This video helped a lot , thank you. I did ballet as a girl for 6 years and then stopped and I am getting back into it. I have flat feet too and it’s always frustrated me. But it’s nice to know that even with flat feet, I can still achieve the arch and instep I’ve always wanted. 😊 thank youuuu!!
Thanks for the tips. I'm Tango dancer and someone recommend to do ballerina exercises to help with the arch pain in my feet after a party. I start it doing it and it really work. Now I'll like to improve my arch (we are on our tippi toes while dancing) having strong and nice arch will help with my posture. Thanks for the video
I'm tango dancer too. We are not on our tippy toes when we dance. We are on our metatarsals. A nice arch will help you with your balance and stability during your back step, BUT your posture has to do with your centre. It's not a beautiful instep that will give you the right posture, but an activated core!
Hi Victoria! This video is so useful. Informative, with precise demos and anatomy information. Would you cover healthy management of flat feet as a dancer, like bunion formation, pain of arch collapse or any other issue that may have affected you? Dancers and flat-footed exercisers can develop bad habits (e. g. overpronation when walking and standing). Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. Can you plz do a video about like i have a problem holding my turnout once I releve and I don't even force my turnout at all , can you make a video about that?
i actually talk a little bit about turn-out in the "winging tutorial" and then even a little bit more in "proper relevé for beginners" if that's not enough for you than please let me know and i can go into more detail :)
i’m a diver. i used to dance and do gymnastics and ever since the beginning my teachers would tell me to pointe my toes i would be like “i am 😭😭” i always thought my foot was just broken or something because my feet couldn’t look like everyone else’s no matter what. still now that i dive, i have this issue and my dives look ugly because my feet always look flat 💀💀💀 i have 0 arch and 0 instep.. matter a fact, my instep goes THE OTHER WAY 😂😭
Is it correct that ballet dancers have bigger feet? Longer toes and bigger feet in length? I have normal size feet but have short toes. So no matter how much I train my foot, it looks shitty. Because of the short toes. Not that I care, I do ballet for maintenance at my age...... so.......I don't need beautiful arched feet. Still...would like to know.....pls! Love your channel and how you talk. You always make me smile with your calm attitude.
i don't think that's true. i know dancers with very small feet and short stubby toes! maybe having the "wrong" foot shape discourages dancer from a young age, and they think that they cannot continue unless they have "the right foot." so maybe thats why we tend to see certain types of feet more than others... i think ballet dancers' feet might appear bigger because we can articulate more parts of our feet, or we have bigger foot muscles, or maybe the feet are just swollen! haha! it's true that some foot shapes and sizes are 'more ideal' for ballet than others. but all we can do is try to work with what we have
Idk why I feel so sad about my feet , my friend keep saying a having a really nice arch but I didn't see any , I feel like they are lying :( I'm flat footed , and I've been trained for a few years and there is no improvement for my arch
Did you have surgery on your arch because they were low? Because I’ve been having some foot pain and was wondering what the surgery were like. Was it general or local anaesthetic? And did it heighten your arch at all? I get back knee pain sometimes
no i never had surgery for my arch. my surgery was just on a tendon in my ankle. the only thing that ever "heightened" my arch was the regular use of very thick pads that i inserted in my sneakers to give more arch support. it prevents the arch from "falling" in your shoe.
PUT DAT COOKIE DOWN ...NOW - you nailed it
Best youtube ballet professer ever, keep on posting 👏👏💪

god ur so funny!
How do u not roll in your insteps?
I imagine a little thumbtack under my arch :P
What??? Fake arches! 😅
Having a high instep is painful at times, it was great for dance but now I struggle with most of my shoes 😣
This is not going to help me get over my foot fetish LOL
