Somewhere Down In Texas

- This is a photo collection of my just part of my stint in Texas. It really doesn't do my love for Texas or that state's amazing-ness any justice, but I'll try to work on it some more. I can't wait to move back down there!
*** UPDATE: 9/19/11: Thank you to all the people who've viewed this video and written comments on it. I'm really flattered this little picture slideshow has tallied up so many views.
I just wanted to share with you all that I am back in Texas right now, for the time being. Probably less than seven months. I made this video a couple years ago, I suppose, and it's really interesting to revisit and re-read what I had written in the description section before.
When I had first moved to Texas, I hadn't been to a lot of places -- so I fell in love with it pretty easy. Since that time, I got married and my husband's in the military, so I've been exposed to lots of other places and it's given me a new perspective that I felt obligated to share.
Texas has some wonderfully beautiful places to see and really great people to meet -- but I've learned that it isn't the only place that has that to offer. The beauty overlooking bends of the Missouri River across over into Kansas and the rugged coastline drive from Monterey to Big Sur in California have taken my breathe away much like the many purple Texas sunsets I've been fortunate to see. Throughout all of this traveling, I have met people in Missouri, in Wyoming, in Oklahoma, in Utah, in Nevada, in California, in Arizona, and in Texas that I have felt blessed to have met.
So, I guess I've learned that every place on this Earth really has something to offer you -- if you are willing to let it. And I thank Texas (along with the handfuls of other places I've temporarily settled) for all the happiness they've given me.
I lived in texas for 24 years, I always told everyone I would never leave. now I have been gone for 7 years, and most of the time spent in Afghanistan, great song, I will bee coming home soon. God willing!!!!
Christian Martin
thank you.
Christian Martin I pray that God brings you home soon!

Fredericksburg Texas, born and raised, currently in Colorado. miss traveling to all the swimming holes, floating the rivers, and going to all the different dancehalls.
big storm hitting Texas now, thanks to all the wonderful people helping with the rescues!!
I'm from Portugal and I love the great state.God bless Texas.
Texas forever! The U.S. needs Texas, but Texas doesn't need the U.S. A fifth generation Native Texan right here, and I wouldn't want it any other way. God bless Texas, the closest place to heaven on earth!
Aman
Your statement is a paradox. Texas is apart of the U.S. so saying that Texas doesn't need the USA is saying it doesn't need itself.....
No NRMattison, Texas was it's own republic, and should be again. We can do just fine without the rest of the U.S. Texas has the highest employment rate, is the most Christian and patriotic, and is only burdened by the rest of the U.S. God bless my beloved Texas forever!
You will never be on your own. You'll be shoveling shit collecting government checks for the rest of your life
Sounds like a jealous man to me must be from California what a shame

I see some people are CONFUSED! YES Texas and Oklahoma has a GREAT rivalry going! always have! As a proud OKIE who lived in Texas part her life I love BOTH states! But what I PROMISE YOU OUT SIDERS! We talk about each others! We call EACH OTHER names! Y'ALL STEP IN, WE WILL GET PISSED! WE GOT EACH OTHER! DON'T KNOW!

God Bless Texas!!!! The greatest state in the USA.
just wanted to let you know, every picture in this vid gave me more and more goosebumps. I live in Texas and I've seen quite a bit of it (not all), but every day the "Texas" in everything amazes me more and more, its something you cant describe until you see it for yourself. Sometimes I like to just sit on the tailgate of my truck and watch the sunset (with a Shiner Bock bottle nearby) and absorb it all. Oh and I noticed an Aggie on the far left of the last picture, WHOOP! Great video.
there is a picture from the old back road I use to drive as a kid !! Awesome to see that!
Great song choice for your video. Jason Boland is a great song writer and performer.

I thank God so much for His blessings & for my parents whom He broke the mold after He made such amazing people as them. I'm so thankful for where I'm from-I just came back from our ranch in Paluxy and Granbury--- a town I grew up in -- a town where a friend just got married in Deer Valley. It was a the marriage of 2 Texas oil families that cemented the bond ---the corporate side and the wildcatter side. Congratulations to my friend & former student, Daniel Vaughan and his lovely bride, Sarah Rosenthal.

@FromUnboundWorlds granddaddy always said its a sad frog that wont croak for its own pond...
I was born in Detroit. I thought Michigan and Ohio people hated one another. But that's nothing to what you have going on between Texas and Oklahoma. It seems kind of silly to me. Both states have amazing venues and have produced incredible artist.
Just enjoy it all. Thats what I do.
***** If it weren't Okies, we would not have some of our Texas music players.... I don't think the rivalry is nearly as bad as folks talk it up to be.
+Tracy Flippen
only when it comes to UT vs OKLAHOMA. ...people travel to the casinos from Dallas to OK
@TheCowboy912 Texas and Tennessee, imo, are my favorite states. I live in Tennessee. Of course, settlers from Tennessee helped in the making of Texas so I think both states are intertwined and both great states.
