up 3 parking spaces in Lidl to do a video of yourself, what a selfish posh joke.
Incase you can’t see very well, it wasn’t a parking space. The car park was also rammed with not a single space. Jog on
Scrap it
What do you expect, they're rubbish. The most unreliable cars land rover ever made.
How much did you pay for this ?
Did you not watch the video? 😂
@@be1441 Sorry. I was watching while driving and missed it. Went back and watched again. Got it. Good luck with the repairs. Will be interesting to see what you do to the vehicle.
9 bills Fam
@@asbcasbc hopefully I can fix it haha 😂 thanks for watching tho. Definitely need to investigate and get some more videos out there
@@asbcasbc A shame the cops didn't catch you🤬
"I bought the cheapest car and it broke down", no surprise there mate, use both of your brain cells next time and try to shop better.
I literally bought it for the channel. A car with faults does better for views doesn’t it. As you can see my ‘brake downs’ couldn’t have been that bad as I got home. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
WTF did you buy that? It's a scrapper and you've got exactly what you paid for. I can't believe people are this stupid.
Valued to your opinion
You didn’t ‘BREAK DOWN’ ; you ‘slowed down’. The RR kept moving and got you home. A break down is when you get it home on a flat bed. 👍🏻🙏🦘
