- Monster Truck Showdown is the latest game in the licensed series and it releases on August 29th . The game is labeled as an arcade racer, but I found the physics-based controls to lean more in the simcade direction, and that’s a good thing.
You control each wheel axle with a separate thumbstick, with the right stick drifting the truck out from under the rear wheels. Pulling off tricks within the freestyle events is fun thanks to the organic movement controls; just pull down on the thumbstick and you’re doing a backflip, it’s fun and simple.
Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of progression to speak of here, and the trucks all have similar driving characteristics and sounds. The single-player campaign is a lackluster collection of events without much of interest to compel the player forward. This is a fun game to play with friends or for small doses of fun, but it doesn’t quite have the features or depth to last beyond the initial dive.
The game is fun for what it is. I'm about 8 hours in of playtime. It's clear this was aimed towards younger gamers, but overall I'm enjoying my time with it. Simple, fun, stress free. A nice break from competitive online multi-player games

i miss when these games were over the top: battle modes with weapons around the map with more imaginative locations
Maybe they'll come out with a DLC with more tracks.
As with Hotwheels, Milestone managed to make the controls pitch perfect
Ive put hours n hours into unlocking trucks n livery this game is a solid 8 out of 10

I think it is an 8/10. Its really fun but as always has its issues. However, im just happy that i like it and it is not getting panned by everyone. The backflip ramps won't let you corkscrew normally. The cars a wonky. There is a Hawaii dlc coming soon and im pretty sure they will fix stuff with its release.
Just finished the game and unlocked all cars. Not a bad way to spend a few days. Only gripes were there were way too many freestyle and best tricks challenges, wish they would’ve added the reverse challenges from Steel Titans where half the pack goes one way and the other half go in the opposite direction and you try not to hit each other upon the intersections. Also the wrestling fan in my would’ve loved a Demolition Derby battle royal mode where you have 8 cars in an arena trying to tip each over on their backs while taking the least amount of damage. Finally I would’ve liked to be able to pick your trucks in arena head to head competitions and chose which ones along the way instead of getting one and doing 3 straight races with the same car
Game is pretty fun. Wish there were more maps and modes though
Tell you what though: my 4 year old son loves this game. Good enough for me.

It's fun. A solid 7. Fairly shallow but simple, uncomplicated fun.

Did you seriously think that FELD, of all corporations, would want to make a monster truck derby game?
You must be blind to what Monster Jam is, or you just think that monster trucks are just like demo cars (spoiler: THEY’RE NOT)

Does it feel like your driving on ice? The last game felt like you were driving on ice & they weigh 5 pounds.
I have it on PS5, and it feels way better. I played Steep Titans 2, which you are referring to a lot, and it feels better. My main complaint would be the terrible rubber banding.

@@mattcross9367 talking about racing games. Mario Kart has rubber banding. That's what it used to be called anyhow. A game like Gran Turismo doesn't have that.

Same stats and no damage for crashes. That's a shame.
This game really needed free-roam like the MJ Steel Titans games have. Added replay value, since some of the unlockable trucks in Steel Titans 2 could only be obtained in free roam.
Bring on Wreckfest 2 already...
He thinks dual steering is new? it was on monster Jam steel Titans as well. Everything he is calling revolutionary was in the last game 🤣🤣
The Truck feels heavy...until you ping off a car. Hoping for an update for that anomaly.

Who the hell actually listens to music in a racing game even games like astrobot that supposedly has awesome. Music I still wish I could turn it down a bit because it gets very annoying
me. Music greatly enhances every game, hell I usually turn all game sound down aside the music so I can hear it more it fits for a good vibe and I get in the zone. Forza games prior to 4 had amazing soundtracks and Astrobot has probably the best soundtrack of 2024
@@knowingbadger thats awesome I guess that proves that everyone is different in their own way I like my games to be as realistic as possible and usually in real life there's not music playing in the background I guess unless you have earbuds in
Steering with 2 sticks is annoying AF!! They batter have a way to combine them like monster jams steel titans does so 1 stick does all the steering front and back!!!
This game isn’t what I’d thought it was. I was hoping to play as a gay half Chinese and half black chick in a turn-based bathroom simulator. The final product is missing characters that are a more appropriate match for the modern audience. This games developer has intentionally neglected to recognize the changing demographic of gamers who demand recognition! This game is a HATE CRIME! 🎉

The game is massively boring and don't think it's anything else… This video showed you the whole game everything in between what you missed here is just nothing just absolutely nothing. I wanted to like the game but after playing it for about two hours uninstalled and in the garbage
