Professor Wilfried Mullens discusses the use of diuretics in patients with heart failure and congestion, focussing upon his recent ADVOR study which compared acetazolamide with placebo in these patients.
Professor Winfried Mullens is Heart Failure and Cardiac Device Specialist in Genk, Belgium. He is Board Member of the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology, whose position statement on "The use of diuretics in heart failure with congestion" he drafted as first author. Moreover, he designed and conducted the ADVOR trial on the use of acetazolamide in decompensated heart failure, which has been presented at the ESC 2022 congress and published simultaneously in New England Journal of Medicine.
